If anyone face any problem with the solid going transparent then please change the paint style in effect>strokes setting from original image to transparent.

Hey, make sure you have the clock 'end' clicked. The animation won't work if you dont select it

+Dina's Wanderlust Try to add a new Solid with different color, and see if it is still Grey.. I think you are getting Comp's background color, not a actual color..

Absolutely Genius. I have no idea why I never clocked onto the fact that I could just used this Track Matte method. I was always doing my strokes normally on the layer with the reveal option. *Silly Me* Thanks a lot for the vid.

If someone is struggling with somekind of filling an existing shape rather than making the shape appear, try to change "paint style" in "effect control" panel to "On transparency".

Just in case that no one mentioned it yet in the comments: Instead of a solid, you can also use an adjustment layer to create paths and as well as apply the stroke effect if you want the text to be placed against any background. :D

Ok just worked it out in stroke settings i put paint style to "On transparent'' instead of on original image, thanks for the tut really helped out

When setting the path, how did you switch from letter to letter without the pen tool reaching from one letter to the next? Like.. how did u seperate the paths? Is it a keyboard shortcut? 2:10

+MiccBandz While creating mask, complete one letter, and then Click on any other Anchor Points of that created mask (except last anchor point), then you'll be able to draw a new mask on other letter.. :)

just please don't use annoying music anymore. if you choose music, pick something conducive to learning, i.e. something ambient and quiet and non-offensive. this sorta music like here makes my heart race and my ears wanna bleed. otherwise, thanks for your effort and work!

If you were Udo Kier, you wouldn't write this comment. That man has taste... Firstly, I did thank the uploader. Secondly, if he follows my feedback - which I am entitled to give here, that's partly what comments are for - then he won't have to read a critical remark like mine again. I think he probably realised what I meant. There's background music and then there's music that's REALLY offensive because it is THAT bad. No one needs to choose the latter.

After switching brush style to Reveal Original Image, the text appears as dark grey, even though I've selected white. Help.

If you create a new adjustment layer instead a solid layer for the "Trace stroke layer" you would get transparent text effect. This would help if you are use this animated text on top of a picture or video.
