The Science
Water and oil don’t mix, so they create layers in our jar. When we add the Alka-Seltzer, it reacts with the water to create carbon dioxide. That carbon dioxide begins to float to the surface, bringing the white water with it, making it look like it is snowing.
Adaptations
This project doesn’t have to replicate snow, you can make your water any color! If you don’t have paint, you can try to use food coloring and see what happens. Try and mix the water and oil together to see what the jar will look like.
