My heart goes out to the devs that crunched for months to try and make the original 2023 release date for Ark 2, only for all their work to be put into this uncertain limbo that may never see daylight, and then have to crunch again to get ASA functional. The thing that frustrates me the most about ASA's direction is that it seems to be primarily a graphical upgrade with light QoL upgrades. Of all the things ASE players have been asking for in a remake (better UI, better dino AI and pathfinding, fixed meshes, better performance), ASA either fails to meaningfully improve on ASE or even worsens the issues. Fancy lighting and 4K textures might make for good trailers, but expecting players to pay full price again for the game (and much more for the hardware to run it) is a hard sell when nothing we actually want upgraded is being focused on.
People really haven’t iterated this and I do agree that they probably were working their butts off trying to get ARK 2 to be atleast somewhat playable by 2023. Sad that it won’t release any time soon😕
Agreed to the vast majority of the above. I need to build a new PC for ASA, however, to be fair it was already low for ASE. I do look forward actually seeing the graphics. Maybe by December I will finally have the parts.
What pisses me off, is I'm playing games from 2013 right now, and they look GREAT... RUN even BETTER. Why do they constantly feel the need to upres EVERYTHING. Ark Survival Evolved look alright, all they needed to do was find a way to make ASA be compressed, load quicker, and look a LITTLE better and I'd have been happy.
nah fam... did you not want every single blade of grass to be textured, and all those useless particles to see each part of dust and trees.... much better than fixing the bugs right?
@@goobertfroobert5572 yeah I can play with Xbox ps5 and pc friends on ASA. Me being large variety of gaming friends I like we can all play together on ASA. I love evolved but no mods on consoles, no cross play limit my enjoyment for ASE. I play ASA on ps5 don’t have any crash issues unless I go near a huge base with every Dino out.
@@allytank-itykitty7417 I would if they focus on bugs more of course. I have more bug issues on ASE then ASA. I personally think they should take out fog, clouds, and other useless not need graphics but they won’t listen to me 🤷🏾♂️.
After the failed release of The Island to ARK Survival Ascended, I wrote off the game with no plans now of ever coming back. So much happier than playing ARK and watching it slowly go down in flames. More people are playing ASE than ASA right now. There is no path forward. Abandon ship before you too go down with it.
I'll always be hopeful for Ark 2 because i'd love to experience a "new" Ark game, but I'm very much looking forward to the UE5.4 update. I'm not surprised that it probably won't come with Aberration though, although I think it's best if it doesn't.
ue5.4 will not change performamce much, there are plently of ue5 games that run perfectly fine, the problem is in design choices of asa and the refusal to add lower graphics settings (ignoring unlocked console stuff and hacks). even at launch they could easily have added sensible graphics settings and they chose not to. why? idfk honestly no design choices of asa make any sense to me.
Well they fluttered away all the money from Ark that they made and didn't invest it back into the franchise and were literally forced to release an unfinished Ark reboot thats a glitchy mess and is unoptimized greedy and corrupt people in charge
To be fair when Ark originally released a 560 couldn't run it for a damn. It wasn't a good card but it was a consumer card, so they've never really pandered to current tech.
I can see Ark 2 being just like enshrouded tbh... Ark but with a better combat system, if they try a souls like combat it will suck, think of the amount of bugs and problems Ark has, and how precises you have to be in any Souls games... the experience will suck so badly given their current track record.... also I do not think it will come out this year or next, and if it does it will be terrible optimization and tons of problems. in fact I think they will blame the players for not liking ASA and call to can Ark 2 because they cannot get enough funding towards it now.
10 fps... I heard that's a thing if your run it in dx11 mode. But otherwise no. I get a rock solid 30 fps (frame rate capped) . Everything on low. Occasional loading pauses. I have a i7-4770 16GB ram and a Radeon VII 16GB vram. Run the game off an SSD. However, it crashes regularly with GPU has gone away error. I think that's a GPU driver issue and amd isn't issuing driver updates to fix things in new games. Ie driver issue that won't be fixed.
Honestly, as much as I love ARK, we have given this shitty company owned by a shittier company SO. MANY. CHANCES. We bought their broken game, bought the broken DLC which came out while the basegame was still in early access. We bought Abberation, Extinction, Genesis. Many of us even bought the broken remake of the broken game. Nothing has changed or will change. Again, I love ARK to death, but I do not believe it has a future. I think ARK 2 is dead, and I can only hope they manage to patch up ASA enough for it to be playable, before they completely abandon it.
Souls like combat as in attacks dodge blocks parry counters etc not a souls like game. It just means its not a button smasher anymore for hand to hand combat it will actually take skill. Most likely why a lot of people dont even want to try because it will stop the if you have better gear you will destroy the opponent. having the ability to dodge, counter, and parry will drastically change the tides of hand to hand combat for the better. Ark 2 was always going to be an online multiplayer open world like ASE.
ark is the reason I always updating my gpu since 2015 about 2 years ago i bought 4090 and ASE performed 4k 90plus fps on max settings. In ASA I cannot have all max on 4k and get same fps. still playing 4k with 60+ but with some options on high not epic. and with DLSS. I also play meny different games so no complaints from my side, but nex GPU update will be with ark2)) otherwise I stuck with 4090 for 3-4 years or even more
What’s crazy is that everyone is freaking out about ark 2 being tied to asa success. We’ve literally known this since they announced asa and then sunset the ase servers. This isn’t anything new.
@@davew4304 for the most part I agree. They could have added all this stuff to add and made a killing without having to “start from scratch” on a new engine. We all know they copied the same exact code and ported it over (instead of saying they started over from the ground up) because we have the same bugs we had in ase for years.
I don't get how people are getting 10 fps in ASA. I have a laptop with a mobile 4070, so hardly the hihgest end, and I regularly run, on a mix of medium/high settings, 50-70 fps. Are people playing on like a gtx 1070 or something 15 years old?
ark's (ase and asa)backend is horrendous. It seems certain gpu's perform far better than other gpu's at the same power level. Also due to how many different kinds of things it tries to render, every part of your pc will end up being maxed out, bottlenecking the rest of your rig. If you're not spending $250+ on a cpu, $600+ on a gpu, $100 on ram, etc, your game's performance will immedietley "snap" to the weakest part of your rig. Obviously every single game out there has this problem, but asa's issue is that graphics settings do almost nothing. I think people dont realize how bad your average pc is. Yeah in comparison to a 4080-super or ti, your mobile 4070 is mediocre. But for people who cant afford to blow 1000$ on a pc, that IS high end. According to steam charts, only (around) 65% percent of people have a pc good enough to run the 40$ funny dinosaur game with less content than the one from 7 years ago. tldr: Your setup is super good lol Sorry I just like complaining about my setup. I'll probably upgrade my 6 years out of date PC soon.
ark asa fail because majority of ark players base don't want to pay for the same game again.. We waiting for ark 2 and if they want ark asa to perform they must release it free for those who payed old ark already .. they don't want to release ark 2? well , rip studio..playerbase will go on other survival ,simple !
All i know is that if they dont start fixing all the little bugs that make the game a laughing stock, theyll never be taken seriously. Also, regular cryopods and make the grap feed babies whether its mounted or not. Theyre wasting everyones time with those two things. Making long time ark supporters haters.
How excited I was for ASA just for it to be a poorly done reskin with no true innovation. PvP is full of insufferable no lifers that you can’t possible outplay unless you spend 24 hours a day on the game. I won’t even talk about the hackers. And PvE is just the same as Ark 1 except with 40 less frames. What a shame
No once fault that people still play on old consols that can't run new game and updates and not develop fault games update like everytjing else in the world moves on simple as that same as technology stop buying the new iPhone and buy a new console simple as that
The part I find confusing is the lack of understanding of 'how the world works' by current generation gamers - and them getting all bent out of shape about just the way that the commercial and corporate worlds work. "Oh noes!! we'll never see Ark 2 if ASA fails to succeed!!!111!" But... the same holds true for **any** corporate entity. If the current F-150 Ford truck fails, The Ford Motor Company will not release a 'refresh' of that vehicle - they'll go back to the drawing board and design something with a higher likelihood of success, and/or a more fictional marketing scheme. And that there is this 'surprise' that running a 'next gen' game juuuuuust might also require next gen hardware. From a corporate perspective - I don't care about the poors. You make more money selling to rich people than poor people.

If ASA fails, I wonder if they will have enough funding to "go back to the drawing board and design something with a higher likelihood of success."
@@yeahman147 yes this is obvious, also obvious is the fact that asa is way more p2w than ase. its not like there is a clear line between p2w and not p2w, any game is technically p2w if you can pay more to have a better system to have better performance, but people dont often complain that is "p2w", its a big spectrum and asa is way higher up that spectrum than ase, its not particularly hard to understand why people call it p2w more than ase
