60 yrs. ago, in grade school the teacher asked us to bring a bottle and to collect eggshells and bring them to class to make Christmas presents. We did and we made beautiful eggshell vases to take home. We spray painted them gold. My mother loved that vase!! Later on.. my family revealed they had a good laugh because the bottle I took to school was a Michelob bottle while everyone else brought the common jar or a store bought bottle. My mom loved it never the less!!!
What a sweet story! My boys are in their late 40's & I still have things hanging on my bedroom walls that they made in elementary school! They are so precious to me!! I totally get your mom!!

Eggshells went out of 'fashion' for while after the salmonella scare in the UK. I remember being banned from using them in the nursery where I worked, which was sad because they are so versitile in crafts

you can't put a real candle in that with plastic snowflakes glued to the inside of the jar and faux pine sprigs sticking above the rim on the outside 😱
