For everyone that thinks I am just bashing on Snap On that is not the case here. Just a few tools that I think are not any good. They have a bunch of excellent tools here’s my top 10 list ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nwd75-zmFTg.html

I thi k snapon could do a few inexpensive things to improve thier products to make them over the top. Like adding the quick release nut on the cordless grinder geeez or a better aH battery or making thier batters water resistant.

I bought that exact 1/2" drive coardless impact about 5 or 6 years ago and it worked great for what I was doing (changing tires) but when I needed to take off an axle nut on my personal car at home it wouldent wvwn budge it. And as far as the 1,000 cycles for warranty its 1,000 charges on the batteries. If you hold down on the button to indicate the charge it will start flashing at the different bars to tell you how many times that battery has been charged. I forget what each bar references for charge amounts tho. But I recently bought the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2" friction ring, high torque one key and it's a beast. It weighs a little bit more but it has the power to back it up 100%

I’m a flat rate tech at a Honda dealership. A real busy one at that. I started recommending headlight polishes for a half hour when the guy on my team next to me bought a snap on polisher. It used to get hot as hades in my hand. Was always scared it would burn up when I was holding it so I bought the Milwaukee kit with two batts and a charger for 170 shipped. Has adapters for polishing and a 2” adapter for rol loc cookie wheels and such. Things a monster. And it has a handle that’s removeable and can go on the right or left and a button for a tool-less change between the two apadters. I would highly recommend it to y’all!

Hey Clay. I agree with you on this video. We pay good money for Snapon but if it’s not living up to expectations it should be called out. The 14 volt tools are nice and handy but if they keep breaking down then Snapon should look into it and make adjustments or credits. I purchased the 1/2” impact and not too impressed with it. Excellent video.

You are exactly right. They should fix known issues. Car companies have and we use these tools to fix cars so Snap On should have to fix these issues also. We depend on tools to put food on our tables and a roof over our heads.

I’m a big fan of Snap On Tools as well but after having owned many of their tools have found they really don’t hold up any better than some of their lesser expensive competitors say like GearWrench tools in my opinion is the Best Bang for your Buck and they offer a pretty good tool selection too. With that being said I’m not going to get rid of any of my Snap On Tools keeping what I have but I doubt I will ever spend several thousand Dollars again to buy them like I did the first time. I guess the prestige of owning Snap On Tools make a good conversation with the guys at work.

Another good video by Mr. Koon. I almost always buy Snap-On tools because I am risk averse and haven't had negative experiences beyond cost. Luckily I use hand tools instead of power tools so I didn't make the mistake of buying items #4 through #2. I don't buy expensive disposable items like Snap-On drill bits so have never considered buying item #5. I have had two sizes of vise grips, the tool of last resort, for at least 30 years so I never bought item #1.

I definitely agree with all of these for me personally I won't buy any of the snap on cordless stuff I think its way to overpriced and much lower quality than most if not all of the cheaper competitors out there, if your looking for another solid starter button I would reccomend the OTC one the last one I had lasted forever and I just now bought a new one, also on tool truck drill bits mac will warranty theirs if they are broken so that's basically an endless supply of cobalt drill bits if you buy their set which I think is like 300 to 450 bucks a set depending on which one you get

Very helpful, KT. Given what's available from the competition, Snap-On is simply no longer cost effective. From your demonstrations, I would suspect Chinese manufacturing. Many companies are living on their reputations earned in the past that are no longer deserved. Door to door hustling made Snap-On a name in the past. Given efficient delivery, people don't need to shop like that any more. Professional evaluations like this are very valuable for consumers to avoid making selections they might have based on name alone. In addition, I learned of the Irwin wrench here. Thanks.

Ended up buying all Milwaukee M18 Brushless 1/2 a 3/8 mid Torq and 1/4 nut driver, M12 Fuel angle die grinder and drill. So 5 tools for the cost of 1 Snap On 1/2” electric impact. The problem I'm having is just about all my tools and master Tool Boxes are Snap on. when they get older Snap on no longer has parts or the repair center states they no longer repair those tools. In 2009 I purchased a XT1700 Air impact wrench. Just 2 weeks ago I went to use this and no air pressure. I've always oil my air tools. I also have a 25 year old IR that needed repairs and I had it repaired in 1 week. Tried the same with my Snap on and was told it was discontinued by Snap on. I kept my receipt and faxed it with all the information and Snap on text me back and said they no longer repair this model. I found a local Snap on truck and he said he could give me a $100 off a new Gun. HE also said he traded in 20 to 30 of my type because no parts are available. He agreed and said a lot of snap on electrical and air tools when the get old no parts are available. That same day I order a Astro THOR. At least I can get this repaired!! LOL

When I started out as a boat mechanic, I fell for the Snap-on truck and bought a $550 semi-composite impact wrench. It was nice...about 10 years down the road it just flat out died and wouldn't spin. So, I went online and found repair parts through some 3rd party websites. Well, low and behold...the parts arrived, and they were all in Ingersoll Rand parts bags. I felt sick to my stomach, so I went online looking for IR semi-composite impact wrenches. There she was, for $200 cheaper. Same with my Snap-on amp-clamp, it's made by TPI, for $100 cheaper.

Good film and advice, Mr. Clay. If you need disposable tools go to Harbor Freight, especially for their hand tools. You can walk in there with your head held high knowing the locking pliers have a lifetime warranty with no questions asked when they break and you need another pair. Same for the drill bits, I’m not sure about the lifetime warranty on those. I bought the Actron remote starter switch from NAPA, $17.00. Yeah, it’s made in China. I reckon Snap-on’s is too, I don’t know. I looked at the Pittsburgh Automotive remote starter switch at HF and thought, “Naw”. I know Actron makes decent stuff.

The 1,000 cycles is the battery warranty, 1,000 charge cycles. If you press and hold the button for a bit, it flashes a counter. Those polishers are GARBAGE. Every detailer we've had that's bought it burned it up fast. One guy's actually made it out of warranty, so he spent another $100 to get it repaired, and it burned up in a few minutes.

I bought my 18 volt snap on impact a few years ago and was $200 cheaper than what you show the kit being on line. I use it Day in and day out and is a great impact for automotive use. I do feel the replacement batteries are over priced but there’s less than $5 difference between the snap on 18 volt battery and the Milwaukee 18 volt battery so I can’t knock snap on too bad for that since the tool it is competing with is in the same price range.

Only had one SnapOn purchase i regretted. A green racheting screwdriver with bit holder in handle. The bit holder top constantly fell off and the bits were lost. The screwdriver functioned properly but it didn't feel right in hand or pocket. Collecting dust somewhere in tool box.

Cordless :Buy your favourite cordless brand it will probably be better and cheaper. The vice grip is usually a rebranded Irvin . Drills :Best bought from a drill manufacture and if they chip the edges it generally means they high in cobalt content not ideal if used with a hand drill . Snapon have to many outsourced tools so you might as well have a mixture of different manufactures .

Drill bits are straight trash and waste of money I can agree and on the locking pliers everything on this is correct. In MY OPINION the monster impact works great I’ve had mine for 3 going on 4 years works great only 1 thing one of the batteries doesn’t want to charge anymore and the polisher I use to buff head lights I think it works fantastic and had that for about 2 years now and no problems with it.

Save your money and buy a pneumatic adapter or Milwaukee. If you watch the video (I put a card at the top when the polisher first comes on, then when you click the video it’s around 4:20 mark on it, there’s a comment pinned with the time stamp and you can see the polisher in use and hear where that was #3 I burnt up and also see the footage. I was shooting a video when it happened)

The 1000 cycles warranty refers to total charge cycles. There is a way ur 18v batt can read how many times its been charged and display it. I think if you hold the batt level indicator button down the lights flash each figure its been charged.

When it comes to locking pliers. Its Irwin or nothing. Always. Everything else is junk. I've learned that over time. In term with the 1/2 cordless kit, its $800 dollars where you can get a milwaulee 1/2 and 3/8 kit for just over 900 dollars. Two better way better guns, charger and two batteries. If youre going to shell out the money on a cordless impact kit. Thats the one to get.

..I have to disagree about the Chinese-made Irwins..the old USA made Vise-Grip were best in their day, no question..the new China-made Irwin Vise-Grips are too soft jaws, the Milwaukee locking pliers and some others are better..BUT..if you want the absolute BEST locking pliers, buy the new Malco Eagle Grips..made in USA in the old Vise-Grip factory in Dewitt, Nebraska..they are also the new supplier for Snap-On, as well (the locking pliers in the review are the Spain-made Grip-On's made for Snap-On..not the same as the new Malco USA made ones)...the Malco pliers are pricey, but the fit and finish is excellent, and tolerances are tight, and are made of top-quality metal...Check them out...

Just like you I am also a big fan of Snap On. Snap on is the best tool company in existence Period. But like you I am not afraid to admit that some of their tools are better from other companies. Example: Knipex and Klein will both easily kick Snap On's ass when it comes to any type of plier tool. I noticed a similar theme in this video, power tools. As much as I love Snap On, I have never purchased any of Snap On's power tools simply because I have NEVER seen anything from Snap On's power tool line that ever convinced me that they were any better than Milwaukee and Bosch. In fact I can make a very strong valid argument that Milwaukee and Bosch are not just better and cheaper. But they actually are a lot better than Snap On and they actually have better warranties P.S. For the best Drill Bits look at a brand called "Cle-Line" (made in U.S.A.) Usually sold at Electrical and Pluming supply stores. Sometimes Lowe's will carry Cle-Line. those are professional drill bits used by building contractors for drilling into steel. And they are the absolute best. If you can find them at Lowe's like I did, you can usually get them for around $59

With any tool brand you have lemons. Different tool companies specialize in different things. IMHO Snap on has the best hand tools hands down minus those locking pliers. I agree with that assessment. I also agree about the impact 1/2" drive cordless wrench. If you want a great impact wrench go Milwaukee. I work in manufacturing and on the side I do blacksmithing and agricultural welding and fabrication. In blacksmithing and agricultural fab you turn wrenches more often than not. In any trade you have to take tool selection seriously and be selective on what you use. One thing you can't afford to cheap out on are your tools. Some things you can get by purchasing at Horrible Freight, Lowe's or Home Depot even Amazon. Buyer be aware of Amazon, if you buy Snap-On or Jh Williams through Amazon Snap-On will Not honor their warranty. Purchase your truck tool brands from their website or find a tool truck franchise near you. Be selective, do your homework and read reviews if you are not sure what to purchase or just starting out.

You are 100% right. Of all the Snap On tools I have I these are only 5 that I think are bad and that’s is really impressive when you look at all of the tools I own most are Snap On. I don’t own the 18 volt impact but I used it and wasn’t impressed. I think nobody can touch Snap On tools (hand tools especially they are awesome, they hold up well, work well, feel good in your hand) but every company has some tools that miss the mark. It happens. Snap On as a company is a great company.

Seth Iparraguirre I’ve never had any issues with my 1/2 inch impact and I’ve had it for almost 3 years now. I did find out out that if you leave them a terrible review on one of their products directly on their website they tend to do about whatever they can to make up for it lol

@@WrecklessEnterainment I'm glad your still holds up. There was 3 other guys I worked with who had them and they work great for a long time they still have them and they got them a few years ago. That's why it makes me sad mine failed lol. I've been in contact with them and they want me to pay to have my tool fixed. when they ask me how I broke it I told them I was removing 33 mm lug nuts and then they said that they couldn't warranty it for free because the half inch impact torque rating is only for a 5/8 coarse thread grade 8 bolt and not four lug nuts torque down to 475ft. and it's not that the tool is broke just nothing happens when you pull the trigger

I work at "Direct Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram" Dealership here in Wytheville, Virginia. The only power tools by Snap On that I ever see anyone using in our shop is the Snap On power ratchet. For all other power tools, I see Everyone in our shop using Milwaukee or DeWALT for everything else. I have even heard our Snap On rep admit that Milwaukee is crushing everyone in the power tool game right now. Multiple times I've heard him complain that he wishes Snap On would revamp their entire power tool line or they'll just going to keep losing business to Home Depot if they don't.
