COMMON SENSE: use what you can afford. She prefers the products she uses. Use what YOU prefer. No need to complain about how YOU don't like how SHE uses expensive products. I used to learn from these kind of tutorials when all i had was a Chinese brush set and a Chinese eyeshadow palette (that 120 palette, remember those?) and could still make great looks. Plus, there are plenty channels that show tutorials with affordable products and brushes. Just use what she does as a reference and make it your own. You could use a couple blending blushes and some drugstore makeup from Walmart and have fun. Do your research. Adapt your knowledge. Practice.
I can afford better, but still use what you said about the brushes. The difference is the amount of pigment you get. Even dept store make up can give you faint pigment. That eye requires you to build. Not slap it all on at once. What cracks me up is having clean brushes everyday. Like there is time for them to dry if you clean them at night, or you have time to clean them right away, before work or a party.
I agree. They say do eyes OR lips like how they say you should boobs OR legs not both. I think when you've a bold eye the bold lip is too much would look lovely with a nude lip. I like this tutorial though, she's beautiful eyes and seems like such a nice person.
Maya Mia, you do apply shadows with surgical skill & the eye-shadow formula's are so illustrious whether they are pressed or. loose or creams( Not big on them)in trays or eye color tube & wand type some I like.Even after 40+years of x-dressing as ,makeup was my 1st love.yes even for some boys, I apply the stuff like a bricklayer and the canvas I paint is mere boot leather ,think steel toe and worn work boots,now how many girls can makeup an old boot into Cinderellas you know.As anyone can Mia you do it VERY well keep up the good workGOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW LINE OF MAKEUP MAYA MIA...I have a sweet neice of 8 or 9 named MiA. bye :-)

the day i discovered that my eyes were considered "hooded"(something most people wouldve just known about themselves)everything changed & i realized that i didnt actually suck ass at doing eye makeup, i was just doing it the way i saw it in the tutorial.and since 80% of makeup tutorials i see on youtube feature women with the same general wide almond eye shape, i thought it was the only way. but im glad i have been able to find at lest a few makeup artist's channels that either have my eye shape or use different models for each video. now if i could find one that has the same eye shape AND skin tone, thatd be great. srry for the rant.
Ended up looking like a raccoon no matter which tutorial I follow Update 2017 august 21: I finally did it. After a whole damn year. Not a racoon. Looks like I came out of the boxing ring with bruises on both eyes
I have never done eyeshadow before in my life. I had been given a naked eyeshadow palette for my birthday, and after I was finished with your tutorial.. it was AMAZING!! I received so many compliments. Thank you for the awesome tutorial!!
in my opinion, the best way to learn how to do makeup is do it yourself sure you could get inspiration from youtube but everybody is different, different blending skills, different eyes, different makeup but to me, best way is experimenting by yourself and practice! Theres no certain order to at all honestly, and its fun and so pretty :)
How is it, that I can make a lifelike pencil drawing that's so realistic people think it's a photograph, but when I try this on my own face I turn out like a panda?
For the girls saying they tried and wound up with a black eye or it wasn't flattering. Try doing it a teeny tiny bit higher. I have pronounced almost hooded crease and going barely above that is the make or break for a smokey eye. Also, go sparing with the black. I do a much tighter lower eye liner too so I don't look like a clown. I hope that helps someone. Loved this video Maya you are stunning.

Never been an eyeshadow girl it's hard, takes the right brushes and the right products to get it right. Although mine didn't come out dead on like hers, using my ecliptic brushes and my too faced palettes, I was able to execute a very cute Smokey eye that for one I thought eye shadow looked pretty on me! Haha love this video. Just what a newbie like me needed

thanks so much for a very through demonstration. I feel confident on how to make a smokey eye and applaud you on the prep work you showed before you start the task of the smokey eye transition. I've seen many video's on how to make a smoke eye, although they leave out the prep work which really helps the smokey eye stand out. Please keep it up and look forward to see how to make those glamorous cat eyes and lashes.
Not that I would know how you could improve, but I would love a 'get ready with me' type video, and also something showing where you live, what your hometown looks like, some insight into your daily life and personality. I think that would expand your RU-vid presence and endear people to you even more. We see and enjoy how incredibly talented and beautiful you are, (and your humility is so refreshing, the vanity and shallow nature of some 'beauty gurus' on here is so unattractive). There are plenty of beautiful people in the world, but not a lot of beauty with humility and appreciation. Good on ya ;-)
She did a great job. There are no two correct ways to applying makeup. For the ones who don't know about makeup, please pay a mua to do your prom makeup. Not everyone learns makeup or has a knack for it naturally or lease we will all look super fab.I too am a makeup artist and every day is a learning process.

That look good on you because the color of your eye's, I couldn't pull this look off because the cold of my eye's. I think black eyeshadow only look good on girl's with pretty eye's.

always keep the darker shades below the crease, and neutral shades in it, and then a highlight on the brow bone. It might be because you brought the dark shades above or in your crease. just a thought, hope this helps 😊

JuliTay York Try using a powder to set! My favorite is MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Medium Plus :) It's super light, doesn't cake on and gives you and super gorgeous airbrushed look.

It's sad that there are still people that feel makeup is only done by those who aren't happy with themselves. Makeup is a form of art. Art is a form of expression and it's fun to mess around with. Not everyone that wears it is insecure.
