Snake Fist Fighter is a Chansploitation movie. They took an old movie Jackie Chan had done in the 70's called THE CUB TIGER FROM KWANG TUNG, edited in scenes from DRUNKEN MASTER, and then released it to try to cash in on Jackie Chan's movie THE BIG BRAWL.
You know I don't really hate this movie. There's this German blu ray that has the original English dub and a remaster in Mandarin. Snake Fist Fighter's dub is trash compared to the original. The original dub makes the film a lot less silly (it's still silly though). I like this one better than Fearless Hyena II, that's for sure. I just need an HD remaster of Cub Tiger from Kwantung and maybe I'll get rid of this one. I love those scenes in this.
I cannot say it's the worst Kung fu movie ever. There are plenty of bad Kung fu movies like True Game of death. However this is not the best Jackie Chan movie although it's better than Jackie Chan's 1911 (Worst Jackie Chan movie rated yet). This movie is kinda like Bruce Lee's Game of death where they use double for extra scene and using a stock footage from the previous Jackie Chan movie. But the only difference is at least Game of death they tried to finish Bruce Lee's unfinished project but I don't see why they tried to release this movie again to the public since 1971 (or 1973? I don't know...). Not a terrible movie but if I gonna watch this movie I rather watch the original one "Cub Tiger from Kwangtung".
kevinhwsohn I think after Drunken Master they added the training montage to get the movie a bit more entertaining so that is definitely why they chose to put it in this trailer.
kevinhwsohn I do wish I could buy a release of this remastered. I have four copies but none remastered. I wish Dragon Dynasty would have gotten the rights to this one and would have used "Little Tiger From Canton" which I always thought was a better title than "Master With Cracked Fingers" or finger several times.
*sigh* Takes me back to when 42nd Street was "The Deuce". The good times...when pushers and prostitutes were in abundance. Now it's all Disney-fied. It sucks.
