When will LRASM be fired from the VLS tubes?? We need that ASAP...

They have tested an LRASM using an ASROC launcher. The Navy instead is in the process of converting TLAM into Maritime Strike Tomahawk which can also hit ships. LRASM was acquired on OASuW 1.1 (Offensive Anti-Surface Weapon) which is to buy an air-launcher anti-ship missile.

If NSM missile has a land attack capability then why are KOngsberg and Raytheon developing a successor to the NSM, the so called JSM or Joint strike missile which will have land attack capability besides the anti ship capability. It will also supposedly be much more advanced with upgraded sensors. Why not just upgrade the NSM and voila, you don't have to develop a whole new missile. Strange.

JSM and NSM is the same missile, JSM is basically redesigned NSM for internal bay of F-35.

@@myms7375 Those are not the same missiles. JSM had a much more advanced seeker. Since its primarily a dual mode missile for land attack and anti ship role. NSM on the other hand had only a limited land attack capability.

@@vegass04 the difference is only the warhead, both still have same passive seeker and terrain database.

@@vegass04 well then you answered your own question lol. LRASM is badass with a 1000 pound warhead. Does a hell of a lot of damge. Now imagine a few years from now when these things are going mach 5....oh boy
