Guys I’m white and from Jacksonville Florida. These two need to have a podcast and just comment on current events. It would would go to number 1. You can tell tell Tom enjoys his company.
That's a good idea. It'd be hilarious to watch them get comfy & roast each other. Plenty would watch for entertainment, but it might help show these young ppl how easy it is to get along & be respectful towards ppl from different backgrounds--even if you strongly disagree with them, you can still hold a conversation.
You say unschooled but for someone who either doesn't have internet or limited internet he is pretty articulate with things and is fairly knowledgeable.
Tom is apparently more educated than you think he is. During this video he spoke of medical tools, special police force and plus his language skills are indicating there is more to him then what you think.

The interviewer went out to find "the most racist towns in America", but he didn't go into a BLK, Hispanic, or Asian community to talk about their racial biases🤔Why not? Is he under the illusion that "white ppl can't be discriminated against", "reverse-racism" doesn't exist, or that "white ppl are the MOST racist" group in America??? Have you seen the countless viral clips of ppl interviewing black students & asking if it's "okay" to be white(many say NO, as a knee jerk reaction to the question)--that is extremely racist & many are actively discriminating against white ppl by supporting segregated spaces. This white guy just made a bunch of racist jokes based on stereotypes that we've heard from comedians for decades, while showing no signs of animosity. He's been more respectful towards a person he claims to hate, than most of these young ppl show to peers that they claim to agree with or their own family?!?

I was born and raised in the south. Here’s the difference, in the south if people are prejudice about anything- culture, religion, ethnic ideals- whatever they don’t hide it. They let you know up front. Up north it’s quiet- they do it when you leave the room. Most racist place I ever visited was a northern port city- super liberal. I was shocked
its literally the exact opposite... People up north are direct and will lyk. People in the south are people pleaswrs and love to sugar coat. Also, not everywhere up north is liberal and not everywhere down south is conservative

What's funny is i was born in California. There is so much racism in California. Now i live in Arkansas, and you can't find it. You have to look hard to find it.

When I lived in Atlanta, I ran with a crew of black guys... I was their token. They liked to give me crap about being white. I got invited to every cookout, and we had a blast.

@ryan For me, the worst I saw was in Boston and Philly. Like Bill Burr's joke that you know someone's going to say something racist when they look over their shoulder to see who's listening.. only places I've run into people who say racist things among strangers (after doing that look-over-the-shoulder) were Boston and Philly. I also ran into a couple guys who talked like that in Vermont, but to a lesser degree.
There's a Libertarian RU-vidr who said, in college, he heard the racism come from the Democrats when no one was around. Some of it was racism of low expectations.

To be honest with you, I think that allot of people want to label white people as racist when they are not really racist. This guy is a good example. He obviously doesn't hate the guy doing the video for if he did, he wouldn't have gone alone with this. However, what he and many mainly older whites don't like is the black culture, not black people itself. They don't like the loud offensive music, they don't like the violence, they don't like the disrespect towards others and other things that differ from the lifestyle of older whites. The modern black culture is burdened by violence. It is constantly in the news from gang related violence to robberies, car jackings, etc. and it is as much black on black crime as it is black on white. Honestly, I feel bad for any decent black American who tries to do right, has respect for others, doesn't play offensive music loudly, doesn't commit crime. They have to see their race do these things that unfortunately makes people stereotype them. I have a good black friend, one of the nicest people I know and I respect greatly. He will tell you that it makes him disgusted to see this sort of behavior and that he doesn't even feel safe around people who act this way, be them white, black, Hispanic, whatever. I don't think that white people mind having black people move into their neighborhoods as long as they move in and act decent, respectful and not bring violence and drugs. If I were to act this way and move beside you and you were not use to living like that, you wouldn't like me very well and I couldn't blame you. It really is all about respect, we don't even have to be alike or share the same interest we just need to learn to respect each other and eventually, we will learn to work together.

I feel like this is what it would be like in the USA if everyone was truly allowed to have their own beliefs and understood everyone else was too. I think the word racist gets thrown around a lot today, but this is a perfect example of true racism. True racists don't hide it and aren't ashamed of it. We have reduced the word by throwing it around loosely.
So many words these days have lost their meaning and like you said racist is one of them. There are other words that I can't even mention that have completely lost their meaning vs when I grew up and they actually meant something really bad that you wouldn't joke around about.
They are very straightforward about their racism in the south... it has been simmered to perfection. It's not about black people, or any other race. It's about people acting a fool. They don't have time for that. That guy used a word I haven't heard in decades... "monkeyshines". You all know what it means, and they just don't play that.
Its definately preferable to deal with an open & honest racist. Tom is so calm; you can tell he hasn't spent years suppressing these opinions. I reckon Tom will fondly remember roasting his best black friend with a degree of respect. Although what he said was shocking....the tone of his voice and his body language wasn' aggressive or humiliate the individual.I guess it was sufficiently generalisable to not make it personal. As confirmed by how it was responded to.
It's hard to know how he was when younger but he appears like a person who would leave you alone if you left him alone. Another "plus" with a person like that is you know exactly where they stand, there is no confusion at all. But he doesn't seem like the violent type that would go out of his way to hurt you.
Both men are hilarious! If Tom didn't really like him, he wouldn't have said a single word to him. Just know that if you ask Tom a question, he WILL give you an answer whether you like it or not!
If the guy is really honest, it sounds like this older man was just really burned by seeing a lot of crimes committed. And I’ll be honest, as a white girl in the hood, I couldn’t wait to get out of there because they were just so much crap going on. And I didn’t like how people treat each other just like garbage, even when folks weren’t getting shot - they were being rude, not helping each other out, being corrupt and taking sides, lying and cheating. So dysfunctional!! It was just so bad. I didn’t want to raise my kids in that.
I live 20 min from harrison, and work in harrison. 99 percent of people are awesome here. Just like anywhere else. Its a family in zinc who have messed up the reputation of this area. I was under the same impression before I moved here 4 years ago, my only regret is not moving here sooner. It's beautiful, rivers mountains etc. Most of the people are awesome

We used to have shows on tv where prejudices of all types were laughed at. Everybody laughed and everybody was made fun of, and NO ONE GOT OFFENDED! America would be a lot better off if we could just laugh at our differences, today, and move on!

I live in Harrison...Born and raised. I'm glad the popular RU-vidrs are making these videos. Helps to shed the stigma that Harrison is racist. In fact, the current Miss Arkansas is black and she was born and raised here. Like I said, I've lived here all my life and have never seen or heard of anything happening to a black person. Like Poudii pointed out, Zinc is where Tom Robb from the KKK is located, not Harrison.
I live in the deep south and my wife is from Mexico (I am white) and I’ve never experienced open racism towards either of us but oddly enough I have gotten stares of disapproval (not that I care) when we went into an authentic Mexican restaurant, at the end of the day I don’t give two craps about invalid opinions. I’m not perfect but if everyone could think similarly maybe we could move past this garbage.
People have a tribal instinct. It's not un-normal. What isn't normal is the way we ignore it or try to bury it to act as if it doesn't exist. It's a survival/territorial instinct. The Mexicans are likely used to seeing only Mexican people. When a person from a different race enters a room with one of their women, it is something that is out of place. And, that raises alarm.

Second nobody is denying people are different BUT tribalism is a primitive idea unless you're telling me human beings haven't evolved since the dawn of man. Lastly even when this country had legal segregation and people were very tribalistic that still led to violence. There was no true racial harmony look at red summer and what happened in Tulsa in 1921. Or better yet Yugoslavia and Rwanda in the 90s.

The day I discovered we all the same: my dad and me (wearing cowboy hats n boots) approached a Lincoln Town Car that was broken down on the interstate in the town of Whiteland, Indiana. There were 5 black dudes in it, out of Chicago and some noticeably had guns. They wouldn't roll their windows down but 2 inches and they just mumbled when we asked if they needed help 😂😂. After a few minutes passed the guy in the back middle said...we scared😅. I said of what? He said there's a sign that says Whiteland and we sitting next to a cornfield 😂. My dad said yall from Chicago, you have guns and you're scared of a cornfield and a sign?😂. Long story short, we took their car to a reputable garage and we sat with them at a truck stop in Whiteland while their car was being repaired...they were terrified and we couldn't understand why.
We definitely must always have Freedom of Thought! Even if we don’t agree, it’s what makes everything beautiful. Even if that guy is funny, his thought process is ignorant asf!
