all depends on current and depth bro, in the shallows you can stray line with no lead just fine

With a bait that size , i dont think you have to finger the line for lite taps. With a bait that size its more like , make sure the drag is tite and hold on to the rod with both hands ! Hang the f on cause your going for a ride. I didnt see any light taps going on. Light taps is fishing for bait.
