Getting a new baby snake? Whether it's you first pet snake, or you have been keeping reptiles for years, this video has a few points you need to know about setting up it's first enclosure for the best possible success.

This is what I do before each snake. Never a mite issue. I get deli cups & add a river rock so they don’t dump it. People always want “fancy”. I really want health!

Love that Packaging 100% , one day I see myself opening one of those SD beauties from ROR , after I am done building my specific collection 1st . Or soon they can buy a cage from me cause mine are solid like vision cages on steroids built to suit and 100% plastic and awesome , all my babies are happy AF . Just a tip with the news paper ...my local paper co. Will give u any left over papers from the day before (they always have extra) and they can't sell an old paper so most of the time they will give them to u for free.

Awesome video Garrett. I'm anti paper towel substrate myself for those exact reasons. Paper for quarantine and cypress for everyone else works for me. I use pricey reptile spray so I'm also curious about your mixture for mite prevention spray. Thanks.

Just got a boa like 4 months ago and I’m already considering getting a Het anery Super Dwarf retic at the end of the year for £190(England) I’m not sure what locality it is but it’s coming from a reputable reptile store so I’m sure I can trust them on if it’s super dwarf or not.

Often times stores get them from breeders, and re-sell. Be sure to ask as much about the background info as possible, ESPECIALLY if you intend to breed.

Glad you pointed out the paper towel thing. I'm going away from it for my bearded dragon because I have had to pull paper towel out of his mouth before he could swallow it while I was feeding him bugs. He did just as you said and accidentally got a corner of the paper along with his roach.

this video is extremely helpful, it''s be my go-to for any new snake! I was at the steel city expo today and was blown away by the quality of your snakes! I really wanted one but I had a $100 limit haha! I've used paper towels with my bearded dragons, never with snakes, and I don't think the work well with any lizard either! They can tear a piece when eating insects and one of mine got bored the other day and decided to rip up the paper towel! Thanks for all the help, I'm glad to know I have a great local snake source!

Thank you so much, always used paper towels never knew how dangerous it could be😲, love your hides they are so cute and inexpensive winner winner tofu dinner😉, and agree setting up an animal is just that you do what the animal need in the end you have a happy healthy new friend which bets any decor or flashy trash you can set up. That's why I had a problem with Beta fish I hate seeing people treat them like knick knacks. Great tip thank you ever so much for sharing and best...Also that babe you used for an example was adorable 😍😍😍

I recently ordered some tub liners recently, not because paper towels tare, never thought of that. I went to liners, just recently, like came in yesterday lol, because the snakes just push the paper towel into the center lol moves too easy.

Excellent advice Mr. G !! :o) I've always kept my snakes on newspapers because it greatly reduces the risk soiled wet substrate that can lead to scale rot !! Another issue with paper towels is people need to consider their purpose is to absorb moisture thus in a snake enclosure they suck up the humidity so definitely no on the paper towels !! I've always kept all of my enclosures simple and clean because I like to be able to visibly see everything going on around it in it's enclosure. Expensive and fancy is cool but it's not advantageous to keeping healthy snakes !!

Good points! My dream caging would be a combination of the 2, but never at the expense of the animals.

I absolutely agree !! Sure expensive and fancy is of no concern to the snakes but rather those enclosures are set up for their appearance more than for good clean conditions inside the snakes enclosures and gosh it's hard to see everything going on in an enclosure with a big clutter of rocks and plants, etc. :(
