I have about 15 different 1/4 snap on ratchets in chrome, soft grip, hard handle. I just picked up the 1/4 soft handle multi position this morning. I Already have it in 3/8 soft grip so it just made sense to have it. Except I’ve only used 1/4 drive a handful of times in the last 6 months, LOL. I picked up my 3/8 multi position new on eBay for about 50 dollars less than on the truck.
eBay is the best, I find all kinda good snap on deals. Also lots of hard to come by hard handle ratchets since they are getting rare now in general, especially all the good colors and paired with a quick release head, prices are high on those
Just a thought, how about throwing the ratchet in the freezer to shrink it up a bit before putting it in the warmed hard handle. You might even be able to keep the hole in the hard plastic a size down smaller allowing for an even tighter fit once it’s been installed and they both come to room temp
Freezer works great! I did it on a wheel bearing…….freeze them for a few hours to replace an old bearing on my parents washing machine drum….drop nice in position.
Recommendations for glue? I did the sdd5r1r on my 3/8 and it was tight going on but now it's got a slight wiggle and I can actually pull it off by hand with some force. Center hole is advertised as 1/4, and I cleaned up the burrs with a 1/4, did not go any bigger.
If it was tight going on then there is no way it should be that easy to pull off. If you have to use glue, I’d use gorilla super glue but personally me……save that handle for A bigger ratchet and buy another hard handle
On mine the locking tabs are on the bottom and the shaft is a bit smaller there. I'm thinking I should've used a much smaller drill bit when deepening the handle hole. Not enough of the tab is grabbing to lock it on. I'll give some gorilla glue a shot. If not, you can't learn from mistakes you don't make. I'll just try it again. Keep up the good work, your mod makes the ratchets feel much nicer in the hand with the bigger handles.
