Fun Fact: According to Falcoon, an artist who worked for SNK Playmore during the development of this game, the Devil May Cry protagonist Dante was intended to be a hidden character during the very early planning stages, but then became rejected from the roster in favor of Demitri Maximoff, because the designers felt that he would be a more-fitting rival to Leopold Goenitz.

This game had a pretty strange roster, not gonna lie. Of course we need to have Ryu, Kyo, etc... but Earthquake over Haohmaru was definitely an interesting choice. I wonder what the character planning process was like.

Although the gameplay is not the best, I like this version better than capcom crossover with the desolate, abandoned, post-apocalyptic scenarios, with random, strange, broken ,evil and altered characters, like Red Demon, the priest Goenitz, Mars People, Zero, Violent Ken, the version rare of Dan's is a mix of Robert and Ryo's moveset with the street fighter charecters

@@-Poka- That's the concessions of having a relatively small roster, especially for a crossover fighter. You gotta realize there's only 18 total slots for SNK characters so its an extremely tight selection, they likely chose mars people over marco/fio/etc since he'd be more unique due to his inhuman appearance and unique weaponry. It's the same logic as to why Zero is in the game but not Megaman. SNK actually made another game a couple years later called Neo Geo Battle Coliseum that can be basically thought of as a sequel to this game but with only SNK characters, and they actually did include Marco as a playable character in that game alongside Mars People, so they likely wanted to include him in this game too but couldn't.

When it came the MVC, I think Capcom did a better job with diversity when it came to the roster. The first one only had three SF characters and the rest came from their other franchises. When 2 came along Darkstalkers got more representation with Anakaris, Felicia and BB Hood joined the fray. Wish they had included at least Lilith and Demitri as well. CVS on the other hand, the first one had Morrigan and Nakoruru to keep the game from being what it really was: Street Fighter vs The King of Fighters. My guess is they wanted in to be more down to earth or something so they downplayed fantasy and science fiction. Still though.

Late answer, but you need to beat survival mode until round 100 I think it was. Just use Shin Akuma and spam his super fireball.

He might have pressed a button that lets you access the secret character roster.

To get the secret character you need to press the R1 button (in ps2), in the arcade you must press start and write some passwords (with the arcade stick)
