Active radar can be useful but is definitely a weakness in some situations. I don't know how every AA functions but the Swedish Lvkv90 (the AA version of CV90) is made to target moving radar transmitters (and some other transmitting equipment) without input from the crew. A few years ago there was an interesting happening during an exercise. The crew was on a break when a Norwegian F16 came into range of the Lvkv90. The F16 was moving in top speed but was locked on by the automatic system of the Lvkv90 for 12 seconds. If it had been in an actual war, the F16 (the enemy in this exercise) would be turned into scrap metal. Stealth is obligatory nowadays. Sending out signals is the best way to be targeted/destroyed.

You're deluded. Eastern counties are absolutely free to ask to enter Nato, in order to get under the umbrella. God knows it's dangerous to be a neighbor of Russia.

This war will not stop NATO though, in fact it already caused Finland and Sweden to both join up. Belarus will never join. NATO does not want Georgia and Kazakhstan (they'd have stayed in Afghanistan if they really wanted to be on Russia's southern flank). Ukraine has been unable to join NATO for a decade due to their border disputes and civil war, but the SMO has only made NATO and Ukraine much, much closer allies.

One was biplanes above the front that could spot troop concentrations and disposition, so you could counter any large attack. I think satellites and drones are doing just that yet again. Also during that war inventive pilots began dropping grenades and small bombs to screw with the enemy, and this proved cheaply effective.

The your answer is drones. To put it another way if the Iraqi govt had drone tech like the Russians do the US Strategy would change dramatically. No amount of air support would protect tanks and armored vehicles. Drones are very very hard to detect. As US tanks rolled across the desert they would be easy targets for the lancets.
