Our last snowboarding trip of the year - this time to Hoshino Resorts Tomamu in Hokkaido, Japan where we stayed the The Tower hotel. The snow was not quite as good as last time, but still overall a fun trip with lots of amazing and all you can eat seafood.

Went there in 2018. Great snow, and the ice village was interesting but you didn't miss much not seeing it (except for expensive coffee). It's a great place for learning and a bit of fun for experienced boarders and skiers. Try and go again in January, it will be a completely different experience.

Tomamu is great for blue(red)/green skiers. I loved it.

Ah I always look for hot tubs at ski Airbnb's in the US - I wish every resort just had a hot spring included like in Japan - that'd be great!

Definitely one less thing to worry about! From our experience, usually hotels all have onsens (baths) included but even if you book a place like an Airbnb with a hot tub, the resort area will usually also have a public bath / onsen you can go to!

Looks like a beautiful place to stay...but my impression is an advanced snowboarder might be bored by the mountain?

Yes it's definitely not as catered for advanced riders

such a cool video! may I know which month you went there? Im planning to visit Hoshino resort next March but im afraid that there wont be enough snow for skiing...

We went in March. There will definitely still be snow in Hokkaido, but won't be as good as January or February

Your complaints are so minor given it is end of season and the kept open even through the pandemic. The Hotel is possibly operating at a loss.

I was going to write the same thing. Late season and pandemic. Why would they open all restaurants and ice village etc when it would be a massive loss of money for them. The resort looked very quiet compared to the few times I’ve been there.
