when cavetown and tessa violet released smoke signals last month i immediately & very frantically began figuring out how to play it. after a lil’ bit of work I came up with a version i, with my tiny baby hands, was able to play. SO i thought i’d share it all with you.

I found the song yesterday and loved it and I searched through over a dozen online resources for tabs/etc and nothing was remotely good but then I found this video and it is amazing so thankyou so much!!

the reason that the chords are so hard to play is that the original song isn’t in standard tuning at all. it’s in some whacky tuning if E A C# G# B e. All the original chords are really simple open chords if you go under “Tabs” in ultimate guitar you can find them. btw Robbie has surprisingly used this tuning in quite a few of his songs (telescope, banana bread, idea of her, ect..) which is the reason why barely any of the online chords sound right. anywho, hoped this helped for anyone who stumbles across this comment :) ps. drink some water, call your nan, have a lovely day :)

Hi, I don't have a uke yet and I want to make a song cover of smoke signals. Can I use you're instrumental version and if possible, can I slow it up a bit for my cover? If I have a uke, i would love to come here again and learn the chords. Btw, it's beautiful!
