Since this install, have you done any cleanup of your wiring? I have a ‘90 YJ and am planning on upgrading to the Sniper. I did what you did with the 20 gal tank, in-tank electric fuel pump. I also installed a matching connector to use the Orange fuel pump wire. That’s where I’ve stopped. I’m trying to go super clean with the stock ECU (I’m in California) so I’m trying to figure out the Relay configuration. I have a detailed schematic for the ECU because the orange wire goes to the ECU. I need to figure the fuel pump circuit from the ECU to the Relay. The 4 cylinder harness is the same which is why the Orange wire was there ready to hook up, but (I don’t know about this) I’m pretty sure the ECU is programmed differently. I’m keeping all my smog accessories except the sniper will do efficiently what the BBD and the Stepper Motor does a terrible job doing. I’m going to disconnect all the Stepper connections from the ECU as well. I’m trying to avoid jumper wires by passing the ECU, and that’s why I’m asking if you’ve done any wiring upgrades since your initial install. Also, do you have any rollover protection with a fuel pump cutoff switch? Sorry for the long question.
Very helpful video. I have a 1990 258 YJ. 2 years ago I installed, like you did, a new 20 Gal tank with the in-tank fuel pump and I also installed a new connector to use the stock fuel pump wire on the factory wiring harness. All that now works perfect. Here’s where I’m at. I STILL have not terminated the fuel pump wire in the engine compartment. I’m in California and need to keep all my dinosaur smog gizmos. Other than visual clutter, none of them affect performance in any way. Obviously you don’t live in California since you’ve DC’d everything. Any engine compartment wiring harness updates? I don’t have a Sniper yet but plan on getting one and that’s why I installed the electric fuel pump. It seems that if the Sniper ECU controls the fuel pump, and the ECU powers up by the ignition, I should be able to splice the factory fuel pump wire to the Sniper fuel pump wire? Also, it’s a jeep. I’ve done tons of research on this and it seems we are on our own for ‘88-‘90 owners, but what about a roll over fuel pump cut off switch? Also curious if you’ve integrated your ignition/distributor with the Sniper? Thank for the video. I hope it’s working well for you.
