I use pine shavings as well. I hate the way it gums up the lid though compared to using grass clippings.

They work best with goat poop lol! I have been scooping up shavings from the goat barn for years, but I do put grass on top because I have had Amber's blow out

I’ going to give shavings a try. I’ve been using cotton scrap. It is spendy and a pain to light.

Are use the same thing, the only problem is a lot of creosote buildup. Regards from NC
