In this video, I take a very clsoe look at the Pidzoom Finger Horns for EUCs, Onewheel, and e-scooters - the FH30, FH60, and FH90. I determine whether they are as well as it's advertised. All three are compared - and compared against a car horn. Is is snake oil? Which one is the best among the three, and what makes these different? Which one is best for Electric Unicycles?

I will fully agree on the bike bell sound to be superior. The only time you really need a horn is *on* the bike path, where you're going faster than people that are ultimately clueless to their surroundings, and the bike bell "Dinggggggg" is like a Pavlovian reaction - people will definitely move out of the way or take less space, assuming they care to do so in the first place. If they're on the bike path or pedestrian path and hear a car horn they will usually ignore it - cars go on the road, not on the bike path, so surely it's not for them! I actually have a very small bike bell on my finger when I go for rides, it's beautiful and magical to see people react to it, usually by getting the hell out of my way. :P

I love the idea of a convenient finger horn, but I have a friend who wears a rubber stand-in for wedding rings when he does active things. These rings exist because, should you get your wedding ring caught on something like a basketball hoop (or in our case the trim of a car), your finger could get ripped right off. Maybe the activation button can be attached to my wrist with an easily breakable chain, and I hold the buddon in my hand? That's the only way I'd be comfortable with as I've had to use my hands to catch an opening car door to help me stop.

i need a realworld test in downtown traffic and on bike paths that are populated. demonstrations are nice and i appreciate the great effort that went into this comparison but im not sold on any of them yet.

It doesn't matter if you're in traffic or in the quiet countryside, the sound meter doesn't lie 😀 But considering downtown traffic will naturally have a higher noise "floor", I believe the FH90 may be your best option because it is objectively as loud as (or louder than) car horns. The 60 won't cut it in traffic, and the 30 doesn't sound like a typical horn and is still a touch quieter than the 90.

I've been using a bicycle bell on my finger for 4 years now and it works perfectly People always react to it, it never runs out of batteries and it cost 2 dollars

That‘s a really helpful demonstration. Thank you so much! I really hope that there‘s an upcoming video for the charger enhancer CE200 for the Lynx. So I can use the coupon code on the two pieces when I order on Pidzoom.

My small EUC (V8S) has a horn on the app. It sounds like a big car but it is so quiet the only useful purpose is to laugh at it.

I have a claxon dangling from a belt loop, which I squeeze off manually to get people's attention. The harder I squeeze, the louder it sounds. I've found that people pay little attention to a bicycle bell, because either they don't hear it or they think it's Tinkerbell flapping about. When it sounds too much like a car or motorbike horn, they think it's something happening on the road or you scare the life out of them. Whereas a claxon is loud, as well as curious enough sounding, to get their attention. They also get a good laugh expecting Bozo the clown at their heels, plus you never have to charge it. Did I mention it's also cheap to buy?

Just a heads up. There is a Decimal app. I use Decimal X in a restaurant. 65-70 is what’s considered normal however I was in a loud restaurant once that was annoying so I wanted to measure the decimal out of curiosity. If you download the app don’t leave it running in the background it will drain the 💩out of your phone. Cool review

Thank you for putting effort into this review. IMO the manufacturers of EUCs that can reasonably be expected to be ridden on public roadways (regardless of whether or not that is legal) should be required by law to include all of the following factory-installed devices: a loud horn, a bright white strobing running light that, when the EUC is being ridden, is continuously-energized and cannot be turned off, a brake light, and user-activated turn signals. Deliberate user-activation of the turn signals should be required as opposed to tilt-activation, because tilt-activation does not indicate an intention to turn, it only indicates a (momentary) tilt. BTW, when comparing claimed decibel (dB) levels, one should be aware of the existence of multiple dB measurement scales, such as e.g. dBA, dBC, etc., and of course the exact test method used. When a manufacturer reports a sound power level without also reporting the dB measurement scale used and the test method, it creates ambiguities that set the stage for misunderstandings and decisions that would not have been made had the decider been fully informed.
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime 16 дней назад
Those are great suggestions! I wanted to discuss the logarithmic scale that decibels are based on, and why I used dbA instead of just db for accuracy, but I felt like I was unable to articulate it good enough to come across clearly with it.

I'm sure each of these have optional horn sounds. It would be interesting to know if the different sounds offer higher or lower dB readings. 🎵🔊 #SoundExperimentation #DifferentSounds

The only one among these that offers multiple sounds is the FH30. I can give it a go and report back 🙂 I believe the other sound is a buzzer and I don't think it's nearly as eardrum-piercing as the "ding" noise.

Thanks for the video. I just bought the fh60 for a very tall euc and I'm hoping to position the included wired button either in easy reach or squeezable with my thigh? Idk, time will tell.
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime 14 дней назад
Are you planning to mount it to the front handle? If you can easily reach the handle, the. I can see that working out for you. And if it doesn't, then you can just strap the wireless remote to your finger 🙂
@stickyickyrickypdx
@stickyickyrickypdx 14 дней назад
@@WheelGoodTime Likely close to the front handle. Just somewhere convenient while seated or a spot to reach for that wont compromise my balance. I mainly want to have my options open. I see that Dawn (EUC influencer) has her wireless remote attached to her wrist guards. Hell, I could go for a keychain version. There's just something about needing to remember a ring accessory when I'm putting all my other gear on.

How long does it last in standby mode before it needs to be charged? (the fh60) I have the similar type of horn from amazon (all same manufacturer like Fedog 118). Since it has an alarm which I don't arm it's always sensing for the remote. It has to be charged every 3-4 Weeks otherwise battery dies.

I'm not sure 🙂 I think the instructions say 3-4 months but I haven't given it that long personally

Thanks for your review, very interesting as ever! Concerning the horn.. I can't understand why it'd be impossible to use the beeper inside the wheel. I've a Patton, its beeper is loud, I can activate it by leaperkim app, not convenient when ridding, but could be very convenient if I can use it through a finger remote. I don't understand why I should transform my wheel in Christmas tree to add outside things that already exist inside..
@WheelGoodTime
@WheelGoodTime 17 дней назад
You have an excellent point! On my lynx, there is a and how to paired with my watch using the wheeldash app (for Garmin watches). At least on the lynx, the beeper is downward facing and although it's fairly loud to my own ears, it doesn't seem like it's particularly effective on The Greenway where I tried it. People just didn't really get out of the way. I'm guessing that's just because it's allowed to my ears but the sound doesn't travel very well forward. I think there might be this type of function potentially on the EUC world app or darknessbot for non-garmin watch users, but I am not sure.

My horn is my mouth and I just yell 'DING DING' and people move. I tried one of those fancy 145dB horns with a multitude of different sound effects and even though it's loud, people just ignored it..

Ill stick to the ringer dinger. This definitely needs an optional bike bell ring, motion sensing alarm, and volume adjustment

@@WheelGoodTime I bought the FH30 first batch and alarm didn’t work. I would turn your alarm on and shake the wheel. The bike bell is nicer for pedestrians so should be a way to switch it. No idea why volume adjust isn’t a thing.

I want mini bright indicators and a horn all on a small controller ala a car key fob. Edit: for context I off-road a lot and wear gloves unless it's real hot, so a finger trigger isn't ideal.

I have the first gen f30 and i have to say its really good i drive on the bike lanes at a maximum speed of 35km/h i also have a bike bell on my backpack to use when i dont need to use the horn (i use my horn mostly for emergency or people who dont wanna go aside) now i did learn that the v2 f30 has less latency but that doesnt bother me as much since i know about the delay and i can anticipate it.
