Not sure if it's intentional or not but his icon both in portrait and on the map being kog'maw is so funny.

I think AD characters that deal physical damage scaling with AP should pick up the insane number of % damage increases on AP items now. You have Liandry's at 6%, Horizon at 10%, riftmaker at 6% for ranged. That's either a 22% damage increase if it's additive (more than fully stacked quickblades btw), or a 23.6% damage increase if it's multiplicative. With Cut the Grass, and a few other increases you could probably see absolutely crazy numbers. Also, I think tank Smolder like you're playing Nasus would be decent. But unlike Nasus, you get stacks like Senna, by trading aggressively. Would probably be good with a Grasp setup. It would allow you to use your E as part of your trading pattern which would allow for a lot more stacks than you're currently getting.

The more stacks you have, the more extra circles that pop out of your Q. You can have a full circle at 2k stacks

Btw, his abilities all do physical damage even when they scale with ap, so building sorc shoes doesnt do anything on ap smolder

They should update the stack indicator to align properly with his passive. Like when q kills minions it shows +1 stack per minion but doesnt include damage on enemys or kills.

Love the new champ being ap/ad viable. kinda like a ezreal or kog. Love champs like that. Also as aside: His spell are all physical damage, so sorcs are not exactly the best cause magic pen doesn't do a lot (some minor with the added damage from passive). Think on ap build Ionians would be the way to go.

The new Luden's Companion is gonna be broken for so many champions, I'm already seeing the AP ashe build using it !

If the splash on Q applies red buff, wouldn't it apply an AoE lichbane too?

Sorc shoes only increasing the damage of the passive dragonfire on abilities didn't really help the damage. My first instinct would be to play this as an ad caster with some lethality, cit and on-hit like hydra sprinkled in. Go nuts with the q farming and basically q - aa - q - aa the entire fight.

I think the build that can suit great is the Manamune-hydra-letality could work really great considering that he does hability dmg.

The sorc shoes and shadowflame are a bit silly considering Smolder's entire kit does physical damage even if you build AP.

I'm curious how phase rush would work on him, seems like you could proc it easily on your flight and then be really fast during that window where you can go over terrain.

I could be wrong but i think the reason your stormsurge and shadowflame didn't proc as much is because they require magic damage, but your abilities all do physical damage even though they have ap scaling. So this could be even more insane with other AP items, and also isn't there a new item with ultimate haste? might be good on him too

Doing like an ap kaisa build with muramana and burn would be very effective, sucks that liandrys doesn't builts out of Lost chapter anymore

As soon as I saw him I thought of taking him mid. Nothing about him really seems ADC exclusive like past releases. Riot has been locking ADC's into the bot lane with gimmicks that require supports, but this feels different.

I think Dark Harvest would work well with his Q, dealing a lot of dmg and his Q collecting the kill. Maybe lethality build with it as well.

Considering all his abilitys do physical dmg the optimal ap route would probably be: cd boots, ludens companion, stormsurge, deathcap, liandrys/lichbane then lord dominiks to make ult hit harder and everything scales with ad anyway so its not a bad buy.

I dont think that buy sorch shoes was a good idea considering that he do mostly physical damage 🤡

If you do AP Smolder I think u almost need to get a Lich Bane since his Q should proc it like Ezreal Q does. Even with 700 AP u were hitting minions with it for only like 300ish damage. Other thing is u need to get some kind of armor pen/shred since all his spells deal mainly physical with just his passive bonus damage scaling off AP. Serylda's could work well since it would add an extra slow to your spells.

After seeing Q proc red buff, I'm more and more convinced that he should be played either nearly full crit for the extra scaling, or nashor's tooth lich bane style on-hit AP. No need for rageblade with his Q and maybe E spamming extra attacks, though it probably wouldn't be bad.

It def looks like it could work REALLY well with different itemization. Like maybe ionians instead of sorcs and liandry's instead of stormsurge. The only thing that really held this build back is the lack of magic damage. Despite all his AP scaling, most of the damage he does is still physical. It's weird. Maybe a mixed build could even work.

25:45 they did take the AD off of Titanic, but they're putting it back on this new season. The Colossus passive that added AD based on max hp is disappearing, but the on-hit still scales with max hp. They're adding the active back to all Tiamat items too, including the new Profane Hydra, kinda replacing Ironspike Whip which is being removed. Acts as an auto-reset.

All of Smolder's abilities deal physical damage with a little bit of magic damage extra. Void staff and Sorc shoes are kind of a waste because magic pen is not the stat you want, you want raw AP and CDR.

I think dropping Stormsurge all together, going Shadowflame 2nd and switching to CDR boots would be be better. Is there a possible bruiser build for him?

Would lethality work, I know he doesn't scale but just adding the extra burst of lethality to his q would be interesting. Probably start with essence for CD and Mana, build lethality items after.

Perhaps a hybrid build would be better similar to doing Kai'sa. Could either do Muramana or that new AP ult item for mana. I'm curious if Muramana does the on-hit with his ability that spreads on-hit as like you said it applies any on-hit. Other things to try is bruiser, on-hit and even lethality since his abilities all do AD damage. Curious if his E does on hit or not. I'm thinking it should if it doesn't.

Play him ap again Zwag but think about a build a little bit more carefull cuz that game you dealt only about 18 000 magic dmg out of that 53 000 so all the magic pen you stacked was useless.

Smolder's ability scalings all contribute to do physical damage and the magic damage part depends on how much stacks you have and even late game it doesn't seem to be a lot. So magic penetration is basically useless. I think it's better to put AD items on him early to output more damage with autos and help stacking then you can add AP items later.

Since he scale with AD and AP, the Heartsteel and AP/AD conversion from health items build seems good on him for max infinite scaling. And his Q will proc Heartsteel and Hydra too

I feel like q max is better on AP smolder because all his abilities scale with stacks and you get more stacks the more often you can cast q.

You could try a max % health build with both Bork and liandrys. So a hybrid burn max health build not sure if rageblade would be good because of the crit passive on abilities though

AD seemed WAY stronger in both pokes and fights. Plus, your ULT is physical so AD is the play. I still think Liandrys could be useful as well for burns but bork would have shredded everyone that game, if not most games. Good fun seeing the new champ, maps and item usage. This season should be fun to watch. Pro scene should be interesting too.

Works with burn, I guess, but not with any of his damage since he's 100% physical (other than stack damage). EDIT2: "Void Staff" ... My friend... He's a physical damage champ. MY FRIEND.

Design-wise, he's kinda archaic. I was hoping for his flight to be a interesting mechanic that's at the core of his playstyle, but it's just a regular ass dash. As a Spyro fan, I am disappoint.

The MAX AP build for Smolder is Liandrys, Lichbane, Horizon, Shadowflame, Rabadons. IN THAT ORDER to stay at peak damage. You can either go Boots or Stormsurge for the 2nd-3rd item. Me personally, I would prioritize the speed buff drags to sub for boots and go with stormsurge as a 3rd item.

Ok, Sorc shoes aside, I guess a Heartsteel-Riftmaker could make a nice core for a tanky/bruiser build. Though I guess you'd still want some damage there like BotRK, I don't know. Titanic doesn't convert HP into AD anymore, so I don't know if you should go full tanky boy. Probably better þo go damage from there. Now the items changed, please do give that tank Cassiopeia a try, replacing Demonic with Riftmaker. Looking forward to seeing the Heartsteel-Riftmaker videos on champs now. :D

ngl from watching your two videos, he just seems like a mage that scales off of crit - going a combo of both crit and AP items might probably the optimal for him since his damage is more impactful from his Q and Ws rather than autos and E Theory build (edit sorc instead of insight): Conq + sorcerer tree Core: ER > Navori > BT Situational (in opinion order): Shadow flame, LDR, IE (if this amps the crit on shadow flame thats insane), RFC, Experimental Hexplate, cosmic drive, liandries, or terminus. from watching his standard ADC game, he seemed to most consistently get two on hits off most consistently (auto + Q) with many ability follow ups. This make ER a must for mana and conq a stronger rune than PTA or comet since his E can stack it quickly if used properly. Sorcerer's provides manaflow which is necessary once he gets spamming late game without autos, and you can go cosmic insight for more CD or gathering storm/scorch for extra damage where you need it. Navori is ideal for extended combat which pairs nicely with conq, and BT will heal a ton off his Q+autos since Q applies on-hit essentially giving him omnivamp on the main Q damage. shadow flame makes his abilities crit, at lower health (albeit only the magic and true damage portions) so by late game his scalings will hit even harder. LDR increases all damage now so its a great item as long as there's frontline, and the rest kinda just amps up whatever hes already doing well by this point in the game (range, movespeed, cooldowns, and/or consistent damage).

Looks pretty alright, but I wouldn't really put him up there with Kog'Maw in terms of "ADC that can go AP". Seems like it falls off late compared to the AD build, or to Kog. AD build is constantly good with Q, E, and ult scales with it too somewhat, plus Q scaling with crit is strong. And AP kog has burst with E Q R, altillery poke with R, and tank melting with W+some attack speed. I think maybe Lich Bane would be better than shadowflame, since you don't benefit as much from magic pen, since ult is physical and the non-stack part of Q is physical as well. Either way, seems like a decent off meta pick at least, definitely better than AP briar that just has E into wall nuke. :P

I mean, he's not a kogmaw. He's literally a Ezreal clone, but better. Skillshot Q(now with stacking!). Penetrating W (now with direct damage and explosion) attack. Mobility E (now with more mobility and damage). Long range skillshot R (now heals you). He's just ezreal, but better. What a dissapointment in champ design, this whole characters kit could literally just be an ezreal update.
