Lovely work. I have made many smocked dresses for my granddaughter who is now 25. I have a large collection of the Australian Smocking Magazines like the one you were looking through in the video. I subscribed to them in the US rom Australia. They were expensive but I have never seen a more beautifully designed and photographed magazine. I met many of the designers when they were here in the US for promotion. I still have my pleater. I don’t make them anymore but have many happy memories of making them when she was a baby. I even taught another daughter-in-law and she made many dresses for her daughter and then a granddaughter. I keep all the things because I dream that I might get a great grandchild and can sew for that generation. Who knows? Thank you for the reminder of nice memories.
I love smocking mu clothes, am busy with a dress for myself and loving every minute of the posses. Your sewing and the aesthetic of your channel is so inspiring. Thank you for shearing it.

Hi Katrina 🤍 this pattern was based off a vintage paper one. Ive found it so hard to find a woman’s smocked pattern. I would love to make a pdf one that is accessible for others x
@@softenstudio I think there would be a real market for it! I know of a few other sewists that are interested in smocking but don’t know where to start.
The name of my pleater is called The Sally Stanley Smocking pleater. I found it second hand on Facebook marketplace. You can also purchase new pleaters from Read pleaters x
Great that your learning to smock if I could give you 1 piece of advise your thread is way way to long and it's near impossible to get the Stitches to sit flat and back stitching would really help
Did you look into back stitching. I'm selling quiet a few of my smocking books if your interested just dm me and I can show you what I have. I will be having a stand next month in Brisbane to destash a lot of my excess stock. Good luck with the smocking
I have heard of back stitching and would love to learn more. We are no longer living in Brisbane but are in Adelaide. I got given a box of smocking books when I bought my pleater but haven’t been able to go through them all yet. Thanks for thinking of me 🥰
