+Gijs Weezepoel yes it's the mullet run there is a lot of bluefish and mackerel and kingfish around all you need is an X-rap lure cast it off the pier and you will catch a lot of fish

Word of advice, when holding a large fish (25" and above) hold it by the mouth but support it by its abdominal area, if you hold it like a bass it dislocates the jaw and crushes the organs

Fished this location for the first time over the summer and caught my PB within 30 minutes of being there my first day. Complete luck to be honest with you. Had a bottom rig sitting underneath at the T Went to reel in to check my bait and felt this dead weight. Got him all the way to the surface and only then he started fighting. It was awesome👍🏼 39” Snook and it was the biggest catch of the day at that point🤟🏼 I was definitely proud Going this year for sure now with a few more setups. Got the 2 conventionals and im gonna give the 9 ft surf rod on my daiwa bg 5000 a shot this year. Pretty sure it will horse those snook outta there. My BG has even more drag than my small 20 lw conventional reel

Ive never seen a more hype video!! It would be dream to catch huge snook like that. I am in Vero Beach so I have light setups for small reds and snook. I really want to come visit Juno pier in a few months during the summer so i can experience this. Probably need more than 20lb braid tho. Hey Ryan, I fish bridges for snook. We find it hard to find rods and reels that are really up to the task. It can't be too heavy or big just for long time convinence but it still has to have the strength (especially over time) to power the snook from the pilings. What rod and reel are you using? Who makes that purple reel (make and model)? What pound test line and leader are you using? Alot of questions but the video was impressive. Mike

There was a study done on the barramundi (close relative of the snook) where 50 of 50 fish held vertically swam off, but died later on. I don't think juno pier clowns realize just how many of these snook end up dead.
