Snow took me a minute to fully appreciate with the parallels to Powder and all!!!! Wind At My Back is one of Neal’s best songs - so good they do it twice!!!!!

Seeing this performed live at Morsefest 2016 was one of the best concert-going experiences I've ever had. Wind At My Back is one of my favorite songs Neal has ever written, and I could listen to that reprise at the end of disc 2 literally for forever. It's a glorious ending to a great album. When I was getting more into Spock's back in like...2013 or so? I hadn't yet really given this album much play, and on a trip to my grandparents house I made it a point to listen to this album in full once a day for a week, and I completely got it.

Love your channel man! Here is a fun Genesis / spocks beard parallel that few talk about..! 1. This was both bands first double album, and first concept album. 2. After the release of the album the lead singer quits the band and the drummer becomes the new front man 3. both concept albums have a story about a man in New York!

Did yall talk about how the album was birthed during a road trip across America that Neal had to make by himself in the wake of Sept 11? It can't be overstated how much that event influenced the album.

Great format! Would love to hear discussions of The Astonishing, Savatage's Streets and Wake of Magellan, also Trent Gardner's Leonardo The Absolute Man and Hundred Year Flood can qualify imo.

I should really give "Snow" another try. It's weird, I had the opposite experience with Spock's Beard. I LOVED that "radio-friendly prog" sound on "V", it's everything I love about bands like Boston or The Beatles or ELO, but MORE of it, while the crazier proggy stuff was like a tesseract I had to solve until I got more into progressive stuff later on, so "Snow" didn't latch on to me as immediately.

Another interesting aspect present in this album is the kinda "breaking the 4th wall" moments like track title "Ladies and Gentlemen, Mister Ryo Okumoto on the Keyboards" and Neal saying in the ending track something like "the whole band ... you're beautiful".. I'm not a native speaker, I can't figure out exactly what he's saying, but it seems to be unrelated to the story within the album
