Hey guys, Please check out my affiliate store - mountainstore360.com I have listed lots of helpful cleaning items including everything I use in the videos. I get a small commission for anything purchased, at no extra cost to you, Which helps me to make these videos. Thankyou
You use bluing for wool to turn it white again. That's the natural color for wool, off whiteish tan. You have to renew bluing on most products. Google bluing for wool and cotton.
Do you have any tips for trying to start your own small carpet cleaning business ? Like how often you should get new rotary heads, good chemicals to use, etc? And would you need any sort of college education?
As someone who works at an animal shelter, donated rugs and blankets are a godsend, and having them already in a good enough condition to be used is so much better. Thank you for your work!
I never thought about donating rugs to shelters. Thank you for this because I have some rugs I no longer use in great condition and would love to be able to help a shelter. I’ll call my local one!
@@andyghkfilm2287 thank you! I have some towels I can donate for sure that are in good shape and most likely a few blankets. I switched mattress sizes and still have the ones that no longer fit. I will happily give them to a shelter. I try and support animal rescues whenever I can!
I've watched a good number of these rug cleaning videos, but never before have I watched one that had black dirt. Dark brown yes, but never black. I am amazed that you were able to clean it so well that the rinsing water was almost clear and the finished rug came out tan. That's phenomenal. And the fact that you donate many of these to animals shelters is so generous. Thank you!
@@diana-1484 I mean, yeah. But also if he didn’t clean it it would be rotting in a landfill somewhere. The water can be filtered out and reused so it’s not a huge waste.
Keeping landfills free, one rug at a time. Some would just consider this rug a loss, glad to see someone putting in effort. The satisfaction must be an incredible payoff. Thanks for this.
With the amount of water and chemicals used to clean it i sometimes wonder if it isn't better to throw it away. Hundreds and hundreds of litres of water for every rug seems like alot
@@anitakovacs9412 My thought is that the video makes it worth it. RU-vid can earn them a little extra, and it's free advertising for the carpet cleaning business. After seeing them clean an extreme case like this, potential customers will have no doubt that they will be able handle more normal jobs, that would be worth doing on their own merits. He said this carpet is so far gone that it's going to an animal shelter. I doubt they are getting paid for that.
I don't think I've ever seen so much filth come out of one rug. I bet it started to feel like it was producing its own dirt as you cleaned it! Well done on this one. Massive undertaking, and a result you should be proud of 🙂
I am no expert, but to my layman's eyes it looked like that rug could have used another 3-4 rinse and squeegee cycles before moving onto the soap. So much dirt was still coming out at each point in the process, and it just felt like watching someone paint a room wall with a fine-haired paintbrush...
I like when you show your work from different angles and how dirty the water is as you push it off the carpets. Amazing that they actually come clean!!! And you have great patience.....I would throw my hands up and forget it lol.
I appreciate that you A)restore lot of rugs for real good causes, and B) that you tell us where they're going :) I love picturing the people/animals who will get to enjoy them once they're all clean!
@@relevant207 would you prefer to sleep on concrete floors or a nice, warm, but slightly stained rug or blanket? I'd definitely prefer the rug or blanket.
Can not overstate my appreciation for the fact that your videos do not have annoying background music, or any voice over (but especially not that tiktok AI voice) It makes them so much easier to wath
the spider at the beginning is a woodlouse spider! they’re nontoxic and are a nocturnal hunter to mostly isopods and other small insects! They are typically found in or under damp logs or somewhere warm. the more you know :)
im glad you put the captions explaining everything back in, even if youve seen em 50 times and know it all its good for people just finding your videos to learn whats up and why youre doing things love the videos as a turn off your brain and watch something for half an hour sorta content too, very relaxing
Thank you for explaining this rug was discarded. I see so many real bad carpet cleaning and look thinking they did this to rugs just for views. I really like that you are cleaning up one rug at a time instead of being thrown away. Thank you
I was convinced that the rug was a light tan/ caramel colour, that’s until you submerged the rug and transformed it to a cream rug, amazing! Keep up the great work James! Thanks for sharing.
I can feel my arms burning just from watching this video. 😩 It's hard work, but it's well done! Thanks for putting in the time to bring us these videos, James!
I was thinking the same thing and the upper back near the shoulder blades and lower back and neck... But then I am a massage therapist watching this thinking he will need a good massage therapist after a rig like that.
I watch these because i like watching others do their jobs without making them uncomfortable thank you for such amazing cleaning and services you provide
He made me wanna start my own rug cleaning services, I have most of those tools already just need to make the drainage system. I love your videos and are soooo satisfying to someone with severe OCD. This looks so therapeutic. I'm a janitor/housekeeper but this looks like fun to me.
@@aliciadeffes9959I’m guessing he’s got a filtration system to reuse the water!! From what I’ve heard, many rug cleaning companies do. Would be such a good payout as well.
To think this rug was such a lighter color before it got this dirty is INSANE,,, I’m new to this channel, I didn’t realize the wonders carpet/rug cleaning can do until I watched a couple of these videos- AMAZING work
You are my favorite of the rug/carpet cleaners. The thing I love the most about your videos compared to others is that your floor is smooth and white. It makes the video so much more enjoyable to watch. Thank you for keeping things visually appealing and your area clean and sterile looking.
It's ok that you can't get every stain out. I just love watching the steps you go through to wash the carpet and reveal the difference of before and after
@@lisajones7510 To me it's the difference between a quick wash of a garment with a spray bottle to spot clean it vs putting it in a sink full of soapy water & soaking it. (Except on a larger scale!)
I would love to know the story behind each of these rugs and how they became so soiled. THEN what happens to them once restored. And add to this the number of hours it took to restore these carpets. So so interesting to watch and so satisfying.
Mountain Rugs donate some of the rugs he cleaned, mostly those found in dumpsters, to animal shelters. Rugs flooded from clients are returned to their owners or, maybe, sell on MR shop.
@@Gribozhuy No, they are often found in landfill/dumpsters, or were damaged in floors, left outside etc. He's very open about how they are sourced/why they're so dirty.
He finds them in dumpsters/landfill, or left out after floods, left outside for months etc. He cleans them then donates them to shelters, charities, animal orgs etc.
Thanks for the captions and explanation of the process. As others have said, it is so valuable, especially for those who are seeing your process for the first time. Excellent job on this one, as well.
I was thinking the same thing! At some points it looks like his whole area is just a big pool but in the next shot it's all gone. I hope there's an environmentally friendly way to dispose of all that shampoo and acidic product.
He has a filtration system that cleans the water for reuse. That's the machine noise in the background and why he shows the bucket of clean water at the end.
I commented a couple of weeks ago saying it was your best rug transformation yet! Well this one beats it by a country mile!! I didn't think you had a chance of getting it clean but you managed as always!! Well done again! Wonder if you can find an even DIRTIER one now??
Just found this. It was awesome I thought that rug would never come clean and then to discover it was cream, ohh so satisfying to watch. Such hard work but a great payoff thank you .
Something about the water coming out black instead of brown is really cool. Wow, I'd never guess there's such light tan carpet under all of the filth. And yay, flooding, that scratched some part of my brain. Good job you 💪👌
After watching the last video I saw (From Gross to Gorgeous) and now this, I am thoroughly convinced that you are really a Wizard and that your "cleaning products" are some kind of mystical potions. What you achieve with these carpets doesn't seem humanly possible without some kind of witchcraft!! In all seriousness, really well done! This is amazing!
Just got back from therapy and this is exactly what I needed to wind down and relax. Love your videos so much, every Friday I'm looking forward to see you upload 🩷🩵
I have watched several different carpet cleaning videos…your is by far the best. I feel (I don’t know) that your carpets are cleaner then any others. I like how you change directions on cleaning, not always in the same way. I like how toward the end it was submersed in water and you going over it. Like a washing machine. Great work Sir…great work. Ps, I also really like how you tell what each machine does, and what your doing and putting on the carpet to clean it. Your amazing.
0:06 Dysdera crocata or “Woodlouse spider.” A specialized hunter, which preys upon terrestrial isopods, more commonly called roly polys, pill bugs, woodlice, sowbugs, etc. Perhaps he lived through The Great Rug Cleaning of 2023 and continues the hunt for itty bitty crustaceans.
It always blows my mind when you find out what colour the rug was meant to be. It's usually during the first pressure wash, but damn... Gets me every time. You do some incredible work in these rugs and carpets. And it's almost hypnotic to watch 😁
This is a man who absolutely cares about his job and the service he’s providing. We need more people like this out there ❤️❤️ pristine work! Question. How come you guys don’t put the rugs on a raised metal grate? Wouldn’t it make more sense to have the soiled water drain down then have it stuck underneath? I mean, you guys do a PHENOMENAL job on getting them clean (you can eat off them!!) but I’m just curious ❤️
I watch three rug cleaners and I am astounded by how clean the rugs get! I think there is no way those rugs are going to be clean! With blood sweat and tears, it looks brand new in the end!! Awesome job 👍👍👍
This is just fascinating to watch! I wonder if you have ever given a tour of your setup and how you maintain it? Specifically where does all that dirty water around the platform go when it gets too full? I would be very interested to see this kind of video as well! Thanks for your time. 😃
He is seen squeezing it to a shallow gutter that has a sump-pump at one end to empty it, we also see him partly fill the tray and put the rug at the edge of the gutter to partly submerge it
WoW!! I wouldn’t have thought this would have come clean. Amazing absolutely blown away. Great job and best wishes to you and your business. This showed how you work. Thanks for sharing ❤🙏🏻👍
Wow! I could almost smell the smoke at the beginning and guessed the rug was light gray. If I had bet, I would have lost! Amazing how much crud was removed to reveal a gorgeous cream rug!
Who would have guessed there was a very useable cream-colored rug under all that crud? The animal shelter thanks you and that rug probably thanks you too. You gave it a new life.
What a phenomenal job! I knew from the first this rug would benefit from a submersion cleaning. Could not believe the amount of black water and gobs of schmootz that came out of this rug. Kudos to my favorite Rug Doctor 👍🏼
Wow! You did a great job at removing all that crud. Mostly I am glad to see you with a water bath. I've been wondering for years why they are not used by more carpet professionals. It sure makes a difference in your time spent cleaning and scrubbing. Also you take care of the back so well. Great technique and great results. Bravo. 👏
Finally, someone who does a Shag Rug and gets it clean. Soak it in deep deep water and swish back and forth with the machine! Yippee. Floats the fibers. Fun camera angle, too. Thanks.
It so amazing to me to see what your hard work accomplishes! The start to finish is like a piece of art! It is not only satisfying but amazing and a pleasure to see what you have been able to save!
Excellect video shots. The closed caption explaing your work is very nice. Choosing a shag carpet is over the top. Best carpet cleaning video I’ve watched so far.
This has got to be one of the dirtiest rugs you've done. It's amazing how late in the process you were still washing out chunks of mud! Fantastic work mate 😄
Wow, this one was so much dirtier than the ones you normally do. I could see all the smoke in the water. Usually the color and pattern of the original rug is obvious by the time you are done squeegeeing off Dirt Reynold's first pass, but this kept me guessing until more than half way through. Amazing job, as usual.
Ooh . . . masses of scritchy brush work. My favourite. And who could have thought there was a nice cream rug under all that filth? Magnificent work, James. You really are the best.
That’s a woodlouse spider! It can give a nasty nip to humans but it is otherwise harmless. I’ve only ever seen one in real life before. I love the colouring of those spiders. Amazing video as always!
Thank you Ellie... My first thought was "Damn, I wish someone in the comments could tell me what kinda spider that is." I've never seen one of those before and yea it has a brilliant coloring to it. Thanks again.
TY for donating that to an animal relocation center, unlike most humans, animals are grateful and appreciative of something simple like a soft place to rest like that rug will provide ❤❤
I am adicted to your work. Your partnership with Dirt Reynolds is fabulous. Watching the slo-mos of SqueeGeePO is so gratiying. The way you work with David Bowie (Under Pressure) is mesmerizing. I can't get enough of R2Clean2; really have a crush on him. And watching Brush Willis and Rake Gyllenhaal wrap things up is ultimately satisfying. Here's to you continuing your collaborations!
I wonder if you start any of these carpets thinking it might be a lost cause. I never saw you submerge the carpet before. I gained a new appreciation for how hard this work is with this one. Thanks James.
I just started watching similar videos, and I think you have a good set up! Keep it contained to a small area and I like how you submerged the whole rug!!
