I agree. I was introduced to shotokan in 1983. I loved my first sensei but if I had Hotton it would have been even more a life changer. Like being given a calculator when I was using a slide ruler. Lol.
A real master teacher who explains beautifully the importance of relaxation to attain real Kime and effective technique, without the robotics of some other styles. Thank you Rick Hotton Sensei .
Well done, 60 years practicing, this is how true training/ instruction is done.. I trained with great teachers and the development of dynamic and sensitive proprioceptive skills is paramount..Imagination, Intuition and Intelligence, my 3 mainstays in my Art... Be well all....
im a taekwondo guy but i stumbled onto sensei hotton but i honestly became obsessed with his technique and style and i aspire to have his understanding one day
Kime, body connection, relaxation, hip rotation, whole body movement, grounded stance etc...Rick sensei profoundly inertialized the main martial arts principles, not only concerning Karate. It´s a pleasure to watch this elegant, snappy flowing, strong techniques! There are not many masters like Rick Hotton; unfortunately....
beautiful..Just beautiful from my heart used to practice shotokan...Martial a.. it's the fundament of life for me and this journey never stops..beautiful
guy's power relies so much in speed. .that is his secret. .the whip principle in his punches were almost identical to bruce lee's blinding speed of delivery. .the secret to all these are pliability, flexibilty and small muscle developments. .big muscles and stiff limbs hampered speed. .small compact muscles generate lots of speed. .
@@romuloambay9624 Without Isometrics Bruce-Lee would have been much less effective...and that's exactly the sort of training many shun despite the science.
Very good! But...a lot of tai chi chaun in there. The stretch, release and connection is pure tai chi chaun. Some karate people don't want to hear that. Many Karate students/Senseis practice rigid blocks and strikes, but here you can see his looseness and relaxation. Sensei Kanazawa practiced tai chi for over 50 years.
So apparently i am seriously missing connectedness. Can someone point me in the direction to begin this training. Like maybe exercises. I know im missing something because my karate feels fake or empty or something. Its just not there.
Is Rick coming back to teach in Sweden this year? If so, which clubs will host him? Please let us know more! This teacher for me is like a chance going to a dream seminar! Osu!
Sensei Rick is (in my humble opinion) doing karate, GUNG -FU style. I'll explain, in GUNG -Fu the forms flow from one movement done correctly to the next with NO break between them.
