Great tip on not cross-contaminating with the injector. I would have probably made that mistake today.

Great informative video! I like the way you explain all the steps including food safety. I just got a 1050 put the LSS stainless steel mods in for the firebox etc. Looking forward to trying a turkey. Thank you for sharing this.

That is awesome, I think the 1050 might be my next smoker. I am smoking a 21 pound turkey on my 560 tomorrow, just finished cleaning it up and the hopper is full. Happy Thanksgiving!

We are considering getting one of the Masterbuilt Gravity smokers next. Would love to get some thoughts on how it is holding up, I have heard the firebox has a tendency to burn out? What do you think of it overall? Thanks!
@thebackyardgriller9076
@thebackyardgriller9076 3 года назад
Hi there, I had heard the same thing before buying mine but I have used it alot and I have been checking for damage and I have not seen any yet. Alot also has to do how one maintains the smokers any smoker, if you leave the ashes for a long time you will start to see rot very fast. I clean my ash pan the next day after every cook and I shake the grate that holds the charcoal to clear any ashes. I am not advertising for Masterbuilt but these things work very well. I saw that Walmart had them for about $300 , might want to check on that. Thanks for watching and I apologize for the paragraph lol!

I think your time to cook is off by 2 hours. I cooked my bird today, same weight and it took 6 hours. Turned the heat upto 300 after 4hrs. It turned out very good. I will do it again but will figure on 6 hours to cook.

It also depends on the smoker and if you are opening the lid too often. I say this because sometimes this happens to me too. The type of fuel also matters.

looks tasty! how many LB is that turkey? was the skin crispy?
@thebackyardgriller9076
@thebackyardgriller9076 3 года назад
It was between 13-14 pounds, yes it was crispy. Notice when I sliced it the skin stayed in tact. That is a good sign that the fat rendered well. Thanks for watching!
