Although the 3D graphics are clearly old by today's standards, that was revolutionary back in 1993. The original Star Fox felt like an arcade at home back then thanks to the Super FX chip. I do not own this in a real SNES yet, but I did played and beaten it altogether in the SNES Classic. Very fun yet challenging masterpiece.
@@TomboyGamerGal its for the sake of authenticity. A CRT with the legit console and cart give a more emotional response to playing. I collect myself, but not NES and SNES era since the games are so easily attainable by much cheaper means, but N64 onward is where i only buy cartridges and discs physically. Even if it is more expensive
THe flat polygons are actually a great way to see the SNES color pallette which is 64x larger than GENESIS. See how bright the colors are compared to anything else from that time its beautiful
We have 3D graphics today because Nintendo with their Mode 7 and FX Chip and SEGA with the SEGA CD / MEGA CD started to experiment with 3D graphics. That's the reason the PS1 was primarily a 3D console and everything else changed after that. What people forget is that it all started with Nintendo and Sega and their 16-bit consoles.
I really hope that Nintendo remembers that Star Fox turns 30 next year. The series is long overdue for a comeback and new title. Or, at the very least, a remaster of one of the later games.
And I hope there's an internal memo to keep Shigeru out of it. Last thing we want is another Star Fox Zero. Assault was a good direction, it just came out at an awkward time.
The opening is so beautifully ominous, I'd argue it could pass for a modern game given this graphic style (thankfully) never went extinct. The hybrid of 3D rendering/2D sprites was completely unnoticeable under the bassy futuristic rock/synth and satisfying laser destruction. The transition from planetary battles to asteroids and beyond was completely mesmerizing. As a kid more excited to shoot first, read later, I remember being told by older cousins not to shoot my friends! Such a classic, thanks for reviving memories.
I remember opening my copy of Starfox and modding a 27MHz crystal oscillator in place of its stock speed of 10MHz for a greater, smooth gameplay. I beat DOOM & STARFOX in comfort after doing this to both of them.
Thats why i say: How can such a game not be considered a masterpiece to humanity? Video games should be considered world heritage, the 8th art for sure
I agree with you, and the industry needs to do a better job preserving these classics. Hopefully in the future, classic videogames will be as accessible as classic music.
I remember perfectly playing this game for the first time back in mid 90'. This intro. The spaceship launcher and the first seconds of this game. 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯 Then, the differents levels, the bosses, and after hard work: the end sequence.
In my opinion it still holds up and plays very well unlike other old snes and nes games that are only good in memory but don't hold up when booting it up in 2022
I Bet Raymond Fabi And John Towner Williams Will Compose And Conduct Star Fox Games Along With Simon Rhodes, Conrad Pope, Sandy De Crescent And Steven Lee Kisor Smith!
I remembered playing a demo of it years ago. Played it on Nintendo Switch online and beaten it. It was very challenging and I enjoyed it. I hope Nintendo re-release a collection of the Star Fox games someday the same way Sega re-released the Sonic games.
Imagine, if you will, that the Bucc-ee’s mascot head is a creepypasta character… The top of his shoulders are flippers and his puffy cheeks are actually little Kirby arms… The last thing you hear before he kills you is “PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP PLAP”, a sound similar to the beaver bosses from DKC laughing, then your skull getting cronched… Sleep tight…
newcomer here! ; - ) I had the StarFox 1.0 US cartridge, where it had the game-breaking bug on the 3rd Route (Hard) while battling against Great Commander in Space. If you spammed the select button to enter 1st person view camera while the arwing was doing the 180° turn around, (right after the boss passed by below) it'd get stuck indefinitely on your back and the game could not continue.
Difícil mejorar el primer star fox , esa si fue una batalla contra los Alien , la imaginación vuela en cada etapa con los enemigos , una obra maestra de Katsuya Eguchi y Nintendo
I swear, no one ever gets the twin blasters upgrade in route 1 Asteroid Field. Where you see the three red asteroids form an equilateral triangle, if you fly through a twin blaster upgrade will spawn. Just make certain not to blast any of asteroids in the triangle.
Already shown in the Black Hole route which starts at 1:54:10. I definitely wasn't going to leave out anything here, eh? ;)

Anybody knows why the music in this game and the N64 are so different? Is like changing the music in Back to the Future 2... They have to keep the same compositions, the same tune.

Please, PLEASE stop shooting aimlessly I can barely hear any other sound effect in the game and the great OST. It gets much worse since you upgraded the main weapon to that crappy ball like shot instead of the awesome twin lasers.
