Hey man great job on this video. I just subscribed…love your work! By any chance do you know what size Capacitor C1 is on the side where the 3V batt is? I ended up not thinking and grabbed by batt with a pair of pliers and shorted/burned out C1. From research I’ve done…C1 is there for surge protection. I’m hopping I can save this carriage as it is current not working at all 😢

Thank you! I took a look through my old footage and zoomed in and the only thing I can see on cap 1 is GCZ 22 6V. My best guess is that it is a 22uF 6v cap and the GCZ is the manufacturer? But you may need to look up some additional info to be sure. Good to know what C1 is used for too, best of luck with your fix!

Good video until you used sandpaper on the pins. Yikes! That will take off the outer gold layer of metal on the pins and they'll oxidize much quicker in the future. They looked great to begin with. Next time use a white pencil eraser to buff the pins if you need to.

I've tried erasers to buff pins in the past and from my experience they don't really work and I've never had any long term issues with using the sandpaper either. You just can't push down hard. Do it very lightly to get the top layers of dirt off and you should be good. If you do push too hard and remove too much, it can still be fixed again without much effort.

hi, please tell me what could with “the secret mana” game, it freezes after loading the save. music plays other characters move but my character does not respond to the joystick

I've found that doing a really deep clean on the cartridge or system or both normally fixes a lot of the issues like that. I would start there first and see if that works. If not, then dig into other methods like looking for shorts or breaks on the board. Each situation is really unique though.
