The word out was that the folks who were supposed to do the minis for that second KS took the money ahead then folded, leaving the game publisher high and dry. Ulisses Spiele is awesome for going back after they acquired the ip with no obligation to fulfill the old KS, yet they did to the best they could. Still waiting for my last bits of that but they've been communicating that it's coming soon (backed both original and the expansion)
I backed another KS, a long time ago, with a very similar story. The game was supposed to come with some amazing miniatures... but my $300 pledge ended up providing cardboard standees instead of minis....... 😡
If you're taking over an IP, that's got to be the best way to enforce the "we're the good guys" idea and hopefully earn some points with the fans. Kudos to them, it's rare for decency to take any real form of priority.
Wow, I thought my record of 4 years was long. I mean, sure, I don't expect to ever see two of my Kickstarters. Both for books. Also, I have bad choices. After I regretted not buying the big package and just getting the PDF for one - I go all in on the next one, and of COURSE - that's the one that is not delivering!
I'm still waiting on a manga kickstarter done by an actual manga publisher. Backed it 2016, they were ready for printing 2019, and since then it has just been excuses and radio silences. I think they actually sent out the merch to the americans, to free up storage space (which sounds like something you wouldn't have to do, unless you had no intention of fulfilling the book delivery soon). Pretty crazy how they just took all the money to afford their other kickstarters, and then without saying anything has essentially gone on the road of "If we just make normal manga and sell it long enough, we might afford to finish this project". Of course the official version is "Oh no, planning printing is really hard. You have to do it 1 year in advance, and every time we do it, something unexpected comes up and we have to replan it 1 year later".
I replied in another comment about my KS record. Its not that bad but you have to be careful. Total of 61 KS backed, only 4 (including this one) having issues... maybe I'm just lucky!! 😁
im afraid because i went all in with the apex kickstarter. and they have already delayed shipping by 3 months (at time of announcement) i hope it dosnt go into a 3+ year delay. the only good thing is the company who makes it. gives backers a TTS version to play and beta test untill it comes out.
I’ve backed 156 kickstarters. I have had a few with some delays (mostly due to Covid) but all have shipped or will ship within 2-3 months of the anticipated date.
@@IthaquasBane The irony is that the biggest failures and undelivered products from kickstarter for me has been from official brands and companies who release products yearly. Random nobodies who decide to make a kickstarter are overall ready in about 1 years delay.
This is a perfect format for a Troll / Prank video where you show all of the game, explain what it is and all the history and what you think is in the box, and then you open it and it's a bag of dog food. lol. Great video tho, looks like a cool game.
I was tempted to order the physical copy, but all the rest of my Snarling Badger books (which are stacked under 'Deth Wizards' btw) are printed and bound pdfs, and I didn't want to ruin the set!! Have a couple of other games to finish for the channel, then I'll start reading this one!
I remember reading reviews of Myth back in the days when i was more active on BGG. I enjoyed your video a lot. but it was the moment you told about your amazon wishlist and how you talked about no one feeling pressured I hit subscribe. You seem like a very kind and loving person. I thank the algorithm that it often leads me to genuine and great smaller creators like yourself. thanks for the video!
Some KS creators should definitely be in jail. However my record is pretty decent. Total of 61 KS since 2012. Of those only 1 never materialized, and with 2 others I only got a partial return... oh and this one that took many years to be completed!! These days thanks to shipping and smaller gaming budget, I can't back as many as I used to, and usually it is the smaller games (no more CMON Mega-Projects, or Gloomhaven bricks)
Daaaaaaaang. The only KS I've backed was supposed to ship right as Covid happened and I waited about a year to finally get my thing. 9 years is bonkers.
seems like its the least they could do to salvage their reputation. Id be over it by now lol 8 yrs is way to long but at least they are people of their word and did get it out.
I have only had 2 horror stories from Kickstarter. 1 I should have seen the red flags so that's on me. The other is about 3 years overdue currently still waiting for it. The 1 I'm waiting for is Fray Champions of the Everyverse. They have said for the 3rd time shipping soon that update was about 2 months ago not sure what soon means to them.
The cards will be the base cards for new heroes and enemies and Journeyman for all of them, yes some updated. BGG will have lists. Also on the FB groups ways to identify all the minis. Love Myth and Recon, not sure about the changes (dumbing down mechanics) that the new owners are planning but all the new Stories/adventures/campaigns should be playable with 2.0 rules
If you want a fun kickstarter rager: ‘Paradise Lost: first contact’ still hasn’t released even after their reported ‘release by December 2013’… and they just stopped updating long ago: their last response (December 2022) was “sorry we haven’t posted anything; Covid is crazy and being PR gives me anxiety.”
yeah lmao, come to think of it, 10 years is a huge part of life, like it's your whole childhood... or your kids'. Could've been born after you backed the product and reached primary education by the time game arrived. All that compressed into waiting for a 1 product LOL, trully a family experience. In all seriousness no product is worth waiting 1/7 - 1/10 of your life. But good they fulfilled! Kudos for that.
It didn't take 9 years, but I backed Orcquest and when I received the email it was shipping, I had forgotten about it, long since figuring it would not deliver. I used to back a ton of kickstarter. Don't back anything anymore really, for everyone one that delievers, like 6 dont it seems.
I backed MERCS 2.0. I got everything except the expansion that Megacon forgot to produce. The RECON boards were cardstock instead of cardboard, and the minis were very meh. Then the company folded. Fifth Angel Studios bought the license and we should be seeing MERCS 3.0 hit kickstarter this year.
The Mercs Recon figures were OK, good boardgame mini standard but not as good as other manufacturers... but they do the job well enough. I used some of them in my 5 Parsecs series. My Mercs Recon boards are thick and very sturdy... did you get a second print/version?
@@IthaquasBane no, mine were from the Kickstarter. Megacon was starting to replace them for people with warped boards like me, but dissolved before I got replacements.
I have used them in the past to send back documentation, files and gifts to Malaysia, after visiting German Fachhochschule and Industrial Exhibitions in places like Hannover. But that was a number of years ago.
@@IthaquasBane interesting! i moved from there to the UK and order regulary from it, but not had that yet. Thx for the insight and response :) I lived in the north, Hannover is still south enough for me heh
@@Issblodh did some research. DHL is a subsidiary of DHL group, a logistics company. Deutsche Post is their postal service. It is it a bit unclear if they are just part of it or same by now, but DHL group was originally founded in San Francisco. So i guess the former?
10years? That stems hopeful for my box of marbles called "the bead game", which was supposed to be delivered in April of 2017. They have 3 years left then. (supposedly they were going to start fulfillment at and after Essen Spiel 2022, so far nobody got anything)
I think this was an exceptional case. The company that took over went above and beyond, though they still didn't give everyone everything they ordered. Good luck though, you never know with some of these KS!!
I love Kickstarter unboxing case it introduces me to new games ive inly personaly Kickstartered lasting tales cos it reminds me of Warhammer quest wich i have feature compleat with everything thing little monk has created and me and my brother have literally collected a proxy or original for every monster and character ever made including all the chaos gods which was a trial in its self however i digress lasting tales looks like wq on steroids but i love watching these vids keep it up lad plus been watching u for a while now me and my brother heavily play 5 parsecs to an unhealthy degree and the modded home brew weve done to it is unheathy lol but i just realised u dont live in uk lol the air conditioning should have give it away lol
Ooooooh Lasting Tales....... glad I didn't back that one . After one particular KS that failed on me, I am now ultra suspicious of projects that offer too much!! Can you hear the air-con? I have to have something on... its just too hot here and the ceiling fan gets picked up terribly on the mic!! Never thought I would say this... but I miss the English weather...... heat, sun, and high humidity every... single... day (and night) kinda gets to ya!! 😉
Littlemonk puts out the BEST stuff for WHQ as far as the print quality of the cards and tiles go; I haven't downloaded characters or printed stuff up (old printer and computer as well as an older non-technically inclined operator) but the stuff is awesome.
The lucky duck Dark Quarter? They are typically good but really take the time on the components I have that game coming as well I expect it next year which isn't too bad.
I'm guessing that was for the Mothership 2nd edition campaign. That is really unlike the guy who made that game. There must have been an issue somewhere. Mine arrived early and there was a couple damaged pieces which he immediately sent out and I got in less than a week (from Australia to the USA).
@@Mildewed Definitely was something strange with that one then. There have been two expansion kickstarters as well as a 2nd edition one all come and fulfilled since that one was. The guy who runs that one is great about dealing with the backers too. I would have reached out to him. Might have gotten lost by the shipping company or something, but I doubt it was an issue on his end unless you never contacted him to let him know there was an issue.
Hey if you want to do another I will give you my Kickstarter for Starfinder Minis and let you do the mental gymnastics to get the minis which were never delivered, but you could make additional purchases to receive.
Backed the original Myth, but none of the extra bits. Never even bothered with the 2.0 stuff for it. I still have the game and it looks interesting, but never had the will to play it without the 2.0 stuff and didn't want to buy them.
Hi!! You can get the 2.0 rules and cards for free on DriveThruRPG. Here's the link for the rules, go to the Ulisses main page on DriveThru to find all the cards, hope that helps!! : www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/323379/Myth-20-Boardgame-Rules
@@IthaquasBane there are lots of ways to get pdf's of the cards, but that doesn't change the fact that everything I have is outdated. I would want physical cards and things that were updated to play. I didn't pay for the game to have basically a print and play that I could have made without bothering to buy anything.
Did they send these out without checking if adresses are still correct? Or can you update your address on Kickstarter and it'll automatically be send there? I can imagine a large portion of people that have moved over a period of 10 years.
Hi, they did announce on the KS page that they wanted to get an address update. IIRC they sent out emails and surveys a while back to get an up to date database for mailing
I don't remember the first KD:M kickstarter being as bad as the 1.5 version in terms of delivery. Guilty confession... KD:M 1.0 was my first kickstarter..... and I still haven't played it or built any of the models.... #ducks# ....... sooooo embarrassed!!
@@IthaquasBane I think the first one wasn't that bad, maybe 2-3 years? The current one has been taking ages though but stuff is finally coming in. Playing it is another thing though yeah. You need to have a group of people willing to play it for quite a while. Managed to convince my family to play like 2 games during christmas like 2 times. Awesome models though.
when he said before 10 years all my mind was thinking of the year is 2004 instead he said 2014 🤯 i realized how old i'm now, don't mind me 1:12 going to write my will 😢
As long as KS gets their cut, they don't give a shit. I backed a water bottle with removable coffee cup that took four years; they have like 15K comments on their comments and people were understandably pissed off...I just thought it was funny that I took the cup to a Starbucks and told me they couldn't use the cup (one of the main points that the creator pressed b/c they're environmental and carbon neutral). Backed a bunch of other stuff that was a bit late (which is fine) or stuff that was just like "ooh, that looks neat!" but once I got it, it was just "what, that's it?". I've sworn off KS time and again (the latest being a garlic press) but someone makes something and I see an advert on RU-vid. 14:45 mark "what the hell is that?" It's like the tarot card in the Mordheim boxed set...probably just something like an inside joke or to mess with you head.
To be honest after the first year overdue I kinda just wrote it off as a loss and stopped thinking about it. I did get the base boxes, so this one wasn't a total loss... but that first year, yeah, I was a wee bit angry!!
Now a days I have backet on established or larger groups Kickstarts due more ashured promise of geting the product. I am still missin pdf and books of at least 2 books, lacking the fysical copy and possibly the bonus fysical content on 2-3 products. I have become very vary on smaler groups promises.
Completely understandable, but it is a shame that the people/businesses that KS was initially designed for (indie companies, pet projects, entrepreneurs etc) are the ones losing backers while the larger companies who don't actually need to use KS, are benefiting and using it as a marketing tool. 😥
@@IthaquasBane Unfortunatly very good argument. I need to personally justify the more smaler and ungnown far heavier do I need that or do I dare to take the risk
@@FrostWolfPack It is a shame that smaller designers/producers have been hit so badly by the bad projects! Nowadays I am sooooooo much more careful which projects I back, and only use money I can afford to lose hahahaha 😁
Great vid yea go down to game store get some kid with respoible work ethic to paint 3 figures at a time and you will hsve a full painted set in no time.
Funny somehow you don't seem to know who Ulisses are ... They basically are the WOTC of germany. Just a very small WOTC, that is. They have a HUUUGE catalog, especially when it comes to the 'Dark Eye' , going back more than 30 or so years. Aventuria for example is a very well established game in germany, based on the lore of the Dark Eye . So you can support safely, I guess :)
I came back into the hobby a few years ago after a long break (real life issues) and to be honest there are just too many publishers, games, genres, etc etc. On one hand its a good thing to be sure, more games and designers is ALWAYS a good thing, but for RPGs in particular, I was out of the loop for a long time!! I'm here now, and learning as much as I can!! Thanks for the info!!
I pretty much did give up hope after a year or so of it being overdue. That way, anything received can be thought of as being a bonus... in a certain way of thinking 🤔
So greatful for what is basically the worst customer service imaginable (getting your stuff a decade later), for games that 90% of the owner dont try even once. Gamers are special creatures.
I hope they turn up soon! Wasn't aware of this KS... useless products for me since in times of stress I tend to chew the end of pencils! Fingers crossed
Demo... demo... demo XD oh laughing time...; In your wishlist there are paints and when I first watched I thought it was some protein for musculation and I waS... WTF And how does it works anyhooooooooooo.
I'm too old, and thanks to footy, martial arts and rugby, too damaged to even think about boosting my muscles and getting back into serious exercise!! 🤣
@@pralinor The link should take you to an Amazon wishlist with a number of items. Clicking on an item should add it to your basket... not sure what happens after that to be very honest, but it seems to work!! I'm also hoping I did the settings correct and my full address doesn't appear for everyone to see hahahaha.
@@IthaquasBane Yeah works like a charm. Just need to sign from Amazon international and everything is well setup. Your address is partially hidden. so let's put the bet you got that on 14th june
I am surprised that they have done this, does anyone really care about the game any more? I wonder if they were compelled to do this to get the IP or there is another reason but either way I think it is a waste of time/effort/money for a game system that few people ever cared for. I know I kept the minis and boards and threw the rest in the bin, noone wanted to pay for the whole lot and noone wanted the cards/rules/dice for free so in the bin they went, even the metal character plates which made a nice chime as they hit the bottom of the bin.
Wow, you actually received original items years ago, hmm - i spent $450 and got NOTHING . Sadly even ulisses told me they dont have any base games or 80% of the items i ordered so getting my package of little garbage mini's from them is pointless. Sad because i liked Ulisses and even stated that them taking this KS over would tarnish their name (in my eyes it did).
I am so sorry you got hit so badly, and I'm sorry if the video brought back the bad feelings... It seems everyone has good and bad experiences with that platform. I hope that life brings you more luck in other endeavors though, and that you are safe and healthy.
