That is sooo freaking cool how it goes into different parts of levels from each game I spent soo many hours playing all of them I need this in my lifeeee
@@LetsPlayRomHacks I found it and downloaded it. :) Already recorded some levels for my channel. So in love with the game. I play the original DKC trilogy every day at Off The ChainZ Disc Golf Store.
I would love a modern dkc123 remake with modern graphics. No super character gimmicks )dixie gets her spin jump, dk ground pound, baby the water hop, and diddy just being amazing( One hit per long. No hearts. Lose a long, he runs off. Lone kong gets hit, you die. Kremlings as the main villains again. NOBODY ELSE. Boom. PERFECT DKC FPR MODERN DAYS
So, just to check, this runs on actual SNES? 29:28 This is such a good level for showing a few things together that really the Super Nintendo was capable of in that generation. And it's mainly because of that third layer plus colour math, alongside just the wide colour gamut that allows all the different tones of basically yellow to red. It looks lovely too.
I completely agree with you the Devs did a great job with the design and blending elements from all 3 games together. The demo/game itself runs on an executable program and not SNES but I'm sure the devs could get it to work on an actual ROM but right now the game is proof of concept. Unfortunately it has been in this demo state for years without any progress.
Also one thing to note that's not very clear in the video, the 'physics' are not the same and feel more slippery than the original SNES games. This made the game play a lot harder.
@@Gorilla-r4g I meant for me. But, yeah, for other people who just want to play new fan games and stuff, for sure. What I want to see though is proper new games for actual SNES. Just my personal thing.
@@LetsPlayRomHacks I dont care bout the difficulty that spider looks terrifying, imagine seeing that thing if it did came out in the 90s boy so many kids would be in fear
Looks great, but seems certain errors can be seen from platform edge standing and hitbox issues. Location environment and baddies are randomly mixed not making sense to the level area like past games.
Yep hitboxes aren't entirely accurate and the physics is also 'slippery' compared to the original games. Platforming was much more difficult than it looks.
I really wanna play this one day but every time I check up on it, it's still unfinished. such a bummer. to anyone working on this, please finish it. so many of us are itching to play this.
The game is not too bad. In fact I can see the creators are familiar with the playstyle of DKC enough and considering this is a PC game and not a romhack, it looks just as good as a real SNES one. However, if you call this DKC4, i can understand people's criticism, you set the bar too high, and your fan creation is going to be in direct comparison to the SNES trilogy, considered to be masterpieces (the first 2 at least). So there's that. Hopefully it gets refined and finished in the future.
Some hit boxes are very questionable in this game, not quite the same as the original. Also the physics are a lot more slippery. Still a great game though!
Only about 10 minutes or so into the gameplay and I can see that something is off about the hitboxes. It's like they feel too big or something. I see that you've already mentioned something previously about the physics being different, so I won't say anything here, but I did take note of the fact while watching.
Yes definitely the hitboxes are off on some enemies. You can see I lost a life in the second stage to a snake that looked like I should have hit it instead. The physics and movement feels slippery compared to the original games and made platforming difficult. I'm sure everything could be fixed with updates but unfortunately the game has been in this demo state for years.
Fan Games, especially big ones, take a LONG time to finish. after all, you have to understand that Modders are doing projects such as these out of love and passion, they arent getting paid for their time and thus have to work their 9 to 5 jobs before working on said projects, so they may have a few hours at best to work on it each day.
@@KurisuKagato the problem with Chunky is that nearly all his special abilities are designed for a 3D envirnment...Tiny can get away with 2D maybe because she is similar to Dixie (except for the shrinking small thing). Chunky though is all about brute strength and growing huge...brute strength is kind of covered between DK and Kiddy...growing big would be awkward on a DK country game to say the least...while i have no issue with "the more merrier" when it comes to characters Chunky needs to bring something to the table. In DK 64 they all had a role: DK: Strong, Leader Diddy: fast/ acrobatic (plus jetpack) Lanky: quirky and amusing, only one who can do certain strange thngs Tiny: fast/ acrobatic, goes small Chunky: super strong, grows big
This game doesn't look good. There are like more than 10 different enemies only in the first level. Like why? And the first level changes a lot. From jungle to suddenly a lake. Also the music doesn't fit the level. I'll give it 1 of 10
@@jamestomlin5525 I would say the person who developed this remake doesn't understand the concept of DK at all. It's like throwing spaghetti ala bolonesa with lasagna, pizza in one plate and call it: this is Italys main dish remake
This is definitely the game we needed and still do. The switch version of donkey king country returns is horrible. Nothing like the original ones. The controls are jacked up and the game’s peripherals are absolutely abysmal at best For the donkey Kong country returns, series on the switch!
This should have been a super nintendo game from the damn start nintendo messing up there consoles and not sticking with the originals stuff that they had when they really didn't need 3D games just Nes and Snes that was it
Nintendo created everything from scratch. Everything. This hack just took everything that Nintendo created and blended it together in a mess of a "game" I don't see any way at all this is better than the original DK games
Nintendo could be watching from a distance and waiting for their "opportunity" to send their ninjas and DMCA/C&D Lawyers to ruin another fan project and their reason could be because of DKC Returns Wii (or 3ds) Port for the Switch
@@josephfrye7342 I know, just putting that out there since Nintendo has their "reasons" to take down a fan project, happened with a metroid fan game because of Prime 4 and my thoughts say that they'll attack DKC 4 because of the Switch port of the original DKC Returns
Not happening, Nintendo is waiting for their opportunity to ruin another cool fan project and their reason could be because of the Wii or 3DS port for DKC Returns
