I feel you. When i was in highschool, my dad went overseas, but my mom wanted to work out the last few years to get a decent early retirement package, so we stayed. With just the 2 of us at home for 2 years, we developed an extremely tight bond. Then, 1st year in college, i lived in a dorm an 8 hour train ride from home & only got to go home once a month. This was back in the days before the internet & cell phones, but i was preoccupied with the newness of college life, so the limited communication was only occasionally troubling. My 2nd year she went to join my dad, so no more laundry weekends, home cooking or the odd extra $20-30 to the education fund & worst of all, only the rare long distance call. Mostly missed our catch up chats over cups of tea. Got to stay at home alone through the summer before 3rd year which was disheartening. Then, just as they rented out the house, my parents relocated from the city to a semi rural location in the mountains with only dubious radio phone contact. Suddenly i felt like an orphan set adrift. I was an adult, had lived away from home, but now i had to establish a real home of my own, with no physical support from or connection to family. I was so jealous of fellow students who lived close enough to only board 4-5 nights a week.

Im 30 years old, I have four kids. My mom passed away two years ago the other day my mother-in-law called me that she wanted to spend time with the kids. She wanted to take them to her house. I told her of course, but they have to clean up before they go, she said she’ll come in 20 minutes she was here in less than five minutes And I am beyond grateful. She told them to clean up their room. She washed the dishes, and threw out the trash 20 minutes later, dishes, clean, and trash thrown out. she took three of my four kids to her house I am so grateful for that. She helps me so much. And no she doesn’t do this all the time this is the third time in the two years she came to help she Said she knows how hard it is. That a mother’s job is never done even though we clean it gets dirty right away. I’m aso happy to have a wonderful mother in law like her.

Exactly! He really is far from spoiled. Prior to medical school he lived in Maryland on his own, commuted to Washington DC daily to work in a lab, paid his own bills, cooked his own food / or ate out😅 volunteers with younger students who want to go into medicine……point is he is quite capable of taking care of himself and does but his plate is full most of the time. We are so happy to have him living in the same state while in medical school knowing there is a chance residency will be out of state again in the future. We are happy to help in small ways and typically it is only about once a month while he is out working or studying.

I am certain he appreciates this more than you know, adulting can be very rough sometimes especially while in school and to have the extra support, is super encouraging - to know that you are not out here doing it all on your own!!! I’m sure it put a smile on his face 💗💗 God bless y’all!

@@shauntelleclark243 I'm sure it's a bit of both as we all know people are judgmental and what you put on the internet unfortunately will be judged, and everyone does not have the same perspective and mindset about things, it's the world we live in, sad but true. People will find something to judge and be negative about no matter what it is. I see it daily.

I can't even imagine this kind of support. So many people are struggling to keep their heads above water. There are only so many hours in the day. Especially for moms recovering from giving birth (or just parents in general). My mother in law has spent years watching TV all day long, making excuses when we need help, like she just doesn't have any interest in her grandkids or seem to care that we are struggling in general. My kids will have my full support through all stages of life. I could never just lay around all day knowing my kids and grandkids needed me. It's about showing up for each other in whatever way we can. It's so beautiful to see this kind of love and support on full display here. ❤ The world needs more shining examples of this!!
@SunbeanCat
@SunbeanCat 3 месяца назад
Who did you have your kids for? Your mother in law? You wanted to have a family. They are your responsibility. Your life is your responsibility. Also, when it comes to work, everything in our world is automated. You have a dishwasher, a microwave oven, washing machines, and automated vacuum cleaner. What exactly do you even need the help with, loading the dishwasher and folding clothes. You don't even have to cook any longer, there is baby food prepackaged. It's not like you have to go get water from the lake or grow your own food. You don't have to wash laundry by hand, scribing your hand to blood. Modern people are so lazy and entitled.

@Catsmeow90 I would have completely agreed with you if we didn't have any modern-day convinces and technology, or at least they would have 10 kids. If someone struggles to take care of one child with the bare minimum work requirements, they never should have had that kid in the first place.

There is a very fine line between helping and being a helicopter parent. The key is knowing where that line is and if it is being crossed. Doing this type of task uninvited can sometimes do more harm than good. Some people find housework a relaxing diversion from more stressful tasks (I.e. work, classes, home conflicts, etc.) and as such use the housework as an opportunity to clear their mind. I believe that they should have asked for permission, ask if they needed any help, before invading their child’s space.
