Really happy how Tac-tv are taking suggestions like this. Good to see it's not like they're just trying to be a tv show, there's a lot of community interaction which is what youtube is good for. Great video as always, keep it up.
I was sniper in FDF about 13 years ago when our TRG-42 project was being implemented and tested out. Me and my team got a chance to test out the AP and API bullets, the AP punched right through the side armor of the BMP-1, API was less more consistent, we had some cases where it penetrated the armor when it wasn't angled, but more often it just made a nice looking sparks, nothing more :) Haven't seen the AP rounds being used anymore thought, only those standard Lapua Lockbase bullets.
I'm from the Netherlands and the Dutch army is using the Accuarcy International .338 since 1997. During the conflict in Bosnia in the'90's, it was to much overpower. So the Army seeked for another option to fill in the gab between Diemaco C7A1 5,56mm and AI .338. SF Commandos even took the Stone Age FN FAL with KRR62 scope to Afghanistan in the first years: accurate semi auto 7,62mm up to 700 meters. Very fast the HK417 was issued but the AI.338 was very handy to engage targets over 1000 meters away from fixed positions.
Larry saying things like "bust some caps", "30 caliber, dawg" or "mac daddy" is still more respectable than all the homies, in all the gangs across the world.
Mr. Vickers I have an immense amount of admiration for you. Plus, you never cease to amaze me when it comes to unique & innovative videos on your channel! I'm always a fervent enthusiast when it comes to testing terminal ballistics & penetration tests conducted on the range. I was pretty sure that the Lapua Magnum .338 8.6x70mm would obviously deliver the most kinetic energy. At 100yrds the Lapua Magnum firing Lapua 250 grain FMJ-LB delivers 4,413 FT-LBSF while the 7.62x51 .308 Hornady 150 grain BT-FMJ delivers half of that kinetic Energy 2497 FT-LBSF. How about testing various API "armor piercing incendiary" cartridges.
Just a little friendly advice for any new shooters thinking about using the vehicle hood benchrest. If you're benchresting over the hood of a vehicle someone wants to drive home without their head hanging out the window, make sure you're winshield doesn't happy and chips or cracks. Those are a spiderwebbed windshield waiting to happen when rifle muzzle blast concussion smacks the glass just wrong. And the bigger the blast and/or closer to muzzle is to the windshield, the more likely you are to "frag" your glass. Larry has a cover on the hood here and that's another good idea. You'd be surprised how easy it is to put nice war wound powder burn on your hood. Pistols can do a really good job of it depending on the cartridge and pistol. Especially with lots of "reps".
Another great video, loved it. Would love it if you added the 300aac blackout in with the mix. Would be interesting to see how it would do in "real world" shooting environments and how that blackout round compares.
Awesome show Mr. Larry Vickers. Just want to say Happy Veterans day and thank you for the time you spent serving and keeping us all safe in the great U.S.A.
Love the episode. Question for you do you promote dry fire exercise. As a high power match shooter I take 5 dry to 1 live fire. While I go to the range weekly I also dry fire in the bedroom.
Great video.Next time shoot through some cinder blocks with again a 5.56 ,7.62x39 fmj and ap a .308 fmj -ap and .338 fmj and instead of a steel target have a ballistic torso with a level II armor.I am curious what's gonna happen.
Love all your vids Larry and thr knowledge you pass on to us as thr viewers!! I am surprised that Ford Raptor windshield didn't shatter from the blast from that 338 Lapa cause in slowmo you could see it flex lol.🤘😜
You're becoming the slow mo King! How about you do some destruction testing on the Rudy project glasses. Doesn't seem to be many videos of that brand being impact tested. I own a pair and love them, just seems odd they're not military ballistic rated not on the APEL
Looked like the 5.56 went over the right shoulder with the mini van. It looked like that was only fragments from the van?? What are your thoughts? Great video.
solid video! but i would like to know why you "squint", or "pinch" one of your eyes shut during your distance shooting. i've thought that to be a learned disadvantage vs keeping both eyes open and not adding unneeded tension into the shooting system.
Excellent video LAV. Please keep them coming I really enjoy your channel and I have told quit a few friends at my Gun Club to to check you out. They all have done so along with given me alot of positive feedback!
I would like to see some Larry Vickers biathlon action going on! I'd like to see you shooting from cross-country skis and using skiing poles as gun support! :) But from the looks of things you guys dont get any snow in that part of USA.
hey vickers tactical,i liked the way you took that shot standing in a nearly concealed position this helped you a lot because you were a left handed shooter but what position would you suggest for a right handed shooter from the same position?
I'm from Colombia, south America and here in my country it's not legal use or buy guns without government special permission, but Tac TV and Mr Vickers let to know to some Colombian enthusiasts professional information about this interesting gun advantage. thanks and cheers.
Hi Larry! Is there any chance for us to see Walther WA 2000 video from you?In my opinion you guys are the best suited to do the job.The type of production that you have will fit with that one just perfectly.
Well.. I wish I could see an episode with some kind of cheap gear like surplus rifles (300$-500$ max) to kinda get the idea of war conditions like gun malfunction, dirt and make every one to understand the reliability of certain weapons. A weapon expert is a weapon expert, but real soldiers don't have brand new guns with lube on them and stuff. The show was amazing! Greetings from Romania!
I don’t know if you are left eye dominant, but I am and my setup is right handed. I want to get into PRS competitions. I’m hoping that being left eye dominant won’t be a problem for me in competitions
You should do a video on how to effectively use your CCW in a public setting like a bank if you happen to be there at the same time as a robber. We heard about the case in Chicago (one of many involving law abiding citizens protecting themselves and the community) where an armed robber was shot dead by a citizen with a CCW. From a Delta operator's perspective, what are the key points to accurately assess the situation and which tactics to employ if such an occasion arises? One of the many criticisms anti-gunners make is that CCW holders will shoot wildly, potentially killing innocent civilians. I think an informative video by you would debunk these myths and give an accurate picture of how and when to use your CCW if the situation calls for it.
+alfie horn that's what's wrong with this country, its the citizens jobs to protect themselves. I do not carry because I'm a gun nut or think I'm a badass, its my job as a man to protect my family and the people around me.
+GR8 B8 I would prefer an average citizen shooting in a crowded building I was in over an officer anyways, if I ever have to pull my gun I'm responsible for where the bullet goes, an officer not as much they have legal protection and I have none. I shoot with a few cops and they aren't the best shooters especially if their shotgun or m4 comes out, its kinda scary.
+ST8KFINGER He could always just be friendly and offer to help the criminal by holding his bag open while he loads it with cash. Should probably hold the door for him on his way out too since his hands will be full of other peoples money... Because with that defeatist apathetic attitude he's more likely to have any gun he tries to pull out taken away and used on him then being able to effectively stop the threat. I agree with you on most cops ability to shoot as well, I've only ever seen a handful that were able to shoot either on par or better than I can. I don't consider myself to be anything special or more than an average shooter among guys that are into guns either. Each time they were on static ranges with little to no stress involved, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near them if they had to shoot in a stressful situation.
+- YosemiteSam357 I'm not trying to trash talk cops but for the most part they are not gun guys and qualifying is a hassle not a fun afternoon. maby its just the podunk cops I know but they seem to like muzzle flashing with a loaded chamber and anytime they have a gun in their hand their finger is on the trigger. I lost a lot of respect a few months ago when I tried to help save a neighbor that rolled a tractor into a creek and died, we had the tractor off of them, tried CPR, and got the family there before the first sheriff showed up then the a hole sheriff was snickering about it, I can only imagine that guy showing up to an active shooter situation, if a woman rolling a tractor was funny he would really think a bank robbery was hilarious.
Hey Mr. Vikers, in your experience how do you feel shooting a bolt action rifle made for a right left handed? I'm a lefty myself and I find it annoying sometimes using right handed systems. I'm arguing buying a quality right handed systems or having a left handed one built.
Rouge Fighter the strange thing is that AI make left handed rifles so why someone who's working for the biggest dealership isn't using a lefty is a bit of a puzzle.
I know its a lot more work, but id love to see a block wall filled with concrete like they are in real world, curious to what the results are then. Regardless, loving the channel and a shout out from Australia to the LAV
An idea: for the 5.56 splatter from the mini van and cinder block, have cardboard target vs medal target behind to see if the splatter/fragments can cause penetration to the cardboard, this could simulate skin damage or skin penetration. Not needed for the 308 or 338 for obvious reasons. Thanks.
New subscriber and like your content. The shot at 3:35 doesn't seem to match the close up that follows based on the shot placement. Is that from an editing mistake?
Is there a reason to hold the sniper rifle so far back when taking a standing shot? I would have thought having your hand out as far as possible would help steady the gun?.
consideration: try a paracord through tennis balls (hanging) at different ranges from 150 yards to about 450 yards or longer. here's the catch 3-9x50 scopes only. Any caliber.
308 in the cinderblock challenge would’ve been a lot better had you used FMJ....you also forgot to include the BAR when you were talking about WW2. Correct me if I’m wrong but I’m sure there was hella more BARs issued vs 1919s.
great videos, It is nice to get to see these high end weapon systems in action. kind of a double edged sword though, it always lengthens my bucket list of firearms.
Shooting in the standing postion, and using the corner of the building to support the bolt gun, why did you not wrap your arm around the sling to add for more support?
Larry have you had the opportunity to shoot the DesertTech SRS or HTI platforms yet? I personally would love to see your thoughts and your review of this company and firearms.
I have noticed the tier 1 guys use the long barrel with rail and quard often. I don't see them use forward grips often. Is that because of training differences vs. other special forces.
Hey Larry, I love watching your videos as they are very informative and instructional. With Veterans Day coming up, I just want to thank you for your service and all the sacrifices you have made for this country and us Americans. I watched "Why I'm Fat" and I don't know where to begin, I was left speechless. It was very sobering to watch you open up about yourself. You are a real hero and myself and fellow Americans are forever indebted to you and others who've served. Thank you Larry.
The 556 going through that cinder block, the bullet it’s self wouldn’t do much but you have to think that brick dust isn’t gonna feel good going straight into your eyes
Just curious...you a lefty? Obv the AI rifle is a righty rifle and therefore it looks uncomfortable, just curious, or maybe it's part of a technique I'm not aware that your strong arm is used for balance rather than your weak arm?
Excellent video as always LAV. Of course the content is outstanding. I have been trying to find the BCM MK12 MOD 0 or 1 just like the one in the video. Anyone out there know where the weapon system can be found for purchase!
+762x35mm im left handed and i hate bolt guns way to awkward for me to use now keep in mind im a hunter not a "TAC" guy i prefer lever guns to use i have a Browning BLR 308win working and a marlin 336 35rem working on getting a Savage 99
