We're experiencing a real winter in Montana this year. Over a foot of snow on the ground before the end of November and it just keeps piling up. This isn't a review, but rather snow removal "porn", if you will. Just some GoPro footage of the action. The majority of the footage is at 8x actual speed to keep the video length reasonable. Actual clearing speed is only 2 MPH or so.

I've been on the fence between the berco and the rammy. both seem to have their own issues. I like the idea of the berco because it puts less weight on the sxs, but like others have said, I've seen countless reviews of the caster arms bending or bearing blowing out. However, I'm in west MI and my driveway is long, but paved and flat so I dont think the casters would have any rough impacts.

Looks like your blower is working well, How many hours do you have on your blower now? Any problems yet?

I think it is somewhere around 40 hours at this point. The only problem I had was the first season when the gear box died on me. The dealer said the gears were destroyed, even though I didn't hit anything. They inspected the auger and agreed that it wasn't from something I did. Berco covered it under warranty, including pick-up and delivery. I was concerned about a weak gear box after that, but have had no issues. How is yours treating you?

@@RuralMontanaLiving Glad your blower is working well. My blower just completed winter 5 and has about 200 ish hours on it. It has been treating me well, just some minor issues and general maintenance. Replaced the auger electric motor twice, re welded the hitch a couple of times, replaced the wheel bearings a couple of times and other than that just general maintenance. Cheers!

How does it work on heavy wet snow and slush? What engine do you have?

It works great on heavy snow. Obviously it doesn't throw it as far as the lighter stuff. I opted for the Honda.

How would you review your Bercomac? There’s a lot of poor reviews about them. Seems like most reference the poor design of the caster wheels and their frequent failures.

It does a great job and I've never experienced any failures to date from the casters or how it mounts to my SxS. My only issue was during its first season, when I had to have the gearbox on the auger replaced. Bercomac covered it. I was a bit skeptical about its robustness, but that was 5 years ago and haven't had an issue since. Something solidly mounted on a PTO driven machine is going to be more robust, but I didn't want a skid steer or tractor, because I have no use for them other than snow removal. While perhaps a weak point, Berco's mounting system allows me to use the SxS for snow removal when I'm not having fun with it doing other things.

@@RuralMontanaLiving That sounds like what I’m looking for to attach to my Honda Pioneer SxS. Would you have any idea how so many people have experienced caster failures, blown out bearings, or even the casters support arms being bent? Possible installation errors?

I have no clue what all the complaining is about. Perhaps they drive too fast and/or on rough terrain? Maybe they don't keep the chains tight to the front suspension via the turnbuckles? Maybe I've just been lucky. That reminds me, I did have a turnbuckle fail a few years ago, but that was an easy fix. I think it happened when I was a bit careless and a caster sunk into deep snow off the side of the road. I had to really work to get it out and cracked a turnbuckle. One of the caster arms is very slightly bent as well, but doesn't impact performance. That was my fault.
