Check out these snakes that we saw at The 4x4 Show this year. We learnt alot listening to the snake educator.
We also traveled parts of Australia and saw dingo, a monitor on Fraser Island, water dragons, butterfly, kookaburra, cockatoos, turtles and crows.
We saw the turtles by signing up for the Turtle Encounter at Mon Repos, Bargara. Groups go down at night to watch a turtle nest hatch. The nest we watched had 58 hatchlings dig their way up and out of the sand. After the hatchings are collected and then released all together into the ocean, the ranger then digs up another nest that hatched a few days before. They count how many eggs hatched and how many didn't. In the particular nest that we saw dug up, there was one turtle still alive but buried 60cm deep in the sand, so without the ranger digging up the egg shells, this turtle wouldn't have survived. It was later released into the ocean after the remaining egg shells had been counted.
I have more footage of the dingo we saw on Fraser Island - I'll put up 3 Fraser Island 4x4ing videos this coming week which showcase K'gari / Fraser Island from land and air.
