If we get to 1000 downloads I'll release a Snow White cover in my goblin voice on Instagram! Download Disney Emoji Blitz using my link on your mobile device or tablet: bit.ly/EMOJIMOMO #ad
Your Disney princess immersion is literally rescuing birds and spreading awareness about bird sanctuaries! Your kindness is so inspiring! I love this so much!
I adore this glimpse into your home life with Matt and totally relate to the ADHD (inattentive type) feels. Printing out recipes to put check marks for things that have been measured out has helped so much. Especially with things like sifting flour since it's so easy to lose track.
I have a lot of trouble measuring things out too but lately what I've been doing is keeping the number I'm at on my fingers, and saying the number I'm on over and over again until I've put in the next cup(or whatever measure you need). This, plus no one else can be in the room or attempting to talk to me (or I will immediately lose track and have to start over) really helps for me :)
"I want to know what it feels like to be so beautiful and gentle that nature loves you" I mean you say this, but I distinctly remember the first time I met you a wild fox just trotted over to you and cheerfully said hi to you while you were wearing a princess dress and a flower crown...
I love how passionate Momo gets about Disney. I don't feel it for Disney myself but i know that emotion and it makes me smile to see her having passion and love and joy for a thing and then share it with us. I'm not even a fan of Snow White but i could sit and listen to her talk about it for hours. I just like seeing people expressing their inner joys, those things that they can think of or read or watch that just makes them feel right inside. Maybe that's odd of me. Maybe it's creepy. I don't know. I just like seeing people be happy and be happy _about_ something.
Ah! I had to pause the video because the Snow White Makeup Thing is a MYTH! IT'S SO MUCH COOLER THAN THAT! The Ink and Paint Department was almost solely comprised of women (you probably know this), but so much of their history and contributions to the industry goes unsung! Mary Weiser, a Supervisor in the Color Model department took it upon herself to teach HERSERLF chemistry in her odd hours in order to figure out the paint formulas needed for color animation at the time. Before the paints wouldn't stick to the cels they used, or caused streaking, or wouldn't dry and remain sticky. This meant cels had to be washed and redone way too often. She proposed that there was no reason why Disney couldn't just make their own paints, making the studio the first ever to do so. With her formulas, she saved the company $6,000 in white paint alone. That was in 1936, adjusted for inflation that is $113,250 today!!! Mary Weiser ended up getting a degree in chemistry for the company and patented two of her paint methods. One of which being the transparent staining technique they used for Snow White's blush! Here's a section from the textbook I'm getting this info from: A light shade was applied to the back of the cel like usual for Snow White's skin, and then a light application of a transparent stain solution was strategically applied on the front of the cel. The stain absorbed into the porous plastic surface, giving the appearance of a gentle rouge-like blend. Red and orange dye combined with the powdered pigments of the Paint Lab to form the proper shade of pink. Carefully placed dots of this concentrated solution dissolved into a soft glow with no discernable edges, providing natural warmth to Snow White's cheeks. To maintain this glow on Snow White's face consistently across hundreds of cels, this delicate solution required an exacting application to the front of the cels across the action of each scene. Essentially, the women were animating the color. ... According to Ruthie Tompson, "Putting that rouge [solution] on [well], there weren't many people that did it. We had one girl, her name was Helen Ogger... She was an Inker, but she was the one ... Several of them tried to do the blush on the cheeks, and a couple of them were pretty good, but Helen was the outstanding one that did Snow White, and she did'em on the close-ups on the Dwarfs and stuff like that." The myth that these skilled women used their own makeup was a product of the newspapers and magazines at the time after the success of Snow White. The truth is that it was women doing science and highly skilled artistry. I got this all from a book called Ink and Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation by Mindy Johnson. It's a fantastic book filled to the brim with forgotten history. I'm sorry for the giant info dump, but I'm a ginormous animation nerd and couldn't let it go. Also you can add Lotte Reiniger's Adventures of Prince Achmed to the list of full length animated movies made before Snow White. Her style of paper cut-out animation was so delicate and beautiful.
Yeah Gooseberries (pronounced Gooz-brees, at least in Britain) are pretty rare outside of Europe, and even here's you'd be hard pressed to find them in a store. Along with brambles they were something you foraged rather than bought. If you want *close* fit then Gooseberries are in the same family as currants, so add a few of them to your pies :)
I've had a single gooseberry only once in my entire 36 years for this reason. Apple pie was an excellent substitution, and I also love fruit of the forest pie (apples n berries) for this immersion.
@@niteflitetheknitter In certain rural parts of Britain, we're still lucky enough to get a forage, which essentially becomes "Pie and Crumble Season" followed by "everyone's Grandma making preserves". And yep, the best pies are "Made from whatever we found today" Pies (this is actually why blackberries are THE ubiquitous berry in a lot of things. It's so obviously a blackberry that you can trust kids to pick it without toxic-berry worries). Sadly where I live now it's mostly Rosehips you can forage, which I personally do not like....
Gooseberries are related to currants, which is why they cannot be cultivated in large parts of North America. Even though some cultivars were native here, they can host pine blister rust, a fungal infection that is devastating to the North American lumber industry. You can sometimes find them imported, canned in syrup.
I love the whole bird section. Growing up, my parents would take us cross country skiing. They always brought pocketfulls of sunflower seeds and we would spend at least 20 mins to one side of the path coaxing the birds from the trees. I suppose I've been lucky with birds, I had a friend who rescued parrots and had a ton of budgies. And I have had to rescue a robin, a raven, and about a month ago, a hawk. We have a great bird rehabilitation centre here in Ottawa.
@@MoMoOBrien Ah, was not expecting any replies to this!💕 Your videos have helped encourage me a lot to explore things I love more in-depth! But also a Star Wars vid with either 1970’s music or in-universe aesthetics sounds so fun! They actually have a cookbook for Galaxy’s Edge that has some pretty simple and tasty Star Wars recipes! (Also, you can find so many videos to teach you how to do cool lightsaber tricks with even store-bought sabers, it’s a very fun party trick to learn lol)
Fun pie crust hack: when you add water instead of a cup add half a cup of water and half a cup of vodka. The alcohol of course evaporates out early in the baking and leaves no taste. The high moisture at the start makes the dough very workable while the low moisture when it gets into baking makes the crust super flaky with an awesome texture.
a mo mo video while i am painting christmas cards?? you knew i was stressed and needed this video. thank you mo mo for the most wholesome immersion videos!!
I don't have time this year, but I really wanted to do an ELF full immersion where I make that Spaghetti dish he makes. Next year I will torture myself in the name of the holidays.
I never realized how much I needed to see the idea of full immersion for a film until now. I love this so much. Truly this has brought so much joy to my day. I’m normally a “ghosting” viewer, I like the video but don’t normally comment. This is the definition of cozy feel good for me. Thank you for giving us content like this💚
when you said "this is not my first time doing this by the way. just, everything i do, it really feels like i'm doing it for the first time" i felt that
My aunt before she passed away called me and my niece her "Little Chickadees" 😊 They are my favorite bird and when they come to my bird feeder I always feel like she is looking over us 💕
Thank you. These videos were designed to kind of just be spat out, so the fact that I'm still upholding the quality I wanted to means a lot. Thank you.
I always love these immersive experience videos you make! They’re not only really cool and helpful for my own sensory inspirations, but I adore that you tend to find a way to mix in a bit of education on the history/influences of the theme (in this case, Snow White’s production and creative process!). Also that chickadee was so cute and fluffy-looking. :’> By the way, just wanted you to know - I finally got to attend my first-ever LARP earlier this December! And I think this is the start of something really cool for me, so thank you for all the videos you’ve made on LARP, because they were a major help for me in learning more about and getting interested in the hobby! 💖
It's so fun how the immersion vids also double as mindfulness therapy, sort of.... They remind us of doing small things that target our phisical senses, focusing us on the present, on the moment, and actually enjoying the experience instead of just going through the motions. With each one of them it's almost like we're sharing that immersion! Thank you so much Momo! much love, see you next time
This was such a fun video!!! I thought the editing and the pacing was really on-point! Now I'm going to go watch Snow White...gotta watch the best depiction of shiny gems EVER
A delightful thing happened back when you made your DnD immersion video. I was on my group chat, and one of my lovely friends Deana showed us a picture of her dinner, and it was a gorgeous charcuterie board, and, just guessing, I said "Oh, did Momo inspire you?" and she said YES! and then we had a long conversation about how awesome you are. So just know, you're bringing friends closer together, even when they are far apart (Deana is in the US, I'm in Britain) Thanks Momo!
I really love these videos Mo mo thank you so much for putting the time and love that you do into them. If you could do a Neverland/Peter Pan immersive video that would be super cool!
Baking with ADHD is So Hard. Like you, even recipes I've done a million times can be tricky. My girlfriend is my official Flour Counter if I need more than three cups 🥰
I was "lucky" to hold a bird. I was working in my office and a bird knocks himself on the window that was open. The bird panicked so he began to fly everywhere in the office. Hopefully he finally understood that, if he keeps flying everywhere, he won't get out. So he stoped on a shelf and I grabbed him. He was scared and moved a bit, but didn't fight a lot. Then I put him on the ledge of the window. Then he looked at me a few seconds before flying outside. I almost felt like Snow White. And the boss gave me the little name of "bird saver". XD
Gooseberries grow wild in the summers, they’re little green guys who look a lot like a translucent unripe blueberry, and taste kinda tart but are really good.
Ornithologist - a person who studies or is an expert on birds. Also the ringd of the lemon would be the outside not the inside... You'd need a zester to get the rind. I love you momo. You seriously are a younger version of me.
I LOVE YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO OMGGGGG. Snow White has been my favorite princess ever since I can remember myself as a child. It's the only Disney movie guaranteed to make me cry; that final scene has always been a downright heartstring tugger for me. I even had a thematic birthday party and everything. Thank you so much for this, it's definitely something I'll consider in the future.
You and Matt are so cute and the part where he pretended to throw an egg at you is something my partner does to me all the time. I'm adoring this series!
MoMo you and your videos were a huge part in helping me figure out the things I love! Thank you for everything you put into these things. Regardless of how much effort each one takes, they all come out BEAUTIFULLY.
I am a gemini, Moon is Scorpio, Rising is Cancer. Do I know what this means? Not really. Kaza helped me calculate it on an app called CoStar, and I've forgotten what its meant to mean.
Yes, I toutched a bird bevor. A swallow was sitting on the Road. I lifeted him/her Up and covered him/her from the sind - it was Summer - and Carrier him/her to the Shadow, whitch was a quiet Long was, 'cause I found this Swallow on a Route sorounded by cornfelds. I actually planed to ceep the bird, but my claasmates throws him/her away. Later I found Out, the bird pooped ob me. Thanks, Nature.
Yes!!! Mo Mo, I HAVE touched a bird!! My friend has three very gentle (at least to me) birbs that will land in my cupped hands in exchange for millet. They're SO warm and soft. I love birds.
You are an amazing, beautiful, and inspiring human being, mo mo. I know you've struggled with anxiety, depression, and depersonalization lately, so I just want to let you know that you (and your content!) are loved, and to remind you to never ever let anybody dull that brilliant shine you are constantly radiating
3:09 I think you're confusing the first full length animated film and the first full length COLORED animated film (at least that's what I've always heard when credited to Snow White). BUT Disney doesn't take that either. I think Lotte Reiniger (A German film director) did it first but I might be wrong and she also did fairy tale retellings so I wouldn't be surprised if Disney took his "inspirations" from her
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves was the first Full length ~FULL COLOR~ Animated Film. People forget the fact that color wasn't a thing we could do easily with film yet at that point
Okay, fun fact about the gooseberry thing (yes, I am like, a year late, but anyways, because I only now remembered the translation of that word to German) - gooseberries are native to Eurasia (so, Europe and Asia) and North Africa, but not the Americas, so it makes sense that they would not be widely known in Canada! The are part of the _Ribes_ family, so the same botanical family as currants, and they are this red or green, depending on the kind, oval berry that tastes somewhat sour. The biggest harvest of them is made in Germany, which is a fun detail given that Snow White is German in origin, though maybe not intentional given the film was made in the late 1940s or so. But yeah when I say, the biggest harvest is German, I mean it. I just fact-checked the amount and out of 174.309 tons of gooseberries harvested yearly world-wide, 82.869 tons are harvested in Germany.
Would love full immersion specific board games - for instance, I've always wanted to throw a Red Dragon Inn party and have everybody come as specific characters!
MoMo, I grew up being forced to eat gooseberry in all sorts of forms (my folks used to grow gooseberry bushes) . It's quite unpleasant. Apple pie is a much better pie. You inadvertently won the pie round. Also it's pronounced with a z and an abbreviated berry, kinda like goozebree. Another great video. Thank you.
15:58 Let me enlighten you: Ribes is a genus of about 200 known species of flowering plants. They are known as currants or.... Gooseberries Blackcurrant & Redcurrant both are gooseberries, for example. But for historic use, they used the word gooseberry, since there are about 200 species now. Snowy used whatever she could find back then.
People call me the Disney Princess, even though I am a guy, because I sing soprano (countertenor) with a clear angelic tone, because animals come to me to be cuddled or cured from aches and pains, and because I am desperate to find my Prince Charming. However, in real life I am like: "Hey, the blue-lidded bottle at 8:05 looks exactly like the cup that I had to fill with my apple juice to bring to the doctor this morning! Funny coincidence! 🍏🥳🍎"
I'm not sure if you can find gooseberries in Canadian grocery stores easily at any time of year, but my work grows them so I know they can grow in Ontario (Toronto, specifically)! They usually ripen in the summer (it's been a few years since we've actively been picking / doing stuff with them so I can't remember the month rn) and they look kinda like grapes but more spherical, though I'm sure you've probably searched up what they look like. The ones I'm familiar with are green and then ripen to red, and if I remember right they're usually pretty sour! Amazing work on the video, as usual, and I truly hope we get 1000 downloads b/c I have a mighty need to hear Doddle sing haha
The Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco has a gallery dedicated to Snow White and the process of creating the film. Not to mention the broader history of Walt Disney and the rotating exhibitions always deliver. If you ever get to SF at some point, you must go!
I don't feel good mentally or physically. So I shall watch Mo Mo until I feel less sad or fall asleep. She has a wonderful asthetic and it makes my brain happy ^_^ yay Mo Mo!
Hi Momo I am from Germany and i think snowwhite plays in Germany. So i google what gooseberrys are and we have them here. They are called Stachelbeeren here. I have never had a gooseberry pie myself, but i know that my aunt grows them.
