I just bought an A12, and I'm really happy with the image and video quality of it. Just keep in mind it has no optical image stabilization, so in some cases you may need to use digital stabilization after getting your video-shots. Other than that, a very reasonably priced phone that will cover your basic needs.
@@darknight4787 Hi there. I'm sitting using it right now as we speak. Yes, I'm almost(!) perfectly happy with it. And I say "almost", because the thing I mentioned in my first comment - the lack of optical image stabilization - is something I'm really missing. (As I enjoy making RU-vid videos as a hobby. If you want to see some stuff I've filmed using this phone, check out the latest upload on RU-vid-channel called "supergenki", approximately half the shots are made using this phone) Apart from that feature, yes I can honestly say I'm happy with the phone. And I noticed some people complain about the display isn't bright enough, I can't recognize that at all, and I'm even living in sunny Bangkok at the moment. So I say go for it, if you're thinking about getting it. You get a lot of phone for a low price. Cheers.
I am glad I found your video. I was checking online and came up with these two phones in mind. I think I am going to go for A02s in this difficult time. $50 goes a long way.
I just bought the A02s today because I didn't have the budget to go for the A12 but I'm happy to see that I didn't miss out on that much anyway. Great Review👍
Both phones are nice for the price, but if I was going to buy one of them, it'd be the A12. The fingerprint scanner, and slightly better processor are more than worth the higher price. Not to mention the better camera.
Dang! The addition of a food filter is what makes the A12 the clear winner! But in all seriousness, I never got significantly better or more interesting photos out of the food filter of my A51. What's cool though is that both the A02s and the A12 have the pro mode.
I think both of these devices are nice options for family members who don't care about specs, but the camera upgrade on the A12 is definitely worth the extra money imo.
Thanks for doing this comparison! Personally I choose the A02s, especially if it launches for $150. You get a majority of the features on the A12 for $25-$50 less
Wow, the A12 is literally at A21 level already. Quad camera on the second lowest end phone of the new Samsung Galaxy A era. Samsung's really pulling through.
i notice that the a12 has the same processor as the 2020 a21 i just got so things seem really promising for cheap and low mid range phones in feature. maybe flagships will be in trouble because of all the things coming out on phones with a more reasonable price tag. the a 21 feels like a huge upgrade to me because before i owned a slow outdated zte phone with zero camera quality and very weak snap dragon processor which was super laggy. Then i looked up what processors the helio p35 competed against in the snapdragon family and the improvement is substantial because the device i had before was a snapdragon 235. the only cameras i had were a two magapixel shooter and a five megapixel selfie camera. Im glad now that have a phone where i can take pictures and at least feel satisfying for everyday functionality. I love the camera options and the quad camera. Most of all what i love though is that the smartphone market has become much more pleasant and easy to deal with in the budget or low mid range space because it helps young people or people who cant afford something ultra expensive devices to have a more premium experience for a lower price compared to two or even three years ago.
In India the galaxy a12 is being sold alongside the galaxy m12 and the f12. The price of galaxy m12a mad f12 are 11000 and 12000 rupees respectively, which is significantly better than a12 cause they have better processor, the exynos 850, and is also 1500 to 2000 rupees cheaper than a12.
Seeing that I keep a phone for at least 3 years, I'll pay the extra for the better quality camera and fingerprint lock. Of course it's already August and I'm moving on from an LG Stylo 3 Plus. Late to the party again! Thank you for the excellent reviews. 👍
I got my FREE LG Aristo 2 with my Metro phone plan in 2018, and it still works fine, it's just the display is starting to get that digi-burn, like I can see the matrix thru videos. and it's only slightly and when I have my brightness above 90%. I'm now looking at these two phones as an upgrade, $70 and $130 respectively. I was gonna go to the a12 and feel like I got a "good" phone, but I never use the cameras unless it's for a purpose. I actually have electrical tape on them.. so obviously I would also rather not have fingerprint tech on my phone as well. gonna go for the A02s and hopefully it lasts me another 4 years.
This budget phones are slightly identical. I got A12 & I think the performance is promising, battery is good, I never experienced over heating body like my previous Samsung phone. Just dnt expect for the other feature, battery performence is what I need.
It's just a fine minus phone. It's not good at doing anything... Like there's nothing on this phone which you can point at and say " this phone does that really well."
I just got the A12 yesterday.... And well let's say other than the interesting back panel design and tbh "not too shabby" cameras... Just the same really (I've 'upgraded' from the A20)
tl;dw -> These phones are *way* too similar 🙃 I dunno why Samsung gotta make things complicated like this lol ---------------------------- Samsung A12 on Amazon: geni.us/Ia6wJfP Samsung A02s on Amazon: geni.us/icnGhQS
How much does each phone weight? Carpal tunnel, arthritis and fibro require lightweight and I've heard AO2s is heavy. Samsung's website doesn't provide weight on their website either...
I got a refurbished Note 10+ recently after my budget phone crapped out. Incredible performance. I can actually be productive with this thing. You can literally use it like a Windows PC and everything. I'm starting to see that these high end phones are actually worth their asking price.

Wait another few mos when the battery goes or it starts having problems. Not worth 1000$ no way
@@SyedAsad no it was from Walmart. I physically walked in , didn't order it offline. I think it said it was marked down from $100 I believe . I didn't do any research other than read the box . It was a Verizon prepaid model. I have a regular plan but I needed a phone because mine got wet , so i just went in and saw the 5000maH battery and the decent camera and bought it . None of the other devices under 200 came close so it seemed like a good deal but I could believe how much I saw them going for online when I was ordering a case.
@@danielmims8467 Damn I see, I'm getting this phone for my mum as a birthday present, I checked the stores online and all of them are giving different amount of prices, so I'll just visit the official store of Samsung and will get one, glad I couldn't find a better phone than this in this budget.
@@SyedAsad yeah I've had it for about 2 weeks now and so far its fast enough , the battery life is outstanding, and the camera is really good too. I don't know where you are located but if there's a walmart close by , its worth a shot. Nothing in the budget under 200 that I saw on the shelf came close . I used to be a big fan of Samsung phones and the last Samsung I bought before this was a note 5 when it launched and on the first system update a month later broke the phone and made the battery not charge. Then one of my friends upgraded his and his wifes note 5s so he gave me both of them as a tip for a tattoo I did on him. So I popped my sim card in and kept postponing the updates and one day accidentally hit update and the same thing happened to the other one and it was when they made the battery non removable so I was screwed . I got a LG v20 which I used up until 2 weeks ago which might be my favorite phone ever. It had a removable battery , headphone jack, ir blaster, and the digital audio dac that was a awesome phone. It was like they took every criticism from Samsung and apple phones and made a phone for those people. I bought extra batteries and a cradle charger for them so if my phone died I'd just pop in another battery. Anyway lol I'm ranting haha. I was just saying I was apprehensive to buy a Samsung phone after my 3 note 5s died because of a software update . I loved them before that but this new budget phone is pretty cool. Still needs a removable battery if its not waterproof imo
@@danielmims8467 Damn, seems like you've been through a lot with phones lol, and u ain't ranting at all lmao. Personally Samsung is the only phone I would buy, since I was a student it wasn't in my hands, my last Samsung phone was Galaxy J5, lost it in 2017, still I'd say it was a beast, the unbeatable camera and a sexy look, after that I had to get a cheaper phone cause it Samsung phone's weren't in my budget, but now I can get whatever I want since I started working, getting for my mum first, I'd probably go for S20 with a down payement lmao, can't sell my kidney so I better monthly , damn I talk a lot, Pardon me
Given I do not care about gaming, so processor performance would not be an issue for me, but the fingerprint reader and improved camera would be more important (although a shame about the lack of night mode even on the A12).
Both processers are old. Samsung selling old internals in their 2021 budget phones.i have the 450 in the older LG Stylo 4 & it wasn't a very good processor the. The P35 slows down month by month. No budget A series phone for me if they are going to cheap out on all the A series phones.
It feels like "power" moved to midrange and budget users are stuck with really outdated specs and features. I would encourage people to spend a little more, if they can, for something at least decent. You can find better cheaper phones with Motorola or an older flagship.
I believe all Samsung devices have knox security. Else, people can use their weakest phone without knox and hack into OneUI and find out secrets about it.
@@Birbyvideography no only the A series devices and not all of them and the S and Note series devices have this knox security. Only the M31s and the M51 are the exception at present, in spite of being M series devices ,these phones are equipped with knox. Many entry level A series phones even do not have knox.
Thanks very much. I just want to buy phone for my dad. I really don't know what is difference this phones. Now I know difference. Thanks for the honest interview. I buy for him 02s
For people who are PWM Sensitive, the A02S is the way to go as it has 0 PWM... The A12 has 337 PWM though which might be high enough for some sensitive people
I'm from Austria and bought yesterday A12. The consultant said its better than A02, like better battery and performance. The thing is its only 2d day but already some details irritate me in this A12. Like sometimes it freezes while I'm typing on keyboard or want to open more tabs in Chrome, or while I'm typing it doesn't work really smooth and lags a bit. Plus this tft display is really weird. Like with colors and contrasts. I dunno. I feel like older refurbed iphone or samsung galaxy s7-9 might be still worth buying for this price. Or some other company. I just feel these budget Samsung phones are not so really great..:/
Bought the A12. Not for camera or the sound quality because my last phone was 5 yrs old. So ANY PHONE is an upgrade lol. I have memory again. A screen without cracks, no rattle coming from speaker. Battery not needing charged after an hr use 😴. If i get same yrs out this 1 i'll b happy
I recently bought the A02s, now I have seen your review I am glad I did not pay more for an A12 there is no significant advantage to justify the cost difference. On the plus side the A02 is faster lol.... Thank you for confirming I made the right choice :0)
Okay so I bought the ao2s yesterday and I'm not sure i like it, camera is terrible and it's really hard to take a screen shot lol..also I can't tap on the screen to turn it on I have to push the button every time
Nah these budget phones still seem to sale more. Its definitely gotta be because of the Confusing ass names Xiaomi has also there chinese and have alot of bloat and malware
@@sdsd4108 people buy Samsung smartphones just to flex on their friends "oh look i got a Samsung device" cuz Samsung is known for high prices and low specs in low budget but still the chinese phones are the real bang for the buck as they say By the way i have a Samsung phone and i don't hate it just saying that samsung needs to bring some new features to budget phones not downgrades
@@redaanalla9458 I have never seen a person flex a budget samsung😂😂Anyways if you want a big bang for your buck,go for old flagships such as a Oneplus 6t,7t or a Pixel 3a or 4a cause those phones are incredibly cheap for there specs and there going around for 150-260 on ebay
@@redaanalla9458 and they dont become incredibly slow after 1 year of usage unlike Budget Samsungs and Xiaomi phones. Cause my cousin has a Redmi note 8 pro and his phone is already really slow
@@redaanalla9458 these old flagship phones are powerful enough to run Pubg and Fortnite at 60 fps while the redmi note 9 and Realme 6 and 7 can barely run it at 30-40 fps in medium settings
Dude said mainly used for text call and social media . Me over here on my A02s playing moeba gacha hack and slash and online tcg games lag free best budget phone I ever bought 💯 . Either is a good phone though
I had an A02 S, and it was an OK phone, but it would CONSTANTLY disconnect from my wifi. I just bought a, A12 (it should arrive today). Hoping I don't have the wifi issue with this one.
i have a camera but sometimes i dont wanna lug around a huge camera, the a12 is gonna be it for me cause its sometimes better to slip a phone in your pocket and go (i take a lot of photos and videos)
what do you suggest? i think im getting A02s, the purpose is just videotaping, playing videos, taking pictures,no games, do you think its okay to choose A02s?
I think I’d still cop the A12, I just wish it had a little more to offer..I’m interested to see how the A22 fits in with these phones because that might be the baseline phone I’d recommend now
