Lots of great ideas mister. I want to build one of these as well. I bought plans from a guy in Bosnia or somewhere like that. I will use parts of his plan but i like your idea of cutting down a track to fit my application. Need more lug because i want to pull a x country ski groomer. What size motor did you go with? Thanks for the vid?
Great Build! Putting one together myself, My question to you is how did you factor shorting the rubber track, to the distance or length of your wheel base? Did you cut & shorten the track & build from there or vise versa?
Great build. Did you weld the sprocket and base onto the shaft? Also, the red bearing on the side panel, is that just pressed into the side panel and then it rests against the end of the shaft ? Is there anything in between? Thanks
Mine is right under 200 lbs. lighter may be good but you need a little weight for traction. Thanks for the comment. Let me know if you need anymore info
I get the traction thing, I'm thinking I can make room for some cargo on it for that. I just don't want something I can't load and unload easy. I kinda ain't getting any younger fast.
Nice build, I think a 3/8" Diamond plate( Aluminum) engine mount would work well. don't you need some vent holes in your cover so the air cooled engine can breath ?
That is badass ! I’ve been studying all other designs and this is the best I’ve seen from scratch so far . I’m not a fan of slides Incase you use it in the summer , clever design !!!!! The mid engine makes the best sense . Others have more space for gear but they have to lack overall traction . What HP did you roll with ? And do you have a cutting list ?? This is how I want mine , Well done !!!!!
It’s just the 99 dollar 6.5 hp from harbor freight. I’m not going to do a cut list or blue prints but my email is cody.weston75@gmail.com if you want to email me I’ll be happy to help you with yours. Glad you like it. Also have a top speed video on my channel. Average is 19 mph with a top speed of 21
It is appreciated. That’s cool ! It’s your design that I like . If anything just a couple of pointers would be cool over the summer . I have thumbs up you and subscribed. We will chat again. Pretty tough to fit that in your oven !! Paint sucks !!
Man, great job on that machine! Couple questions? Have you thought about making plans to sell for this machine? What kind of clutch did you use? How did you fab the track assembly? Looks sharp.
Thanks. No I’m not going to sell or make plans. The clutch is a 30 series Comet clutch 60$ on eBay. I have a CNC plasma table I used for the track assembly. If you need any help with anything else just ask.
I programmed my cnc machine to cut them all out so to me it was just the cost of the steel. I’m guessing to have one fabricated it should be around 500$
On your bogey set up , Does it have a pivot point ? Or is it rigid where I see the two bolts that look like it holds that assembly in place . Just curious if you have it pivot with the track on uneven terrain! It looks like I see grease at the bolt connection for movement.
I hear you and that is valid enough for me . I don’t see myself using it in summer but I had to ask . I am a Minnesota boy and need something for when the snow is this bad . We have so much snow . You drill a hole and you better give it up . SUCKS !!
Sorry to bug you do you no what clutch kit it was on ebay as there are several to choose from just want to make sure clutch bolts up to motor also what is the shaft size on the predator motor thanks for your time and you did a awesome job on the build. I also like the first one out of the summit.
What is the length of the 2 pieces that are powdercoated that u cut out for the drive wheels and the back idler wheels also thickness I am thinking 3/16 x4 inch flat bar thanks I have access to a water jet was wondering if u had a drawing with measurements just for them 2 pieces thanks again
Looks Great!! I have been wanting to build one of these, and have collected most of the parts. Did you build this from plans, or did you design it yourself? I have an idea of how to do it, but changing the slide rails on the old snowmobile track I have, to wheels still had be scratching my head about just how to do it.
@@Smalls4068 Thank you! Mostly it's the slide rails that keep the track running straight. I haven't figured out a good way to change that to rollers yet. I bought some used inline skates for the wheels, but I think they will be too small to work. Still thinkin' on it! I think I need to shorten the track also.
Can I make a suggestion I saw these and thought why not make the handle bar you hold with your hands rotate from side to side on at about thirty degrees each way so when the mutt goes into a rut it gives your hands and arms some give and put springs on both side so this absorbs some of the shock you know like they have on ski booses ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kNxN_FPvX2c.html see video at 6:11 I would put a spring on both sides you could get these springs off of a motor for valves maybe a small engine which would give small springs. Just a thought! Do you have dimensions for your skeleton
