collecting my pension from IH (Navistar) The Joke was if you were ever on a highway and passed another Travelall you always beeped and waved as you knew it was another IH employee because nobody ever bought those Travelalls. Great vehicles and along with the scouts if IH could have made them for a few more years it could have caught the 4X4 craze and would be a different company today as they were in fact much better than most of what was produced by the big three.

Good stuff! In the late '70's I had a '73 2wd Travelall that color with a black roof and the faux wood on the side. These days I have an '02 Subaru Outback which does amazingly well on trails like that and goes a lot farther on a gallon of gas than the 392 in my Travelall did but I sure miss that beast all the time.

Thanks for posting. Our family owned several IH vehicles over the years. If you could stay away or ahead of rust, fixed the little quirks and stayed away from the Jeep straight sixes they stuck in some, they ran well usually. We ran either the International fours or the SV 304 or 345 V8. This looks like a fun trip.

OMG Dad had a gold Travelall growing up.. 3 on the tree and holes in the floor... all we had to do to clean the inside was hose it out. The original suburban!!!

I have never seen a IH Traveall maybe they weren't sold around here. I Thought the Chev Suburban was the first four door SUV. I was wrong. Good stuff Steve.

Judging from your videos that I have watched I can’t imagine there was much at that expo that would really interest you. That looks like a pleasant trip.

I actually signed up for this but didn't end up going on it. I was the at expo in Springfield with a friend and we decided to do our own trail drive in the same area as your route on the same day in our Toyota Tercel 4WD wagons. We found some mud pits and had fun :)

I like the International. I almost bought one back in the 90's, but bought a Plymouth Trailduster. The Internationals seem to have appreciated better.
