I listen to this episode quite often. I just love Jeff Anderson you know. This one and the one where he guest hosts with Kevin Smith at the Smodcastle.
Weird how life works. If Sundance didn’t happen, Smith could have been a totally anonymous debt ridden Jersey quikstop clerk possibly just living out an unremarkable life.
Him and Kevin had a falling out over money when clerks was sold to miramax that’s why he’s not in chasing Amy I guess they patched things up around the time of dogma
Jeff talking about Clerks 3 here keeps your hopes up, even though only 3 years later it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. I really want it to happen and hopefully after Kevin does Jay and Silent Bob reboot they get over the wall they ran into. I feel like if it’s not anytime soon, it’ll eventually happen
Same here, I feel like if and when Jeff watches Jay and Silent Bob reboot he will hopefully feel more up to doing Clerks 3, and if anything we might get a Quick Stop/Dante and Randal cameo, in Jay and Bob reboot, I mean you can't really do a Jay and Silent Bob movie without at least showing the Quick Stop once. But its Kevin's movie, and he has suprised me before with burning the Quick Stop down, in 2. So I guess we will just have to wait and see, I just know im stoked to see the flick! So here's to hoping Jeff will change his mind! 🍺
Here in the year 2021, Clerks 3 has been shot and we’re all waiting for it’s release. I don’t think the script is the same as a Kevin and Jeff are talking about here. But it’s a done deal. Can’t wait.
Kinda of a shame Smith changed his process. Zach and Miri was damn good, So was Jersey Girl, IMHO. Understand he got fed up with the financial expectations and hating critics, but wish he would’ve continued along the path of those two movies. Unconventional romcoms but there’s a hell of a lot worse that get to the screen and do financially better. As long as he’s happy I guess.
I don’t think he wrote Zach and Miri and I think that film not doing well financially made Kevin completely lose confidence in his ability to make a studio movie . It is Seth’s lowest grossing movie and I know Kevin felt extremely badly that he thought it was going to slow down his career in someway (of course it Didn’t) but I think he just didn’t wanna deal with the headache of other peoples careers besides his own are riding on the success of movies being financially lucrative when he knows he’s just never been able to make anything that’s had a mass audience appeal . I think dogma made 30 million and it’s his highest grossing movie besides jay and silent bob strike back
