Im in Goliad /Fannin area right on Hi59 South,about 6 miles to the East of Victoria,Texas.And the whole day we haven't gotten any rain or high winds yet.Not sure when we will,but it's pretty calm right now.Going to try and get my card to work so I can hit the chat/report room.This hurricane should be a himacane.I wonder what year they started using men's names? They gave the prefix of "her" in the naming the storm,by using female names only. One of the worst and record holding hurricane to visit Port O'Oconner and Port Lavaca,Texas was Carla back in Sept.11,1961.Cat 5 with gusts to 175 at one point,not sure who recorded those winds speeds,but they have it recorded.She completely washed away Port 'Oconner homes and businesses,even my grandparents house.My mom was just a young child and remembers driving back to the house after the storm passed through,and law enforcement only letting people who have proper documentation back into the bayside village.when they got to the driveway and pulled in my grandmother said to all the children,there were 6 children altogether,she saids 'how we going to clean up this mess?"Obviously she was making a smarty pants remark because there wasnt a house left on the property,not even trash or debris.My granny didn't know what to tell the kids that they don't have a house left to go-to.I don't think my family ever recovered financially from this total loss of their world ripped away from them?
