Old School BTS would be their debut June 13, 2013. They debuted in South Korea as a Hip Hop Idol group. Their core is Hip Hop and RnB. They were young when they debuted, ages 15 to 20. 3 rappers and 4 vocalists, and they can all dance amazingly well. I would go as far to say, that BTS are the K-Pop industry standard for Dance, and everything else. Best rappers, best vocalists, and songwriters, composers, and producers. they are pretty amazing. The Era you are listening to is Map Of The Soul (MOTS). This song is the title track for Map Of The Soul: Persona released April 12, 2019, and they had been a group for 6 years at that point. They entered the US Market in 2017, and their popularity in the West took off 2018/19. They are a global supergroup at this point. I would like to recommend a couple songs. I am 61 year old new Silver Army (Silver are Army over 50) 😊and loved hearing the R&B and rap that I could listen to and vibe with. BTS was influenced by the great American artists from rap and R&B of the 90s and I love that time. They also pay homage to their inspirations in several of their rap songs. I am subscribing so that I can watch your BTS journey. You will be amazed like so many of us that are new to BTS and Kpop. 💜

I’m 48 yrs old and was a massive New Edition fan growing up. Still am! The cool thing about BTS is that they do not confine themselves to one genre of music. Their discography is massive and contains pop, hip hop, jazz, edm, r&b, Latin pop, rock, etc. The more you dig into them, the more likely impressed you will be. Just so you know--new stuff since mid 2022 or so is all solos. They took a break from the group to decompress, mature as individuals and prep for their mandatory military service. They are all serving now, with Jin (the eldest, and a vocalist) due to muster out in mid-June. He didn't get much time before enlistment to do more than release one song, so we're hoping for a whole album this summer. J-Hope has been serving for a year and comes out in the fall, but his documentary on street dance (and supporting album) is coming out this Friday--it was all shot before his enlistment. And V just dropped a song he's been sitting on for 2 years--it didn't fit into his solo EP, so he saved it for now. You may have seen other BTS work climbing the charts--we Armies (the fans) have been trying to make sure that their work stays visible. Sometimes it's happenstance, like when two of the saddest songs (Spring Day and Outro: Tear) were suddenly charting the week the youngest 4 members enlisted because we were all playing them for solace. Sometimes there's a fan campaign to feature a past song and everyone gives it a listen again. But mostly we've been so busy listening to new material that the guys had prepared for us that there's almost no time for anything else. Case in point: in theaters in April: a movie of Suga's last solo concert after his world tour. If you like rap and want to see it, would be great for you to give his work a listen in preparation. BTS touches on a lot of different genres. If you like R&B maybe check out Black Swan, Fake Love, and Serendipity. You might like On Kinetic Manifesto and Dynamite as well, but those are more high tempo. All BTS videos have captions 😊 With most songs members of BTS have writing and producing credits.

BTS does r&b, hip hop, rap jazz whatever you want 😊they can deliver. I hope you stick around long enough to react some of their discography they have over 300 songs. I don't really know your taste in music but i heard you mentioned you like R&B so you might like BTS "Black Swan" it is inspired by Martha Graham's quote “a dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful” It is about their fear of losing their passion for making music/art/dance. BTS are based in Hip Hop and R & B however they'll use whatever genre they like as they are 7 all different. All 7 are Song Writers, Composers and Producers each to a different degree. They also an in house team they also use as and when required and now they are so big other people are offering them songs or colabs. They themselves decide what they want to do and who they want to work with same when people offer them a song they make the finale decision if they want to accept it or not. They have complete creative freedom to do what they want and have had that right from the start. The 3 Rappers were part of the underground Hip Hop Scene 2 as Rappers of which one was also a small time Producer while the 3rd Rapper was Street Dancer, silenced to the other 1 Rappers and their Friends and learnt to Rap/write his own lyrics.

Id Suggest Bts Mic Drop and bts Black Swan also We are bulletproof part 2. Bts debuted in 2013 so 10 years ago and they have over 1,000 awards already and they have been nominated 5 times for a grammy as well.

On their mv you can turn on the captions and be able to understand the lyrics. They write and compose most of their songs and help in production also.

They do all sorts of genre's here are a few Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, EDM,Latin pop, trap Hip-Hop, Rock rap and so much more.

Please check out Hip Hop Phile lyric video, then the Live performance. They pay hommage to OG hip hop artists they love. Fyi, they learned hip hop history from Warren G and Coolio and Tony on American Hustle Life, a tv reality series shot in LA in 2014.

If you love r&b I recommend songs like Moving on, Paradise, Love is not Over, Hold me Tight, Outro: Do you Think it Makes Sense?, etc. I believe those will blow your mind by how they sound. None of them have music videos, so you could check out a lyrics video (it'll play the song & and show what they're saying). Bts are so different 🔥👏🏽.

AND *Film Out live, my recent fave is the Sowoozoo live performance. BTS is not a boys band it is a group of 7 very multi talented individual, more you will listen to them more you will love them. They are also truly kind people which is very rare in that industry. You never know what you will get with BTS. All of the members have written and produced songs but the VAST majority are written by the rap line (RM - the leader, Suga and J-Hope). The rappers have been full members of the Korean Music Copyright Association for years and have written hundreds of songs. JK was promoted to full member status a few months ago. Since you like all kinds of music, I will suggest some that are different from each other. Mic Drop Black Swan Stay Gold Born Singer live Blood Sweat and Tears You are going to love all of the members different styles. V is into Jazz and has a very R&B voice. Try “Slow Dancing”. Jimin is more pop, but I would say his pop and JK’s are different . I love both. Try “Set Me Free” Jin - I am not sure how to describe Jin’s music… I’ll just say that besides his nickname of “World Wide Handsome” he is also called “Silver Voice”. Try “Epiphany “live Jung Kook, the Golden Maknae (youngest) try “Euphoria” live in Japan. Rappers (the rappers have so many different sounds. One song may be groovy and the next is rock. I think you would really love Black Swan by BTS. That song def has r&b vibes but then witches it up with beats for a smooth rap flow. One of my fav songs and my fav album Map of the Seoul 7. All their tracks are a hit

They write for themselves for the most part. Came from a small company that didn't have a lot of money at the time so they couldn't pay a lot of out of house people.

BTS stands for “Bangtan Sonyeondan” (Fairly certain I didn’t spell that correctly, even though I’ve been Army since 2017. I’m sorry!), which means “Bullet Proof Boyscouts” in English. In other words, no matter what criticism or negativity is thrown at them, they are bullet proof AND it is their goal to support their fans to create that same strength and to help us learn to love ourselves. Even though you are absolutely correct that you can enjoy and appreciate their music without understanding, you will lose the significance which draws so many of us into awe. You will also find that these men are consistently genuine, honest, humble and hilarious. I am a 74 year old American woman who has been living in Europe for 35 years years. I lived and worked in Northern Germany for the first nine years where I met my Swedish husband. I have lived in Sweden for the last 26 years. You will find that Armys come in all ages and are found all over the world. I also recommend Taylor Mari’s video “An Introduction to BTS” as a terrific way to learn the background of the group and to “meet” the members. BTS usually write their own songs, but this was aimed at the US audience and was not from their own pen. However their performance is always spit on. Most fsns think their Korean or Korean/English songs are more authentically them. Did you watch Black Swan or Blood Sweat and Tears yet? Or if you are a hip hop rap guy try their early song Hip Hop Lover. They have hundreds of songs in many genres, going back over the last 11 years, also there are their solo efforts.

I would like to just mention that KPop is not a genre but an industry. BTS covers many genres. BTS do not lip sync. They always make it very clear that they have backing track playing typically for a fuller sound, and allow it to take over if necessary with some of the very intense choreography. If that happens they do not pretend they are singing. They believe in being genuine and giving the best authetic performance, and get upset if they can't. For instance, there is amazing footage of Jimin breaking down in tears towards the end of The Truth Untold because he couldn't sing his part properly. ARMY sang his part for him 😢

This one Dynamite butter and permission to dance dont give you a full view of who they are. Play the multiple different genres the three rappers all have different style and so do the vocalists from the group songs I recommend Black swan, on , mic drop and blood sweat and tears or any of the solo songs one of the vocalists v has he has a brand new song called fri(end)s out you should check out. In South Korea it's mandatory for any man the age of 21 to spend two years in the military but because of the impact the Korean government created a bill extended the enlistment deadline to age30 deal with the qualifies for that extension as of now is BTS. We army (Bts fan base) Love respect and protect our 7 as we wait for come back in 2025. BTS and army have a really deep connection. They love us just as much as we love them you will see in the Taylor guide what i mean what was it important for you to know if they are genuinely amazing people with great hearts who are extremely hard-working intelligent and talented the leader RM is a quantifiable genius with an IQ of 148. He also writes a majority or helps write the music.
