My problem was you were using a gaming phone for the 888 which has lot better thermals than any other device there. But a very good comparison and deserves a thumbs up.
Respect for Asus for making a cooling solution that can keep the SD888 running close to max performance. Every other phone with the 888 just boils itself to a standstill.
Yeah this was unfair because the ROG phone is unique and has the best cooling system of any phone out there. But if they had used any other phone with a SD 888 it would have been worse than the 870.
2 years passed and this video is still relevant. Some new devices still get relatively old chips for lower prices for different target buyers. Not all new devices are marketed for gaming, cheaper phones even in 2023 still get something like Snapdragon 450. I too normally don't game on mobiles as I prefer console. But just early this year 2023 I purchased a mid-range tablet for general uses, social media + entertainment + basic works. I'm happy it gets a lower-end flagship chip; Snapdragon 860. So started trying to play games with this tablet and it's more fun than I thought, really not bad at all. If you don't care much about brand, you can get a device with the newest most powerful flagship chip 2 years after its first release for much lower price - 50% or even cheaper. Free market is good, competition is good for us consumers. One thing to consider though, it's not only about "power". The "ecosystem" for the device is important too, Apple and Samsung still dominate in this regard.
@Golden Reviewer, this is useful! thanks! I wonder if can do the test with multiple 888 phones. rog5 is a game phone with decent efficacy but some other company's 888 product may show very different results.
I wish the 888 device wasn't a gaming phone to keep it fair. But obviously it's the only device you have so we can't complain. Thank you for the great content!
@@GoldenReviewer I'm not sure i got what you mean? Bas like best? If so I don't agree Samsung cooling is subpar at best. I wish you used it instead of rog5. Maybe we could see a comparison between them two? S21 ultra vs rog5
you really cant use the stability as any reference across models.. as it is so phone depended. Take Mighty gadgets test of the SoC. they saw RealMe GT fall 52% in the same 3D mark WL stress test. and only 52% stability on SD888 and from 5850 to 3234 score and RealMe GT master explorer with SD870 they saw 99.2% stability and miles ahead on sustaining its performance with a score from 4256 to 4220. so its down to the phone's build and cooling quality. so it likely the most saying if you somewhat keep it in the same brand to have as few variables present if you wanna conclude anything in regards to throttling
This kind of sustained antutu benchmark score tests is rare... Very few RU-vidrs does this.... For this, I will subscribe and I hope you always make this kind of test videos in your channel in the coming years to come. Thank you!
Guys, just letting you know. SD860 is basically just a rebranded SD855+. Basically same prime core clock at 2.96GHz and same GPU clock at 700MHz. But it is way cheaper tho. Idk about other phone using this SoC but Poco X3 Pro is like 1/3 of the price of phones with SD855+. Same case with SD870,rebranded SD865+
@@douglasbarr2636 it's mostly because the temperature problem. If you attach the phone with smt like funcooler the phone with better chipset will always win.
865 is just perfect compared to its price and performance It's got a good stability and good performance it will still run every game on maximum graphics and won't drop
@@MariusVerbavicius definitely needed,u can Charge and Listen music at same time and can borrow anyone's headphones when outside without even bothering about the adapter, Neither apple nor samsung will give u any adapter,Oh u are not even Getting the charger 🤣🤣.
@@ravinderrs2552 why i would need wire at all? I got bose bluetooth noise cancelling buds. No wires :) more comfort, super quality sound. With AUX 3.5mm sound was really dependent on internal amp. If phone got shit amp, it lacked good sounding. Even if you have adapter connected to headphones, it would be always connected, because it would be always needed, so charging is not a problem then with an adapter. I do not see point charging and having headphones plugged in also. It is too much wires, really uncomfortable
If you are reading my comment Then I don't say your work is Bad But it's a Little unfair to the chips To be In different brand devices... Maybe you could have Found Devices from atleast same Brand and Android version to make The Test more Fair Between chips Anyway nice work... I like your content ❤️
Thank you so much for making comparison videos!! I'm delighted to learn of SD870 devices being extremely capable of gaming even on 400USD-ish price tag! Both F3 or K40 looks great for the hardware & price
Poco X3 pro uses very cheap components which now resulted in many dead motherboard,sh*ty display and miui is a cherry on top for as it's one of the worst os ever.
Golden Reviewer is the best reviewer around for several reasons. He actually provides truthful results, solid comparisons with games that matter and keeps his phones in optimal conditions for testing the effective performance in equal grounds. He needs far more recognition than this.
It'd be interesting to see this test done between the K40 and K40 Pro to see how the 888 and 870 compare under the same cooling conditions. Edit: I don't expect it to be done by you, I realize you already spend thousands on phones already, that'd be asking way too much lol.
I bought the X3 NFC (upgrade from a 4yr old SD430) back in November knowing 2021 will surely have great smartphones with a lower price. Excited to upgrade in 2022/2023.
Any chance that you'll test out either Oneplus 9's? It's a given that the snapdragon 888 will perform the best in a gaming phone, but I was wondering if some "regular" phones do better than others by design.
@@szewei85 idk about that, but the thing that I'm certain is that phone's standard is going to rise in terms of performance, for example, back then PUBG mobile is the most demanding mobile game but now, even a 100$ phone can play it at high frame rate without battery issues, this will go the same with Genshin Impact as well
One question my friend...how well do you think Note 20 Ultra performs for LoL Wild Rift as it might be on 120Hz soon. And how realistically we should rely on these benchmark results? I know they are for an idea but in real time action, devices do perform better right? You're my expert guide so i wanted to ask you. Love your videos keep up the awesome work!!! ❤
@@GoldenReviewer Thats true higher scores mean better performance. But what do you think would Note 20 ultra be a good choice over S21? Or Fold 3? My main concern is Gaming and MST for Samsung Pay :( and the fact Note 21 or whatever is pushed to next year. Was wondering how has your experience been with Note 20 ultra? Do you feel smooth gameplays mostly. I don't want 120 fps hehehe but anywhere around 60 fps in real time should be the goal if paying that much right? Really appreciate your prompt response dear bro! ^^
The comparison of smartphones has been very interesting.... good job By the way what is your opinion about iPhone 11? The other question about the tests it has shown us where it would be positioned on Iphone 11? many thanks
It's hard to know if this is a test of cooling or the chipset itself. I've been looking at an sd870 phone and with similar cooling it should throttle less than the sd888. How different is the cooling solution between the 865 and 870?
This is good comparison of how technology advances over just few years. Can you do all the latest SD 888 comparison to see which one can best handle this particular scorching procie ?
@@999_FREAK lol, that's true. why did HUAWEI with the same Mali can make a strong competitors as Kirin 980/990 to SD855+/865 and shiтsung couldn't? will never get tired to repeat, but those who buy shiтsung garbagxy phones are complete losers🤷🏻♂️
S21 ULTRA 2100 chip is so trash, idk why no one is talking about heat problem when gaming, and to compare im playing the same game on my old device with SD 865 and no heat problem
@@nrnayem5028 I personally don't agree with that. All phones are the same when you play games in high graphics no matter what you'll face heat issues. Even in red nubia has heat issues although it has built in cooling system.
@@VARJAGAMINGENTERTAINMENT well yes but 888 heats more....and and that guy also said that exy 2100 heats up while gaming what r u gonna say about that...sd 855 and 865 was one of the best processor in my opinion
@@nrnayem5028 that's because his playing in a aircond room. Try to play outside when it's hot especially in the afternoon and you'll see the difference. 😉
It might not be solely based on the chip some devices have better cooling and other factors which affect the test. For example 2 Snapdragon 888 phones the S21 Ultra and Rog Phone 5 Ultimate scored a good deal different about 10%.
Very interesting. I guess it's a bit tricky to truly say how much part the case plays in throttling tho. I'm looking at buying a phone for emulation on the go so this is very handy thank you.
When you get oneplus 9 pro. Please do sustained performance for it too. And if in your sustained performance testing you could include cpu throttling test (app on google play) that would be great 👌👌👍👍 Good work btw👌👌
I'm totally not kidding when I say your are the best mobile hardware performance reviewer in the world. U bring the PC hardware review style to mobile. Most are crappy. You did a solid job. I don't think I can give you enough praise. Your videeo help my decision in buying my next phone. Thank you so much and keep doing what you do. I hope you become big success n an authority in mobile hardware review because the others need to follow your mould. Nobody else is close to being able to produce the results your produce. You are at least one league higher than the other reviewer out there in the area of hardware performance. Just like Genshin Impact is one league higher in game quality Vs vast majority of mobile games out there.
