Outside of you making a simple pork stock with some pork bones, I don't know of a substitute Laura. You could use chicken stock but I love the idea of the pork stock. Thanks for watching.
@@mamaandpapajoe We would go to Mrs. White's every Friday. It was a famous soul food spot in Phoenix in the 80's. Smothered pork chops and sweet potato pie. btw.... I meant to say until your recipe I had never had better smothered pork chops. Your recipe is better. Good thing Mrs. White has passed or she would be yelling at you from the kitchen!
Made this again last.... replaced the chicken broth with the Minors. So good! Our out of State relative visitors said, jokingly, that they will only return to visit if i promise to make this again. Btw one of the relatives hates cabbage but ate two servings of the cabbage!
