Hey Birm, i don't know if you read the comments, but i wanted to remark on something you said in one of the podcasts this week. I'm paraphrasing, but you pointed out that when you watch Georgia's defense, they look like they play more "violent". I'm sitting here watching OU Tenn, and even though the Sooners are losing, I'm watching their lineblackers fly downhill and collide with Tenn runners with violent impact. Same for Tennessee's defense. By contrast, our supposed "athletic freaks" that play linebacker seem to shuffle tentatively, laterally, and when they do make the tackle they get dragged for a couple yards. I just do not see any violence or feel the impact on a regular basis. Ransom is the only player that pops on a regular basis in terms of downhill, violent hits. Bill and Austin kinda blew you off when you pointed that out, but i have definitely noticed it too, and not just with Georgia. Anyways, love the content guys, keep it up!

I'm no expert but i think we need to close the splits on the defensive line. Our edge rushers JTT and Jack are power rushers not speed rushers. There's no need to run a wide 9 or whatever we were doing out there! Tighen up the DLine and let them play with power.

Jim didn’t blitz at all. Marshall had a great quick pass game plan to defeat the rush. Linebackers weren’t disciplined enough today but they’ll fit.

I don’t know what kind of scheme Knowles was running but it was not effective. Allowing easy runs up the middle and letting the QB run all over us is not going to do against TTUN. Need to rewatch the game but it seemed that our linebackers were never filling the run gaps.

The defensive line hasn’t been relevant since Chase Young left. Larry Johnson plays the same front on every play. His lines doesn’t stunt, twist or god forbid, do a spin move. The middle of the line was open all game for the QB. Larry Johnson doesn’t think sacks is that important of a stat. Anytime you get a tackle for a loss is a big deal! Larry needs to retire.

Julian sayin needs to be getting second team reps and Devin brown needs to figure out what he wants to do with his career because qb ain’t it. I wanted him to be really good but I don’t think it will happen.

Zero pass rush. Zero. It's Marshall. Embarrassing. And playing Devin over Sayin makes no sense to me. Devin isn't gonna start here this year or next.

Special teams still suspect. No pass rush is alarming and not a good sign. Still not seeing the deep ball from Howard but his short to midrange is really good so we will just have to roll with it. Running game is great, receivers are great. Linebacker play is meh, D need to see more juice!

The offensive skill were great. The D line was booty. Straight booty. Tyleik out shouldn't effect that much and is not a good excuse. LBs were bad too.

I think there has been a disconnect between LJ and Knowles ever since Jim was hired. Larry is too stubborn to change his style of play and is a reason the Jack position is just a myth. As a result, the OSU d-line plays the same front with no changes or innovation. The opposing OLine knows what’s coming and even less talent can win knowing it’s the same routine every play.

How can I watch football all day on Saturday and never, I mean EVER! see a kicker kick it out of bounds on the kick off. Yet OSU does it three times in a row.

Ryan day didn't use profanity right before the penalty so I'm not sure what that was about. you could see it clearly on the broadcast

I am not going to read too much into this defensive performance, they played extremely conservative all game and Marshall did a really good job of spreading them out to create run gaps. There was several times I felt OSU just allowed Marshall to have a numbers advantage running because they were trying to just keep everything in front of them knowing Marshall couldn't execute consistently enough to really make it a game. I believe OSU could have been much more aggressive if they wanted. Marshall did what any overmatched team tries to do, get the ball out as fast as possible to neutralize the rush and try to burn clock to limit OSU's posessions, the first half time of possession proves that well enough. On to the positives, a large part of that ToP difference was because OSU was hitting so many explosive plays scoring in under a minute or two. This rushing attack may be the best 2 headed mosnter I have seen at OSU since Braxton and Hyde in 2013, they were averaging well over 10 yards per carry for most of the game. Also I know most buckeye fans are over Joel Klatt these days but I appreciated him trying to shut down the narrative that we just paid for a super team to win it all. He was very complimentary of the culture and development in Days program and gave it a lot of credit for why so many veteran players came back.

I Agree totally on the music over the loudspeakers. I'm an old timer, '76 Archie's class. We didn't have that stuff. We had the best damn band in the land, and still do! Leave the music to them. Trash the loudspeaker music system!

I don’t think it was all bad today. Do we all want 70-0 wins? Sure, but that’s not realistic. The offense looks like the real deal. The o-line is playing very well and we just need the d line to match that. Williams being out was a much bigger deal than people want to believe. Titles are won in the trenches and I believe they will continue to improve. It was frustrating at times, sure, but this team has all of the ingredients to win the Big Ten and win a national title. Don’t believe everything the you hear in sports media. Ohio State isn’t the only team with a few issues to correct. The media wants you to believe teams like Georgia, Texas, Michigan, etc are flawless but that’s simply not true. Go Bucks!

Every year the fanbase says the coaching staff is holding stuff back. Didn't we lose 3 years in a row to TCUN? Coach the freaking games that's on your schedule. Our defensive was terrible this game. Terrible. Knowles is getting paid 2m a year. You don't get to take games off.

Dude the kicker had me fuming. And I'm someone who enjoys and respect the art of kicking but the dude did it 3 consecutive times in a row in the same exact spot.

I would like someone to please ask Day how confident does he feel that his kicker could hit a 45 plus yard feildgoal to tie or win a game if it came down to it.

Is there things to complain about? Yes… always… but we’re complaining from an 35 point win…. We ran the ball for 9 ypc and threw for 11.1 ypp…. Our defense didn’t play the solidified lineup and were mixing and matching. 132 yards of the 139 yards passing Marshall did was in the first half and the entire offense was held under 50 total yards and they were under 40% on third down. You really can only gripe about the first half which they adjusted and fixed within the personnel, the special teams and the 5 penalties which were just silly penalties that need cleaned up. A lot to improve upon in those areas but not “the sky is falling” and still great compared to many other teams in the country with closer calls and losses to Mac schools. This will be fine. Seems like the biggest fix needs to be the bye week routine. We always come out flat after a bye.

Birm, Fryar was the cause of the sack and the tackle for loss. It's a shame we don't have someone better than him to play RT

Let’s be honest: If rare Penalty on fumbled Punt not called and Marshall Starting QB not hurt on non-contact injury - OSU Defense would have given up 30 points, think about that….

An interception is one thing, but Howard seems to still underthrow the deep(er) balls. He should be leading JS, letting him run under the ball. Instead he seems to have difficulties with the balls over 20 yards downfield.

I am glad we won today but am frustrated with the way that we played against MARSHALL...lol We better get it together before we play the better teams on our schedule or it might NOT turn out well and sayin is officially qb 2 after today like I have been thinking & saying after hearing how day talked about and was praising him during fall camp...I really liked devin too but he has had several chances to show that he should be the starter and it hasn't worked out and now I don't think he is gonna get his chance here so I just wish him the best wherever he ends up at.

Ryan Days Philosophies are questionable…. Not that the team looks bad. But the constant bad play of the LBs and defensive line I believe are because of “less physical” “no tackling” practices. Again, I think this is a national Title team some things just seem to be repetitive under Day

Fox, announcer were bagging on the officials taking forever too. Also Gus and Klatt were pretty bad today. They started talking about old players and didnt even announce what happened on some plays.

I am very disappointed in our D ! Not just a little either. Too many 1st downs - too many third and shorts !!! Not just today either (!) but all 3 games. Can't believe this is supposed to be anywhere near the best D in the nation ?!? --- Not so far - I don't see it.

The DL got dominated at LOS (by Marshall) with zero pressure on QB, LB’s couldn’t stop QB/RB runs, and DB’s beat repeatedly in Coverage…other than that this OVERRATED DEFENSE looked great

Starting DE's have literally never impressed me from a pass rudh standpoint. Nor did the ones before them. IDL Still are average at best. Larry Johnson man, smh. Jayden Fielding & Will Howard have always felt a bit shaky in their execution. Will is always a bit too frenetic with his energy which I think keeps him from maintaining good mechanics & throws off his acccuracy/ball placement. Idk why people keep dogging Devin he is a clearly better pure passer. Not that I'm saying he should start but there may some games where he is a better option when you have to pass. Fielding has just always been shaky with his kicks.

This defense is awful and it’s time for Knowles to be fired or maybe Ryan Day. They aren’t a culture fit for this program
