Hi! Welcome to our channel once again! :)
We just came back from the Raya break (when Ramadan ends) and we spent the last few days in PARADISE! We travelled to Perhentian Islands (we stayed in Perhentian Kecil, the small island, but we also visited Perhentian Besar, the big island) and the truth is that we LOVED it, it was amazingly beautiful. Now we understand why some people named them the Maldives of Malaysia!
We saw amazing wildlife, the water was incredibly transparent, clear and blue turquoise! We swam with turtles, sharks, manta rays and loads of fish! (we even saw Nemo!). It definitely goes up to our TOP 3 favourite places in Malaysia.
Here are the approx. prices to get to Perhentian Islands from Kuala Lumpur, and our opinion on the places we toured while snorkelling!
Prices to/from Perhentian Islands and Kuala Lumpur (per person):
1. Domestic flight Kuala Lumpur-Kota Bharu: 20-40EUR depending on the season
2. Taxi Kota Bharu airport - Kuala Besut jetty: 100MYR/20EUR
3. Speedboat Jetty-Kuala Perhentian: 80MYR/16EUR
4. Environmental tax and entrance fee (foreigners price): 35MYR/7EUR
Which places we liked the most during our snorkel tour?
1. PIR Beach (Turtle Bay): 3.8/5. Perfect to see turtles. Nice beach and with resorts/restaurants nearby
2. Coral Garden: 3.5/5. Loads of fish, super clear water and perfect to see corals, Nemo fish and other animals. There's no beach, so you have to jump from the boat
3. Shark Point: 3.2/5. Ideal to see sharks (they are harmless, don't worry!). Not too many corals, but visibility was great.
4. Barat Resort/Restaurant: next to PIR beach. Good restaurant with local/western food and good prices. Nice place for a short stop mid-tour
5. Turtle Beach (Perhentian Besar): 3/5. Reduced visibility and not amazing snorkel, but the beach itself is amazing and raw. Good for resting, walking and drone shots :)
We hope you enjoyed the video! Part 2 next week :)
We are Mont and Andreu. We lived and worked in Switzerland since 2016 but in January 2020 we decided to take a leap of faith and move to Asia, specifically to Kuala Lumpur, Malasia! However, the COVID19 pandemic delayed our adventure by 7 months, but we are finally in the country and ready to explore!
