Smolderon Normal and Smolderon Heroic guide! Smolderon is the Firelord boss of the Amirdrassil raid of Dragonflight. This Smolderon guide for Smolderon will walk you through the important healer, tank and DPS raid mechanics you need to clear this Amirdrassil raid boss
Special thanks to OTBDave and friends for the raid testing groups!
You fight Smolderon in two phases. In the main phase, players with Overheated run out of the group while the rest stack with the tank for Brand of Damnation. Heal off the absorbs left by Brand and get away from the resulting explosions. The tasks swap for the second round- make sure to soak with the tank when you don't have Overheated! Bait lava behind the path of the raid or just generally out of the way.
In the intermission, you collect your fire orbs, dodge the rings and burn the boss.
Heroic Smolderon adds waves to dodge from Overheated. The Brand of Damnation tank will have an explosion to run away from the team, and the raid damage will ramp more throughout the fight.

I did this blind and panic disengaged into the lava cause I didn't know the bombs give you like 6 seconds to move, roached out and died at 50% 💀

So, for phase 1 puddle placement, seems like it might be good to kite around the outside of the circle and drop the puddles right behind him Like on Eranog or whatever.

That's what I just did. Seems to work decently. There were a couple people screwing it up by hanging out in the center. So when he leaped to the center it was hard for Melee to get to him:(

As I se it, the "World in FLames" rings are in LFR/normal just 1 ring, on HC several (3?)

0:14 There's our issue. I kept neglecting to run out the overheated as melee dps because I was so focused on the explosion at the end I didn't notice it's also a hefty amount of ticking raid damage. Still not sure how to juggle all the constant movement and raid damage on our poor healers during the ring dance phase but them having extra mana in general can't hurt! Another detail seems to be during that ring phase you get knocked back, then the bubbles fly backwards from you. So if you're struggling to reach the bubbles in time, especially with heroic making the fire rings 2x as fast, *moving towards the edge of the room just before the knockback will give you more time to catch them.*

As a tank, do you soak the first brand of damnation aswell or do you stay out to avoid the debuff ?

You don't. It leaves you with a debuff which makes you unable to soak the next one. Also the first taunt goes to the tank who starts with the small circle to get brand of damnation. Then you soak it, gets taunted off and may then leave to drop off your circle and potential lava pools out of harms way while the other tanks taunt fixate the boss at a desirable location.

@@nozzle-ytI don’t know why but this is the one boss I just can’t wrap my head around the taunt swaps. Say I start tanking the boss, sooner or later I get the big attack on me where people have to soak. The off tank avoids the soak and waits until it happens then taunts off me correct? Then he tanks the boss until the soak happens and I avoid it then taunt afterwards?

@@JonnhyGachette ye it's not hard, but in PUG raids many members die here. Maybe there are some option for helping gamers? Like maybe more range or WA for lines of fire.

You are always my "go to" for reviewing new content, but this video really confused me. It seemed as though you were saying to perform different actions while showing video of your toon doing the same thing repeatedly. Maybe I'm just used to the cute cartoon images for further explanation and description of the abilities and actions needed. Those are the main reason I come to your videos. Keep doing what you do for us. I know you are super busy and this is new content, but I hope that an update of this video with the cartoon images will be released in the future.
