Check the Alpha Breeze out here-
Alpha Breeze Tent alnk.to/aLGFPQ8
Alpha Breese Set
Find At Campsaver alnk.to/ge4aTgL
Alpha Breeze Stats-
Price just tent $499.95
Price for set $674.95
Weight 24.2 pounds, with set 29.2 pounds
Peak Height 73 inches
I was not looking for a new tent but when Snow Peak reached out and I saw the Alpha Breeze I knew it was not like my other tents. I could walk in standing up and have some shade without lugging around a massive canvas tent while getting Snow Peak quality-we had to see for ourselves.
Our initial thoughts are in this video as to set up difficulty, quality, roominess and comfort. Short version we love it so far!

I’ve watched several reviews on this tent, and you are the only person who has ever mentioned the seam seal tape step

I appreciate you checking out the video and taking the time to comment. I aim to be accurate, unbiased and full disclosure. It is specifically listed in the manual that comes with the tent there are a few spots that you seal when you first get it. It is not the entire tent, only a few locations and was very easy. SP provides the sealer to do it with the tent. I am not sure why others don't mention it but it is no big deal.

Looks like a sturdy and comfortable tent. I like how massive the awning is. We love ground tents. The only reason why we switched to rtt is the ease of setup. It's suitable for the weekend, but for multi-day trips breaking it down and setting it up gets tiring. This looks like an awesome base camp tent.

Ya, this would not be my go to if I was arriving late and leaving the next morning! For a basecamp weekend or a multi-day basecamp this would be an super choice.

Very nice review of this tent, Dick! It does look roomy a d having that pad is a must! I was wondering how easy it was to pack back up, and it looks like it all fit back in the bag nicely!👍👍

Glad to hear it and thanks for checking out the video. I am glad you have had great experience, we have a storm coming so we just set it up in the yard to get it wet and see how it performs. Cheers

Thanks for watching and checking out the channel. It really is a surprise to me in that it is so roomy and stable but also pretty dang easy to set up and take down. I have included a couple of links in the description to the video that, if you click on them to buy, provide our channel with a small commission without changing your price at all. If you decide to buy we would certainly appreciate your support by using the links.

I have the Alpha Breeze and recently used it, for the first time, over five nights at the Boundary Waters of MN. It rained all night one night and not a drop entered the tent. The awning only requires one guyline each. If it rains, just unhook the two corners and zip up. When the rain stops, it's easy to reattach. The awning will pool water in rain. I didn't figure out a solution for that other than to push it with my hand (or canoe paddle) over the side.... Thanks for your video good man

We are really liking it so far. Taking that tent to the BWCWA is one I would not have thought of as it is a large one to portage but good for you! I have read that the grommet in the middle front of the awning is for a guy line that can be pulled down to drain water, I will give that a try next time we get some rain. Thanks for dropping by the channel!

That is an Alps Mountaineering brand King Kong chair. It is not the lightest by a long shot but it is very robust and their customer service has always been good to me when needed. alpsmountaineering.com/king-kong.html

I checked in with them and, although he mentioned keeping the chill off there is no official R-value for the mat.

Not a fan that they make you add seam sealer. If it's a manufacturing issue, one of their people should have done this application in my opinion. Having 4 doors is really interesting. Good call on being able to sneak put without tripping over or disturbing other sleeping campers. The awning looks awesome! Perfect for a rainy day. Thats pretty sweet with the insert floor mat. Thatd definitely help protect the floor if you are using cots too. I agree that a 4th pouch might have made more sense too. All tents should have reflective lines and zipper pulls. Good suggestions there!

Yes I was a bit surprised on the seam sealer but it took no time at all and is always something I keep in my kit to maintain my tents, maybe the marketing guys said that would make the price point too high. We got it set up in the rain a couple of days ago and bone dry so I am really happy with this tent.

Did you have to seam seal this tent ?
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 9 месяцев назад
I did the seam sealing that the manual said to do initially but have done nothing else to it since and have had no leaks in it. The process was not hard and letting the sealer dry before storing the tent was the longest part.@@stbyrd2000

Question for everyone: do you put your stakes in as first step while tent is flat or after tent is up and assembled? Looks like a great tent, I really like the four entrances and big ventilation windows. Do all the entrances open when rain fly is on? Thx for great video!!!
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 11 месяцев назад
I always put the stakes in after the body of the tent is set up. Then I put on the rain fly and stake that down as needed (some tents the fly and body stake together so just take note). Yep all of the doors open when the fly is set up. Actually awe have decided the side doors are easier to access when the fly is buttoned up in rain mode so it is super handy.

the problem with most snow peaks tents of this size is that i cant stand in it. So opted for American style tents. but seeing this in your video I'm considering this for myself when my kids dont go camping with me
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for dropping by. Note that the area you can stand up is limited to the center pole so you cannot walk around in it like you might in a Springbar. The front half is pretty good to move around but the back does slant (like a very high angle wedge camper) but for getting dressed and in/out of the tent you can do that standing up. For one person this would be super roomy! I wanted to make sure that was clear. The center heigh is 73 inches by the way if you missed the comments and links to the tent in the description.

@@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 I'll be honest I wish snowpeak would make a line geared towards the American Market. We like roomy stuff. My wife is Japanese American and should doesnit like this tent . She likes the instant pop up Ozark trail/Core style tents which I'm trying to get away from due to packing space. And i want high quality.

I wonder how big the vestibule is when the zippers are closed. The reason I am asking is I wonder if the the vestibule is big enough to use as a temporary bathroom at night using a 5gallon portable toilet. I found most front vestibules are very small can can only be used for storing gear and not big enough for a squatting adult.

I was hoping to use it this weekend and would have given it a look. It will be a couple weeks it looks like before we get out again and I will check then. Had never really thought of that actually!

Why didn't you show putting seam sealer on!?
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 10 месяцев назад
That is a good question and one I didn't really think about. At camp we only sealed the four corners of the tent body where they stake into the ground. Since we had no weather in the forecast I didn't seal the rest until I got home and could spread the fly on my patio. I would not do that next time however since the brush got hard from the sealer setting up on it before I did the fly and it didn't work as well. All in all it was about 30 minute job. Here is a good article on sealing the seams - thetrek.co/how-to-seam-seal-your-tent-step-by-step-guide/ Thanks for checking watching and the great question.

Is it a no-see-um netting?
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 8 месяцев назад
It is as fine as the mesh on any of our tents and we have not had any bug problems but I cannot say yes/no if it will keep out the smallest of the small no see ums and I don't see it discussed on any reviews I have seen Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

As for guy lines, just buy some cheap swim noodles and cut them in half. Then make a slice. They then make an easy task of inserting into the lines. Keeps a person from tripping on the guys.

How was the seam sealing?
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609
@dickinaroundoutdoors8609 9 месяцев назад
It was very easy to do and I just followed the instructions included. It really wasn't much at all. The only thing I would say is do it all at one time otherwise your brush will get hard and won't spread as efficiently when you try to do the rest later. No water inside at all so far.

Too expensive for what you get. The pin pole thing is feature found on cheap tents. Also, $499.00 for a tent, should have groundsheet included.

If im setting up a base camp setup im gonna need something bigger, say Snowpeak landlock.

For sure that would be a step up in room! My version of basecamp is something I don't put up and take down every day while on the move.
