So glad I found your channel again , you saved my cat , the vet said to put her down , I did what you said , Hes doin fine its 5 years later. We need more people like you in the world. Thank you !
My cat has been sneezing everyday for about 6+ months and the vet hasn't been too helpful. Fortunately, this is the most information we've received since his sneezing battle. We look forward to trying this out and reporting back. Thanks!
Wow, that was amazing! Thank you sooo much. I have 4 cats and a virus has hit 3 of them and I was wondering what to do and found you. I am so glad I did! Bless you.
@@Gonrich7 the lavender oil didn't seem to help. My mister was the tiniest one made . But the kittens like to out their face in the mist I tried the other oils as well
@@bobbrawley2612 ;I have a suggestion, although I have not tried it out on my kitten, but I will & that's to use colloidal silver in a diffuser or humidifier . *** it's extremely important NOT to use tap water, especially if you have chlorinated, fluoridated water....both are extremely toxic when breathed in. So buy a couple gallons of either RO water or distilled....that would be my suggestion anyways.
Thank you sir. You are certainly a gentleman and a scholar! I have several indoor cats at home and I will try these remedies that you have mentioned. Most vets will not tell you what you have and that makes you a superhero!
Thank you so much for this video. My cat has been sneezing a lot for a few days. I caught him sleeping with his mouth open, as he was having trouble breathing. I went to Natural Grocers today and bought some elderberry, nasal spray, and honey. He is already looking a lot better than he did earlier today. Thank you for "spilling the tea"!!!
I have the same issue and had no idea where to buy. I have a Natural Grocers nearby and will go tomorrow. Thanks for mentioning where you bought the medications.
My cat did that in March and took him to the Vet and he was on antibiotics for an Upper Respiratory Infection. He slept in the bedroom with the Vaporizer and I added some Vicks Steam in it which helped him alot.
I read that lavender essential oils are toxic for cats. Can you please explain this more? I love using essential oils, but have had to stop because of pets.
I have a 12 week old kitten that we have been battling a virus since we got her about 4 weeks ago. Will try this. Thank you!! The antibiotics just aren’t cutting it for her fast enough. Poor baby is sneezing and congested. We adopted another kitten with her that the antibiotics worked like a charm on. The sick kitten was the runt and is actually a bit older than our other kitten, but is nearly half her size. Xena is an adorable little love nugget and just want her all better. She deserves it.
Update: My oldest cat of 18 years, just passed away yesterday. The sickness targeted other weak areas of his body. 🥺😞 literally the saddest thing ever. So if you have an old cat, make sure you get him checked out ASAP. I didn't recognize the signs until it was too late. The doc gave me medicine but it didn't help. It only made him throw up.
Thanks Doc for your advice. My 2 yr old male cat and I were both sneezing and congested So I ran the hot shower and both had a steam bath for around 15 mins. When we got out I lit my tiny lavender candle and put Vicks vapo rub on my chest and on the grill of the room heater. We did that 3 times so this morning he was almost back to his silly self. The difference in him was a relief to me although I am still sneezing but ide rather it be me than him. Thanks for your words of affordable wisdom from Jack and myself.
i am so worried about my cat who wont stop sneezing, but tomorrow is thanksgiving and i also don’t have funds for the vet at the moment. thank you for this video and your dedication to animals. i’m hoping one of these will bring my baby some relief.
@@zlu3051 well if it helps, my cats are still having sneezing periodically and its been 10 days. they were eating and playing normally after like 4-5 days and i can definitely see some improvement. so they will prob get sicker before they get better
Doctor Jones where have you been all my life😊. YOU are so amazing! Thank you so much for your videos and help in treating my cats! What a relief and breath of fresh air you are! You explain everything in such detail and for us that rescue and take care of animals out of our own pockets, this information is priceless! A thousand thank you’s Doc😻
I have a Sphynx cat with bad allergies. Our vet recommended an air purifier, which has helped, but the problem is still there. I ordered a humidifier with the lavender oil and I’m hoping that will keep my baby comfortable. Thank you for the video! This information is gold.
I fed 1/2tsp honey/day to my rescue, who could only could open his eyes half way, they were always foggy and drippy, and he was sneezy as well as pretty lethargic. After two months, he can open his eyes and actually runs around, which I didn't think he as an older cat would do. OMG THANK YOU.
@@mamandapanda185 thank you sm, i just mixed it with water and syringed it into his mouth which surprisingly worked well because he couldn't spit it out
I just put it in the water I also had pink Himalayan salt because it has 84 minerals and electric lights and helps you mucus come out and our bodies need salt and minerals you can also put the lysine in the water to dissolve and give small amounts through their water drinking.
Very helpful videos. Almost all 9 of my cats have a recurring URI and I've been looking for a treatment to finally end this. It's been 2mos. Thank you!
I have the lavender going. The Lysine 500 mg went in his food, my vet suggested this higher dosage the first day. I pray this is okay? He has stopped sneezing, is eating and drinking well. He's very tired, sleeping mostly, but vet said to expect that. I just began his treatment today, so fingers crossed. Last night was a long night for us both, no sleep. Thank you Dr for this info. I've been so worried, glad I found you today.
You are a life saver. My elderly cat has been sneezing so much and now she has slight discharge from her nose and eyes, she has not had an appetite so I had to syringe feed her all day to get a 5 oz can of food in her belly. It's after midnight and I was hoping and praying to find a solution to help my poor Little Girl. I'm going to give her honey and L-lysine tonight to start the healing process. Thank you so much.
I boil a pot of water, or make Chicken soup, which add moisture to the air. My cats also love chicken soup. When the colds get real bad a pot of boiling water on stove simmering with a table spoon of Vicks does the trick. My older cats love the electric blanket, or water bed. Bubble wrap on window glass help keeps window insultated. Thanks for the added info.
Yes I totally agree. Me too I would like to know how many drops to put in each nostril. I am going to try only one drop per nostril to provide my cat immediate relief so he can breath threw the nose.
Sometimes it is awesome how things happen. I take L-lysine frequently to protect myself from cold sores (effective). My hubby thought I was out and bought me 2 more bottles. I had 1 extra already. Then my 6yr boy started sneezing and not eating well. Now I have the perfect reason why the extra supplements came my way. Thank you for this great video.
Lysine has been my go-to for our "almost" 17 year old girl! I was able to find capsules with powdered form which is easy to give and seems to make a difference!! Will be looking into this Elderberry juice for cats . . . and humans, too, I presume!! Very happy to discover this channel!
@@groofoot yes...I grind them up into powder and put a 1/2 t per one can of wet food but you can give up to 1000 MG a day to each adult cat and especially if they have a flair up. I just as a general rule give this everyday so they have that always in their system.
Thank you so much for this!!! I adopted a young cat a week and a half ago and she came sneezing, watery eyes, not eating 😢 the vet tried to charge $500 for antibiotics with a bunch of upcharges and add ons. I told them I wasn't new and didn't need most of the stuff they were trying to sell me - hills food, a probiotic, vaccines, etc. I argued the bill down to just the visit and medicine. But then, she had such a horrible sneeze attack that some bloody snot appeared. I found this video and now after 2 1/2 days of the antibiotics, elderberry, Lysine, echinacea, and honey...her eyes are dry, no sneezing, and she's pigging out on her food and peeing and pooping normally. And won't stop headbutting me 😂❤ You're amazing! ❤
How old is your cat?? My baby just turned 1 years old, and he's been sneezing ALL DAY, as of yesterday. I want to call the vet, but my financial situation is not good right now and I couldn't even afford what he'd try to sell me. My cat has watery eyes, and he's doing sneeze marathons. He's eating a little, but it's not time for his wet food yet, so I didn't give it to him. I want to try the shower steam, and see if that clears his nose up. When you did the Elderberry, did you buy the bottle?? I need my baby to get better. He's my first cat, and I really want to be a great cat mom for him. He's my everything. ❤❤❤
Gabrielle Smith tell me about it. After spending nearly 10,000$ on my last cat I'm not doing it again! The most help my cat ever got was allways my help , vets made him worse and charge me for it
I’m really impressed with your video and this information resonates with how I care for my cat holistically. She is 16 years old and has struggled with an URI on & off for the last 9 years. I don’t like antibiotics and think your advice about L-Lysine sounds effective. My question is: does your product ULTIMATE FELINE contain enough L-Lysine to treat the cat flu? Or should i concoct an elderberry/L-lysine-honey treatment? Thank you for your time!
Another need for me (my cat). I'm relatively late finding you so I'm finding your older vids. You've already helped me well. And now I say thanks again.
@@VeterinarySecrets I've been long interested in non-pharmaceutical treatments. Far less "other effects" than with nature created healing stuff. Seems less panic in recipients immune systems. I think MOST pharmaceutical medications, in human and in animal, are looked upon as "invasionary". And possibly causes inflammatory issues as a result. Defence fighting throughout the body. Only my theory.
Glad I found your channel. My 5 month old kitten has been sneezing since we got her. Around 2 months now, but her sneezing is not that much around 2 -3 times a day. There are days she doesn't sneeze and some days she does. We took her to the vet thinking that she got fever or what but the vet said no fever at all after checking her temperature. We asked what should be done and the vet can't even give us any advice instead she's trying to give her a tablet but refused since she's not sick. She's eating well, playful and quite healthy. I'm thinking of taking her to a specialist but I might try your advice first.
May I know how your cat is doing now? My kitten is about 7 months old and has similar symptoms to yours. Would appreciate it if I can know if any of these work.
Thank you so very much, Dr Jones! You have given great options! My cats have been sneezing but my male cat is sneezing way more than my female furbaby. I give them L-lysine, acv, colloidal silver. Now I will add elderberry juice and the nose spray. Thanks!!
@@VeterinarySecrets Hello, question when researching, about elderberry, it says it is Toxic for DOgs and Cats? Is this true? I don't want to Poison him, he s 21 years old, and after going to the Vet and getting antibiotics, and a 10 day treatment he didn't shake the Feline Herpes "kitty Flu" just trying to make sure. Thanks
@Veterinary Secrets one of my indoor kitties had nasty sneezing this week so I tried the lavender oil and happy to say she is so much better! Thank you for the advice! Much appreciated!💕🐱🐱🐱
THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! I have been looking for HOURS to find someone knowledgeable with herbs to find out what to do to treat some kittens besides saying to take her to a vet. I live in East Texas in the boonies so, humidity in the air is not a problem... I have many feral cats who live around here & recently I've been taking care of an abandoned kitten, I would guess it's about 4 to 6 weeks old, very little, undernourished & now it caught this 'flu' from another of the older kittens who are here. ....specifically, one who so far, is untouchable by me, so chances of treating it are next to nil, unless I can put something in the food & water for them all. The only thing I could think of was putting some colloidal silver in their water, but I also have racoons & a possum, who seem to like the cat's water container, so I have to change it every day & sometimes twice a night.....after cleaning it...but I have no other ideas on what to give cats. I know about most herbs, just didn't know what I could give to cats & what would be toxic to them.I have some L-Lysine in capsules but no wild elderberry so I will see where I can pick up some tomorrow. This kitten is so small though, that I am not sure what kind of dose to give her....I'm hoping you'll get back to me so I can start treating her asap. I also have organic honey, so I'll give her some of that later on tonite when she wants to eat. Again, thank you so much for making this vid , I REALLY, REALLY APPRECIATE YOU!
I MUST comment! One of my boys is a lifelong sufferer of cat flu or feline herpes as you will. He recently had dental surgery in which during and after he did just fine with.... 😌Uneventful. But surgery IS a stress on the system nonetheless and CAN have a trickle down effect and especially on these cats that suffer from these chronic respiratory diseases or any chronic illness. About two and half weeks post op, Simon came down with a case of cat flu. He was sneezing (no nasty discharge thank goodness, just clear droplets) aaand his eyes were watery and puffy too. He HAD been eating, drinking and playing, going to the box... pretty much his old self but suddenly stopped all activities, so I knew what was going on when I looked at him. I heard him sneeze too so I was suspicious. And he started hiding which is a BIG clue of this illness 'cause their eyes are usually extra sensitive. They just feel like crap. He will not touch anything that has L-lysine in it. Absolutely NOT. You cannot get it by him or in him. It just stresses him out more which stress of any kind is the whole issue here. With his hx of eye ulcers I do keep rx eye ointment on hand for this reason. We narrowly escaped eye surgery once already. I went out into the city and got the Elderberry for him and I already had local raw honey. ( I had started the honey) Gave him the recommended dose and within less than 36 hours he had STOPPED sneezing and his nasal discharge had also STOPPED. He began to eat and drink a little and by the 3rd day he was feeling much better and getting back to normal. Day 4 was great! His eyes had stopped watering pretty much but bc of his previous hx of eye ulcer, I did continue his rx eye ointment for the recommended prescribed time. THANK YOU,THANK YOU Dr. Andrew for this video! I had it saved for this! Elderberry and raw local🍇🍯🥄 honey for feline upper respiratory syndrome/cat flu! IT WORKS! I will certainly try this again next time.😉 YEEESSS!!!! It works!!!! -wanda,Simon andGiorgio😊🙋♀️💙👑 (pee.ess.) One thing I need to mention here. I was not able to buy dried elderberries and make the juice myself, the health food store was out of them. I had to buy a big bottle of concentrate which had the glycerin in it and of course like all my cat's meds,I tested/tasted it first. It's sticky sweet stuff and together with the honey I think it was just too much sweetness for my kitty bc he really acted in this way as well.(spit some of it up🙄 drama king)So after the 3rd day, I began to give about half the dose with some filtered water to dilute it. That was much better!I'm still going back to get the REAL berries and make the juice myself so we don't have this issue. That glycerin is REALLY sweet stuff with honey paired but OF COURSE but we DON'T want to use alchohol based products on cats.😏
L-lysine, you should have LED WITH THAT. B12- Adenocylcobalamin will heal nerves as well. The other stuff is great but not curing. Let's deal with reducing the viral load as much as possible. Honey, and picking berries? Way too soft of a remedy. What about a nebulizer as well? My kitten panics in the bathroom. He is very adverse from day one.
Well tell us the extreme remedies. The vet is restricted to what he can recommend with home remedies you are not . You gave some suggestion . Which I didn't understand gives us more .
My 11 year old persian male cat passed away 5 days ago. I am so sad and devasted. He developed asthma like symptoms and was given cortisone injection then he collapsed. He was breathing from his mouth and was on lasix, butalin salbutamol and vasodilatprs, azithromycin the vet couldnt save his life. I think he used too many strong medications which lead to his heart failure I am taking legal action tomorrow :(
That is so sad! 2 years ago my wife and I lost 4 cats in 4 months! It killed me every time I built a wooden box for them. We have a place we bury them at, and after 15 years we must of buried 10 cats, and 1 dog!
There needs to be more natural treatments not pharmaceutical chemicals treatments for animals and humans. It is rough losing a fur baby . Sorry you lost your cat.
Good video. I already use lysine. Also make lemon balm tea for his water once or twice a week. Have used frankincense and myrrh burned on charcoal. Good for the respiratory system.
So question here. My cat is sneezing but no watery eyes no mucus and nothing wet near the noise. After eating she'll sneeze and though out the day. The only thing odd I've seen was green watery throw up in the morning but only once
When he showed up here he could barely eat sneezing out all that mucus. A cat supplement had 500 mg L-lysine--same as my capsule. Did well! Still gets a weepy left eye tho...
Well, I do have a cat for the last 3 years. It will be difficult for a cat to eat pure honey and you may waste the doze. So I would suggest to take 3 spoons of warm water and mix the half tea spoon of honey and use syringe for dropping the desired dose in Cat mouth. I believe it is the best way!!
Thank you. My kitten just turned a year old and early on he had lots of sinus trouble. I switched our litter to the grass seed type and it has a lot less dust! But, he still has days where he seems to have "hay fever" and this will help. Lucky for him, Ive had lots of sinus troubles so I will help him best I can.
Beautiful Heart you have helping stray cat. Me too. I adopted a stray cat and he only comes back to eat and sleep and he walks outside all night every day. Recently he started to sneeze a lot.
Lots of great options! Thank you for the info! I have a question, one thing I use regularly is L-lysine 500mg powder (comes in a capsule and I open it) and sprinkle it on her dry food (she eats the whole 8oz bowl in 2-3 days). The vitamin for most part keeps sneezing away but she periodically has watery eyes for about a week then clears up with no sneezing. What else could I add to help with the watery eyes? Thanks 😉
can you give him the Little Noses Saline drops? seems to help flush the sinuses for mine and her eyes aren't as watery. I also wipe her face/eyes with a warm damp washcloth when she has a flareup to keep the discharge down
Dr. Jones, I am so glad I found your channel! My cat has an upper respiratory infection and the poor little guy just seems miserable. He has been to the vet and was prescribed Clavamox, but I was looking for supportive therapies I can use to help make him more comfortable while waiting for the antibiotics to work. Although I do wonder why an antibiotic is used for a virus?
Hi Dr. Jones! Always so grateful for having found you. Some questions before I start with your amazing recommendations: 1. Can I use Manuka honey? 2. If so, would 1/2 teaspoon be the dose still? If not, what dose instead? 3. If yes, when I dissolve the Manuka in the elderberry juice (purchased), can I mix it with my cat's wet food for her to eat? 4. In that same cocktail, could I mix the crushed L-lysine? Many, many thanks and looking forward to hearing from you! :)
My cat’s nose sounds congested and has for like 2 months. She went to the vet and did two weeks twice a day of doxycycline and she went back a few days ago and they said her lungs and everything sounds perfect but I can still hear congestion and her sneezes are wet. I’m getting so frustrated because I don’t know what to do and I need her.
My older cat has lived outdoors all his life until I got him fixed now he spends a lot of time on the back porch. He isnt used to the litter and now he is sneezing and congested. Eyes watery nose stopped up. I'm trying to help him with plain yogurt that always helps with fever and stomach or whatever. Sneezing is caused from irritation of the nasal just like with us. it isnt just 1 thing that can cause irritation.
I’ve read that many essential oils including lavender can be toxic to cats because of their sensitive noses and thin skin. Are you using a specific type of lavender oil? Would love it for both of us if I can diffuse it in the bedroom safely.
Im here, because I got blind kitten outside, two eyes blinds, but until now 3 months of feeding, her sneezing can't not stop...that's why I search for cure of that kitten, thanks for good Information Doc.God bless
My cat just started sneezing a week and a half ago and I’ve been trying to Find out what I can do for her this is the perfect answer. We have a natural grocer store near us so hopefully I can get most of what you have shown at the store. I also have access to a current Jeffers catalog might have stuff in there.
I took my strictly indoor cat to the animal ER affiliated with a university vet school for feline urologic syndrome...discomfort, frequent small amounts urine, blood in urine high pH. He was there over 8 hours. They sent him home with some meds and I'm happy to say that after about five days he is doing much better with the urinary problem. However, today he started having one watery eye and is sneezing. He must have picked up a virus at the ER, crowded with sick cats and dogs. I will try some of your tips. Poor guy. Thank you.
hi there! thanks for this video! is it safe to give both the elderberry/honey mixture AND the L-Lysine at the same time? i should i stagger them? (elderberry/honey first?) . Also, what is the best method for giving my cat the mixture (i'm guessing she won't be interested in just lapping it up on her own!)... a syringe? hope you can answer soon... just sweet cat is on her second night of sneezing fits (she was given a break during the day). Thanks!
I have been reading that essential oils, such as lavendar, are toxic to cats, so I'm hesitant to use it in an aromatherapy diffuser. Would it be safer to use just a large-tank warm mist humidifier?
And on another note if your cat is asthmatic and doesn't just have a cold you don't want to use any scented products particularly in a vaporizer. Saline in sterile water would be the best choice for an asthma cat.
Dr Jones ,, you are sooo appreciated !! thank you .. for ur wisdom.. Blessings to u ,, / Can I give Sambucus Elderberry Immune syrup to my cat ?? If I can .. how much and how often per day ? .. this is Supplement facts for 2 teasp ::: Vit C 100mg, Zinc 10mg..Proprietary blend Echinacea root, flower and propolis 478mg , and black Elder 100mg
Well I've been told from Anju that Essential Oils or theirs are not for cats and some websites say they are poisonous to animals and the vet said to check the ingredients first, so I would be very careful and nor risk using any oils for aromatherapy in a house with animals. I will only use clean water with mine.
Thanks for the info!!! Seeing that elderberry juice concentrate reminds me of my grandmother's elderberry preserves!!! I love elderberry preserves, jam, and jelly!!! YUMMY!!! :-)
Did the Elderberry juice work I just ordered some online and how do I administer it do I put it in a syringe and just give it to her or do I put it in her food
Lightly sautéing a little calves liver in butter and mincing it up seems to treat and keep kitty colds away. 2 tablespoons per day and then once a week after cold is gone.
My 19+ year elderly cat just started sneezing a bunch today. I lost my 18 year old this past November. I have all the ingredients in liquid form that I usually take for myself. Hopefully this will resolve my sweet girl from having any further issues, thank you! Is it okay to give her Colloidal silver too?
@@ThreeTimesCharmVlogs She was fine, and then recently with the cold weather, she seems a bit congested. I forgot all about these remedies and will try them again for her. Thank you for asking and reminding me of this.
Hello Dr. Andrew thank you for the great video! I have a question is the l lysine 100 mg per cat per day or 1000mg I have only been able to find 500 mg as the smallest dose and I just want to clarify, thank you in advance for your time.
I have a cat who got chronic congestion. After getting antibiotics like amoxicillin and doxycycline and 3 weeks of treatment, the issue is not resolved completely, although discharge and sneezing not there. The vet says it's chronic. Can you please siggest
Great video as always! And all these remedies are greatly recommended for humans too!! I've used them all except the elderberry. These are all widely proven and known remedies so people should try these before heading for expensive synthetic pills.
I feed wild cats a virus has moved through each one pretty fast now the kittens have it .I going to add some honey to their food .I can get a hold of the kittens when they are in the cat house I made to clean their eyes and nose .I don't have that other stuff .I have been giving them bone broth every night too .
I heard my cat sneeze a few times yesterday I'm glad I came across this video. He hasn't sneezed today. I guess it's the weather change or he breathed in dust maybe. I'm saving this video in my favorites.
