I hope you like swearing because this could easily be the most frustrating game out there. I couldn't beat this as a kid and decided to try again. The jumping mechanics combined with the physics of the ground you jump from require so much precision that you literally may have to jump and press the d-pad in every direction in the air and as you land. It's a crazy game especially on the ice levels nine and ten. Ultimately you can get good enough at this game to make it through level 8 consistently enough, perhaps even deathless. The real challenge is those last two ice levels and acquiring enough practice to become good at them and understanding how to beat the final boss. I must admit I think I took the toughest path, the quickest path, in order to beat this game. There is a warp to level eight, it even demos the trick if you leave your controller alone after a reset, if I remember correctly. This warp skips everything and sends you to a somewhat easy and arbitrary level eight before the last two stages. While this is fastest it forgoes any extra life accumulation throughout the other stages and even skips two "credit continues" that give you a whole new set of lives. I think they are the credit continues, they are the very large snake heads that produce a unique sound upon procuring them. I think there's one on levels three and seven, and they are clutch. Generally speaking the hardest part is the final climb which I had a lot of trouble with. It's super hard, but if you can touch the platform above and then die you will re-spawn there making it easier to jump to the next height. Try to use this death abuse to get to the top. This is where you'll need all of the extra lives and continues you accumulated. The final boss just requires some good button mashing and decent steering. If you can manage this I'd bet you'll beat this game with plenty of lives remaining. I recommend playing this game 100% to get those extra lives, even if it takes a little longer, it's much less stress.
