Not really. they're both two seperate competitions. But this playoff system is like a third thing but you qualify for it with your points in super cross and motocross. If it sounds stupid it's because it is. However, it will be cool to see a fall competition, no matter how goofy the standings are.

@@dogsmith I watched Red Bud it was dope. I found the dates but I still don’t understand how they qualify and what the point of this all is? Cause some guys didn’t race both outdoors and indoors
@@iceKOId yeah some good racing there. World Supercross was also fun this week on Fox Sports 1. Regarding qualifying, you are definitely at a disadvantage if you don't race the outdoors as well as the indoors. Or vice versa. but obviously guys like Roczen who consistently finished very high can afford to take a lot of those races off. If you finish top 20 you'll start the play offs with points. 26 points for whoever gets first and then it goes down from there. if you don't finish top 20 I think you have to do LCQs to even try to race. and you're at a disadvantage because there's no points for you at the begining. If this seems confusing it's because it is. it's silly. I'm just gonna enjoy the racing.
Because the inclusion of “playoffs” made Peacock/NBC excited and got the series’ and promoters lots of money. Now they can have a large pay out at the end of the year for all the riders. It’s just a 3 race final at the end of the year. SX and MX are still the same as stand alone series.
One good thing is that nothing really changed. they still got a super cross champ and a motocross champ. this play off thing is just something that hasn't been fully thought out yet.
Playoff races are gonna be cool. Hopefully the racing is good even though the “hybrid” tracks usually aren’t that good. Coming back to the Colosseum is awesome either way and I can’t wait 👏
the more I learn about the play off the less I like it and the more I realize that the money is big deal here. Not the competition. the competition is random. the best racer may win. Or it may go to the guy who was lucky enough to win when points were doubled . I'm definitively gonna keep my own score and see how it differs from the real one. Pro Motocross championship and super cross championship are more meaningful. the money should go to those two competitions instead.

While I appreciate Weege and JT always being professional and extremely competent in their line of work, this low-budget media that SX/SMX produces for us (the actual fans) is borderline offensive. It’s like they want the sport to grow, but are not willing to invest in one of the most powerful ways to grow the sport. Imagine a professionally produced sports center type of show with guest speakers, people dressed well, highlights, stats…etc. This is like us listening in on a zoom call. Do your job better, it’s no wonder why we aren’t on the main stage
Having James Stewart in the booth announcing at these races hands down makes the commentary a lot better. He adds personality where Ricky and the guy usually there with him seems incapable of doing. They make it really boring and not interesting enough for most to pay attention to.
Playoffs not so sure, lost lots of interest in Nascar years ago because of playoffs. Wait and see? More dirt bike racing is good. Thinking of like 3 monster cup races. Don't remember other major sports talking about the money to be made all the time.
Blah blah blah. Loosing interest real fast. Only thing that would be a cool story line is if Jett raced both classes and took all the money. Not sure if that would even be possible by the rules.
